Gwen, The Dragonrider, the Ace of Hearts, the Diamond in the Rough. Top

Being a new hero, and one I have only played a couple of times, I thought I'd try a gander at my own personal theoretical build idea for our wonderful heroin. I personally am new to the Vainglory game, my background is in League of Legends. I took some time to research what I thought would be the best build idea for Gwen and I'd like to share it, and the strategy behind it, with my fellow vainglory-ianites...

Hopping right to it:

I take the Six shooter right off the bat for the attack speed increase. This is instrumental in the tactics I will be employing throughout the match. Two Halcyon potions for a little bit of early sustain and then I'm off to the races.

Gwen's wonderful Boomstick ability recharges faster based on Attack speed. Basically this allows me to tap on tap off (or stutter) attack the enemy. I will be using this to dance around the edge of the fight for poke damage, and using it to kite my enemies whenever they are feeling confident.

My first few items will include the Sprint Boots, the better for kiting you with, and the items to start building Alternating Current. I want Alternating Current and Aftershock to be the highlights of my build.

Within the first three items I finish building in a match, I want to have the core triple threat which is Aftershock, Alternating Current, and Clockwork. A pair of Sprint Boots, or Travelling boots should be part of your inventory right away and should stay there throughout the game. I build the boots slowly but make sure they are there asap.

The triple threat of AC, AS, and CW work together in a wonderful kiting technique. Basically in order to get the full DPS from this item combo, you want to match the every other basic attack that activates from Alternating Current with Boomstick. Start with a Boomstick hit with a quick basic attack follow up. Start your kite. Against ranged heroes, this is a little more difficult because Gwen's range is shorter than, say, Ringo's range. As soon as the opponent has committed to chasing, drop a Buckshot on them for slow and follow up with that stuttered AC powered Boomstick shot. CW adds the 30% CP to your shots and decreases the CD of your Buckshot, furthering your kiting goals. You can of course use this to chase enemies down, but you have to be careful with Gwen. Her Skedaddle is a great ability to be used offensively and defensively, however if you use it to chase, be aware that you are now vulnerable to counter attacks and ambushes.

The rest of the item build is based on maxing out Gwen's Burst damage potential, with the Tension Bow providing some much needed Armor pierce, and the Halcyon Chargers adding to her sprint and energy recharge capabilities.

I have left the final item out of the Core build because you have options as a Gwen player. You can try to upgrade your CP with a Shatterglass if you like, or add to your survival with a crucible. I like the idea of using Frostburn in tandum with Buckshot for long slows and some DoT. The Contraption is a fun item as well for setting traps to kite your enemies through. That last slot is really up to you.

I am currently in the process of testing this build in Casual matches, but I would invite any other, more seasoned players, to try this build out and let me know if they are doing well with it.

Thanks for reading, and remember to keep that kite game strong!
