Introduction Top

Hi, I'm P0m3granat3. Some of you may know me from my Baron and Petal guides, and now we have this one. Flicker is close to my heart as he reminds me of my favorite book series Redwall. I honestly don't find roam Flicker very appealing, so, well, here we are! Onto the build! Keep in mind this is a WIP.

I: Flicker Top

Before we can understand this build and how to use it effectively, we must first understand the hero. Let's break it down.

Flicker is a designated roamer with an average crystal and weapon output (for a roamer) and a very unique way of supporting teammates. Rather than providing heals, barrier, buffs, or teleports, like most roamers do, Flicker makes up for it with one of the best CC (Crowd Control) games in Vainglory. He utilizes stealth to establish vision in enemy territory, has a long root, and probably the best slow in the game.

Flicker's in-game description may be "Low", but let me tell you, that is false. Flicker may be easy enough to pick up as a third or fourth backup character, but he is extremely difficult to master. This is because of the fact that you must exploit only the best tactics and strategies-which, of course, means you have to think of them in the first place.

Like I've mentioned before, Flicker is a roamer. So, why play as a laner? One good perspective is simple: he's great at poke and aoe farming. If the enemy laner is one who must focus less on aggression and more on farm such as Glaive or Blackfeather, you can afford to poke them often as Binding Light has a small energy cost-barely a tenth of Flicker's energy early game. Flicker can easily get out of certain ganks. For this subject, I'll note three normally hazardous gankers. Catherine, Glaive, Joule. They all have a powerful stun at their disposal. However, Flicker can stop Catherine's stun by correctly timing his B, slowing Catherine so she never reaches you to stun you. Glaive, once having stunned you, is slow and easy to root. Joule is easy to slow and get out of range. Additionally, it is deceptively easy to establish vision with flicker as you don't need to be seen while doing so.

Let's look at Flicker's abilities.

Heroic Perk

Willow Whisper
VGFire Entry:

Hero: Flicker | Slot: Heroic Perk
Flicker gains stealth and a move speed bonus when in brush for a short duration. Flicker can then leave the brush and remain stealthed for a time. Taking damage or using abilities removes stealth.

This is Flicker's main self-utility and life saving tool. Flicker stealths after 2 seconds(he can move while charging) and stealth is lost after 3 seconds(outside of the brush it was established in). Use it to sneak through the enemy jungle. Many a time I have stolen farm from the enemy jungle, then had them notice me as I finish of the last minion. I quickly dash to the nearest bush and wait. The enemy has a tendency to follow in pursuit and most often comes into the brush I am laying stealthed in. I wait, biding my time, and when I'm ready, I engage(or I don't, if I know the enemy is stronger, of course).

First Ability

Binding Light
VGFire Entry:

Hero: Flicker | Slot: A|6/5.5/5/4.5/4|30/40/50/60/70
Flicker commands his fairies to swarm a target location, dealing damage to enemies standing within it. When the effect expires, fairy light roots any enemy heroes still within the area.
DETAILS:
Damage/sec:75/150/225/300/375(25% Crystal Ratio)
Root Duration: 1/1/1/1/1.5

I think that the ability is decent, but its main use is to block paths of escape and deal some extra damage. Because of the abysmal crystal ratio, but low cooldown and energy cost, this ability can be used in most situations. Don't get mad at yourself if you can't land the root-I only land it about five times per game.

Second Ability

Fairy Dust
VGFire Entry:

Hero: Flicker | Slot: B|15/14/13/12/11|60/70/80/90/100
Flicker swirls fairy dust around him, slowing and dealing damage to anyone inside the dusted area. After a short duration, the dust ignites, dealing a burst of damage.
DETAILS:
Range: 4/4/4/4/4
Damage/sec: 30/60/90/120/180 (50% Crystal Ratio)
Detonate Damage: 60/120/180/240/360 (100% Crystal Ratio)
Slow: 40%/45%/50%/55%/70%

As you can see, this is an insane crowd control with great damage and extremely high utility. Overdrive in almost every situation. Its uses can go from simply slowing everything to landing the perfect Fairy Dust---> Big Red Button---> Ion Cannon combo. Helps to land your root.

Ultimate/Third Ability

Mooncloak
VGFire Entry:

Hero: Flicker | Slot: C|120/105/90|100/100/100
Flicker and his allies temporarily gain stealth and a move speed bonus. The stealth will break when a hero uses an ability, attacks or takes damage.
DETAILS:
Duration: 8/9/10

This ability is great, but I should clear up some common misbeliefs first. Okay, first of all, one person using an ability will not reveal the whole team. It will only reveal them. Second of all, yes, does have a global range. use thi ability to escape or initiate. It's kind of funny when that Joule is about to kill you and you simply vanish before her.

Now that you know more about the hero, we can get on with details.

II: The Build Top

This build is meant for excelling at crowd control, poke, and team utility. I consider it to have a higher learning curve than most other Flicker builds because you require more skillshot capability and technical skill. Early game, this build focuses on poking and farming, carefully taking minions and racking up gold for late game-where Flicker dominates. Later on, in the middle of the game when the laning phase ends and teamfights become frequent, try to stay back until you need to use you B to cc all over the enemies, then go ham on them by smashing their faces in with a lantern.
