Threat Hero Notes
1
Celeste Flicker food. Even late game, Celeste just can't get away or deal damage. Especially once you have Eve of Harvest.
2
Ringo Camp him. Gank him every chance you get. Without an escape, he cannot get away from Flicker and will be left to the mercy of your teammates. If allowed to grow, he will become the feared damage dealer we all know.
2
Skaarf Without an escape, Skaarf has no way to stop Flicker in the early game. Use that to your advantage by ganking often early.
2
Baron I like looking at this like an equation. Baron + Jump Jets = Safe. Baron - Jump Jets = dead
3
Petal Petal is squishy, but has a strong early game. If she can't jump out of your B in time, your team can finish her easily.
3
Koshka For a hero based on mobility, being heavily slowed isn't something she wants.
3
Flicker An enemy Flicker just means be smart with your Contraption. Disarm his traps and deny his team vision while setting up your own.
4
Glaive Glaive is a bit of a threat with Afterburn and his high damage output. Try not to fight him alone.
4
Fortress A Captain Fortress easily pumps out more damage than a Captain Flicker. That being said, Flicker has more crowd control and gains an edge in teamfights. The wolves do track you while you are invisible which bumps him farther up then you would think.
4
Taka Once you are built to be tanky, Taka can't really target you effectively. He can slip away fairly easy and proves to be annoying. Contraption does help counter him to prevent ambushes.
5
  No Threat
6
Blackfeather Rose Offensive. With even one charge, he's a threat. If he burns both of them, he's much easier to kill.
7
  No Threat
8
Lance Lance is a great counter to Flicker. Tanky, deals more damage, and his B can shove Flicker to move Flicker's Fairy Dust.
8
Phinn A Captain Flicker doesn't do much to Phinn...
8
SAW A WP Saw won't care if you slow him. He'll just keep shooting.
9
Ozo Incredibly mobile, each of Ozo's abilities allow him to move unconventionally, some through the air. His A heals and can make him an annoyance to fight.
10
  No Threat

Introduction Top

Well hello there. My name is TyphlosionEx and, if you are reading this, you wanna play Flicker. As a Flicker Main, I purchased Flicker day 1 of his open beta and have been practicing with him ever since. This build primarily focuses on controlling the Fold itself, gaining map advantage and setting your team up for victory. It should be noted that this is not a complete guide to Flicker, just a guide for this strategy. I may post a complete guide later on, but for right now let's keep it as simple as we can.

Controlling the Fold Top

Flicker has an assortment of ways to control teamfights and the game itself. His annoying Fairy Dust, passive perk, and global stealth present game changing opportunity to those who effectively use it. Among the items you will use are your standard support items although one in general deserves its own chapter...

Contraption: Your best friend and worst nightmare Top

As Flicker, enemy Flares and Scout Traps will reveal you even if you are invisible. This means that you will face an enemy who isn't brain dead and will grab a Contraption. This doesn't make you useless, just hinders your ambushing and other stealth reliant mechanics.

Getting a Contraption yourself is certainly not required in every Flicker build, but it fits this one exceptionally well. Whenever you deem it safe, sneak into the enemy jungle and plant a Scout Trap or 2, but in places a bit more unconventional.

-The treant camp in the middle

-Around their back jungle camps

-Around their Crystal Miner

-Between the bushes at Gold Mine and the lane bush

These are only a few places that can effectively track your enemy in the jungle and when they come up to lane. This prevents ganks and ambushes in both Early and Late game. If you have been a particularly clever Flicker and have the whole jungle warded, including your own, you can sell your Contraption. This is a bit strange and should only be done if the game is pretty much over, however keeping it for its stat benefits is acceptable.

Reasons for Items Top

There is no particular build order because I don't believe in that. It is subject to the game you are in. Playing against an invisibility character? Maybe get Contraption early. Team need defenses, focus Crucible and Fountain. I generally get Eve of Harvest so you can help your teamates in early fights, but I don't believe in a set path.

What I can say is that while you are building Contraption, you should still be buying Scout Traps and maybe a Flare. Have vision up before you get Contraption. Make sure your Carry knows a gank is coming. Your goal is to know where the enemy is at all times and make sure they keep guessing about where you are.

Here is a short explanation of why I chose thses items:

Fountain of Renewal
-Possibly the best Captain item right now, pop it off and heal your whole team.

Contraption
-I just made a chapter on that...

Halcyon Chargers
-The Cooldown reduction allows you to use your B multiple times in a team fight and readies your ultimate faster.

(Alternative) War Treads
-The teamwide speed burst is nice, but the main reason you get this is the 500 Health to soak up hits for your team.

Eve of Harvest
-Grants energy regen, but mainly Crystal Lifesteal so you can really make the most out of your Fairy Dust.

Frostburn
-The slow really helps Flicker hold enemies down and the Crystal Damage lets him deal damage while supporting the team.

Crucible
-A support item staple, Crucible blocks predictable assaults on your allies, like Ultimates from Kestrel and Ringo.

Strengths and Weaknesses Top

+Constant Vision
+Punishes Heroes with no escape ability
+Powerful Crowd Control

-Lack of heavy damage
-Difficult to restore vision once you lose it all
-Harder to pull a comeback

Final Notes Top

This is a fantastic build for anyone new to Flicker or any player who enjoys using Scout Traps to eyeball the enemy team. They update you on enemy builds, tell you where they are and keep your team safe. It's fairly consistent and fun to play.

I may decide to make a new guide for Flicker or another hero, possibly a complete Flicker Guide, but for now this is a simple build that anyone picking up my favorite little Bleeko is sure to love.

If you have any questions this guide left unanswered, let me know and I'll do what I can to help.

My name is TyphlosionEx and I'll see you on the Fold.
