QUICK NOTE! 25/3/16 Top

Okay so this guide is obviously really outdated i know so i might update it. I'm thinking of updating Joule or Taka guide, and if not i will make a Ringo or Vox guide. Ringo and Vox was the main reason i got vainglorious bronze for the past 3 seasons and i don't think its fair they don't have a guide by me, haha! Well.. See you guys in 5 years... No, i'm just kidding.

Introduction to Joules and her robot husband Top

Joule is a high mobility hero. Her base health is higher compared to Catherine or Petal. With her Rocket Leap it can do wonders and change the tide of of a battle if you land the stun. Look for opportunities to use your Thunder Strike on multiple enemies. I will explain everything later.

Why Weapon Power?

I Thought of weapon power as Thunder Strike damage is based on 50% weapon power and 20% crystal power. And if you can spam it... Why not go weapon power? If you go crystal power you can deal a lot damage with your Rocket Leap, but if you miss it, you either deal 1/3 the damage or simply misses completely. Your ultimate is based on 400% crystal power, so you can probably use it for one shot kill a squishy target. However, it is, after all, an ultimate and it have high Cooldown. And that's when Thunder Strike, the spamming ability, comes in handy.

Why Crystal Power?

Crystal power will be tons of fun. Many people do this because the ultimate have 400% Crystal poeer scaling, making it very tempting? Wait, that means you can one shot turrets?! Nope. It deals half damage to them. So it will be wiser to use on enemy heroes. Also, your Rocket Leap will deal tons of damage... If you land it. If not, the damage will be 1/3, so I suggest going weapon power for beginners.

Weapon- The Build Top

If you want to jungle you have to get Ironguard Contract. Then obviously, some Halcyon Potion. After that, you can get Blazing Salvo to quickly clear the jungles, so you will get gold faster. It will also be good if you can buy Void Battery along with it since it doesn't let you run of mana too easily. It is also best to have 5 Halcyon Potion at all times, as it's very useful when your low level.

Q: Why get attack speed, when you can reset your attack with thunderstrike?
A: Thunder Strike cost more mana, though more damage as you use it more often in less than 7 seconds. If you continue to use thunder strike, you will soon run out of mana and have to go back. Which is why Void Battery will definitely help when your using a lot of mana for your Thunder Strike. So you can choose to either get attack speed or more mana in you first recall. Best to buy both if can.

The next thing you want to get, is of course, more damage. And to do that you need more weapon power. So get a Sorrowblade. You should start dishing out way more damage than before.

After that, you should get a Serpent Mask if you find yourself always low in health. You will be able to lifesteal your way back up. More sustain anyways, and maybe even win 1vs2.

The next thing you can get a Reflex Block, which will add more sustain to you. Pretty awesome. Just time it correctly and you will survive.

If you have trouble running away or chasing people down, get your Travel Boots anytime except during early game. It will be a waste of 700 gold. Max your boots last.

Weapon- Situational Items Top

If you find yourself lacking damage, stick to an Aftershock. It will ensure you a boosted attack after using a skill. Careful though, the Aftershock's Cooldown is higher than your thunder strike, so you might want to time it or something.

Get Crucibleif there is a Ringo on enemy team, but never get this if there is an Skaarf. Get Aegis for ALWAYS if you see Skaarf. If not, get Crucible.

If you want to, you can also get Tyrant's Monocle instead of Aftershock. It gives You Crit Chance and damage. But keep in mind only when you max Thunder Strike can you then Crit with it. Aftershock deals a percentage of your crystal power, and Tyrant's Monocle adds Crit. Good items.

Get an Frostburn if you can't stick on enemies such as Ringo or Catherine. They can be annoying to catch. it also gives you mana, which is awesome.

Get Tornado Trigger by completing your Blazing Salvo. If you didn't get Tyrant's Monocle then there you go! 25% critical strike chance. Still get this if you got Tyrant's Monocle though.

Having trouble killing due to armor? Don't worry. Switch Tornado Trigger out for Bonesaw, a armor shredder's best friend. Keep in mind that by getting this, you shred the armor, and your teammates will also be able to penetrate it. Unlike Breaking Point, you only pierce it by yourself.

Dying too quickly? Get a Fountain of Renewal to last longer! Use it in the middle of a team fight, and your most probadly going to win as long as the enemy isn't fed. Makes you more Tanky and harder to kill, too! Good item, but just make sure you don't use it too late.

Crystal- The Build Top

Journeeeeeeey booooooots.

This is an good item on Joule. Every ability grants this skill, and crystal Joule is all about using skills. So a definite item on her.

Get this FIRST. This lets you spam your Rocket Leap and Thunder Strike, and still have some mana back. Always really useful.

If there are stunners who like to go for you when channeling your ultimate, get this to block the stun. If timed correctly, this can make plays.

Crystal- Situational Items Top

If you have trouble catching up to your enemies, even with spamming Rocket Leap, this will help. Keep in mind the effectiveness of Frostburn and Aftershock together will decrease slighty.

This might be a uncommon item on Joule, but this actually works really well. I tested it and i just loved putting this in the build. Get this instead of Frostburn if you have no trouble catching up.

For pure damage. Get this if you lack just pure damage.

If you do not lack damage, but fail to survive, get this. You should now survive ganks and encouners you didn't before, and supports your team too!

If you do not lack any damage or defense, get a Clockwork so you can spam your abilites. This is highly recommended to get as you are crystal, and you definitely need cooldown reduction other than Aftershock.

As crystal Joule, you should not auto attack much. But when you do, you should get this to boost your attacks. It is always something.

Get this if they build shield. Just demolish their shield and cut them down. Pew pew pew! And pow pow pow! And you just got a triple kill.

Get Crucibleif there is a Ringo on enemy team, but never get this if there is an Skaarf. Get Aegis for ALWAYS if you see Skaarf. If not, get Crucible.

Abilities and Tips Top

Heavy Plating
Slot: Heroic Perk

Joule takes 30% reduced damage when hit from the front or sides.

Tips:

Rocket Leap
Slot: A

Joule leaps to a target location. Enemies caught underneath Joule take full damage and are stunned, while enemies near the impact are slowed and take 50% damage.

Tips:

  • This tip is very obvious and simple, but it can be very important. Use Rocket Leap to leap over walls either from people chasing you OR to chase people down.
  • Try landing Rocket Leap on multiple enemy to stun all of them. Then follow up with your ultimate or keep thunder striking. It's nearly always a ace if your teammates are with you.
P.S. If adagio is in your team, Gg. Too hard for them.
  • As much as practicing Thunder Strike is important, this is your All-In stun that you MUST land. If you don't land it, you either push them to safety or to danger, so it is a very risky move. That does not mean you should not use this at all. So practice!

Thunder Strike
Slot: B

Joule's mech fires an energy bolt directly in front of her.
  • Cooldown decreases with attack speed.
  • Deals reduced damage to minions.

Tips:

  • Becareful of stuns, they reset your stacks!
  • Turrets no longer grant a stack, so becareful.
  • Thunder Strike costs more mana if you use it more often in less than 7 seconds. However, it deals more damage. So charging it up before fights will be very important. You can charge it up on minions. However, do not use it so soon. Wait till it's about 5 seconds before the stacks' out or you might run out of mana easily, and it can't be used for the team fights, forcing you to back or to think of some way to regain some back.
  • When maintaining / charging up your Thunder Strike, you can strike minions from over the walls in the jungle. Your Thunder Strike goes wherever your facing, so you need to aim carefully. If you miss and you got 5 stacks, bad luck to you. ( takes practice. )
  • Always try and use this on multiple enemy. You can Move-Attack- Thunder Strike-Move-Attack-Move-Attack- Thunder Strike. That way you can reposition to hit multiple enemies!

Big Red Button
Slot: C

Joule fires a massive beam of energy for 1.5s.
  • The force of this beam pushes Joule backward during channeling.
  • Deals 50% less damage to structures.

Tips:

  • This now deals half damage to turrets.
  • Want some style points? Snipe people down with this! Other than Ringo's ultimate, yours have long range and it's channeling is short. Krul's ultimate however needs time to fly out. So yours is the best option to snipe people down. Using this to snipe recalling enemy will be a 90% hit, since they won't be expecting it.
  • Your ultimate can hit turrets. So if you need to destroy a turret fast, use it! Also, you know the 2 turrets at the vain? You can line up your ultimate to hit both of them at once. The ultimate is the ultimate turret killing machine... Other than the one Joule uses. Don't do this unless you really need to, or you have really low Cooldown for it.

Teammates Top

His slow will make your Big Red Button a nearly sure hit. But the stun... 100% hit. He can boost your attacks and heal you, a really good teammate to have.

Just like how she works well with any other heroes, she also works well with Joule. She can keep enemies off her with her stun, which can also make Big Red Button hit easily. She can also silence, which is awesome since any stuns going for Joule will not work. The stacks are saved. Women power OP.

As if his awesome knock back isn't enough, he have all the AOE damage you need.

She have her stun to make sure your ultimate will hit. And if she have Frostburn ( I don't know why she wouldn't ) she can slow the enemy for you, making it harder to dodge your Thunder Strike and ultimate.

He have yet another stun for Joule's Big Red Button, but he must hit the sword first. But don't forget about his slows!

She have her flowers of awesomeness which can boost you significantly if 5 are all stacked.

He have his slow which makes dodging your ultimate and Thunder Strike harder. He also have his long range ultimate, which if it targets a out of sight hero, he will get technically revealed. Thats when your Big Red Button comes in handy!

He have his AOE damages, along with the AOE slow. Really good with your Rocket Leap, because once you land it, he and you can finish 3 person off in seconds.

His ultimate provides alot of cover, but YOU in turn have to cover HIM while he channels it. Teamwork, dude, teamwork. Don't forget his Goop slows!

He have his ultimate, which provides a 50% lesser heal rate on the hero its used on. He also have his invisibility which can scout areas out for you, making it easier to snipe down players with Big Red Button or to Rocket Leap over the wall to surprise attack.

Keep in mind the effectiveness of each teammate is not by what hero they use, but by how they use each hero.

The End...? Top

That's it for now! I will add in more as time goes on and on and on and on... Sorry, I malfunctioned. Anyways, thank you guys so much for reading everything, thumbs up if you liked it!... Wait, this seems so much like youtube.
