  No Threat
3
Ardan He is not a major threat to Grumpjaw as long as he is dealt with effectively. If he is your roamer his A is perfect for saving or protecting Grumpjaw as he uses his ult or escapes from battle.
3
Lance His slow attack speed make him a small threat if you are facing him alone. Be careful of his stuns/root so build reflex before this becomes a threat. He has low compatibility with Grumpjaw when he is the team's captain.
4
  No Threat
5
Taka Build shield or armor depending on the Taka or use slumbering husk to survive the burst damage. Living Armor can protect you from his attacks but be aware that Taka might be hard to pin down.
6
Adagio Long ranged attacker that can peel off Living armor with basic attacks. The best way to counter him is to attack him by surprise or use your ult to bring him to your side of the battle.
6
Glaive Build armor as needed due to the high weapon he has. Beware of his A as it can stun you and push you away from the battle field. Build AC if fighting against him in order to keep stacks of living armor.
6
Lyra Be careful of her B as it cancels out lunging skills. If needed use your ult on her in order to cancel her support of the enemy team. When she is your roamer she can heal you allowing for safer fights and easier takedowns.
6
Baron Focus on dodging his A and use Grumpjaw's ult or A in order to take him out Do not allow him to gain WP or CP early game so gank him often when he is in lane.
7
  No Threat
8
Alpha Dangerous to fight against if she builds attack speed and burst damage. Use your ult on her so she will lose stacks of BP or BM if possible.
8
Blackfeather Dangerous if WP is built due to attack speed. His elusive playing style can be a problem so to counter him build frost burn or shiversteel in
9
Petal Petal can easily take off stacks of living armor when she is kiting. Counter her with Grumpjaw's Ult and focus on slowing her so that you can hit her with Hangry.
9
Skaarf A firebreather with a huge attitude Skaarf is a dangerous foe for Grumpjaw to face in the Fold. Do not get caught in Goop unless you have a big death wish. In order to defeat him attack quickly with grumpy then hangry or separate him from his allies with stuffed.
10
Idris His burst damage, ranged attack(if CP) and attack speed make him a major threat. To defeat him use your ult in order to pin him down and do not try to chase him for to long. Building Atlas Pauldron mid game is recommended if Idris attack speed is becoming a problem
10
SAW Pretty much a danger to every single non-burst damage hero when he has full stacks of spin up. Surprise him with Grumpy and finish him off with hangry. Do not rush him out in the open since he can take out stacks of living armor in a flash. If he is a CP user beware the huge amount of burst damage from his skills. Stuffed can help you take him out if he has full stacks of spin up.

(Edit)After some tests I have changed the CP Grumpjaw build greatly

There are four builds(WP/CP/Captain/Troll) in the guide

The Grump

As the hero released in the recent 2.2 update Grumpjaw is one of the newest member of the fold. His bulky and aggressive fighting style make him a dangerous opponent to up against. While bulky his skills are more focused on dangerous surprise attacks than long confrontation. Although he has a rather large size Grumpjaw is pretty mobile and his skills can be used in a variety of ways. His main role is currently in the Jungle but his bulkiness gives him the ability to be tanky support for his team.

Skills

Living Armor (Heroic Perk)
Grumpjaw's hardened carapace grants him increased defenses. Every few seconds and every time he basic attacks, he gains a stack of Living Armor, up to a maximum of 5 stacks. Each stack grants bonus Armor and Shield. Enemies can remove stacks of Living Armor by dealing damage to Grumpjaw. He loses one stack per second while taking damage from basic attacks and abilities.

This Ability allows him to stay tough in long battles and powers up his A

Grumpy (A)
Grumpjaw charges to a target location, dealing crystal damage and slowing enemies in an area upon reaching his destination. Grumpjaw deals bonus damage for each stack of Living Armor.
DETAILS:
Range: 10/10/10/10/10
Damage: 75/125/175/225/325 (50% Crystal Ratio)
Stack: 20/35/50/65/95 (10% Crystal Ratio)
Slow: 55%/55%/55%/55%/55%

Grumpjaw's A is one of his most powerful skills if built crystal. It can be used to punish enemies that try to run away or gank an unsuspecting laner. One other use for this skill is mobility. Hangry is probably be better against heroes like Krul unless you are doing a surprise attack. Be very careful not miss when using this skill.

Here is a video courtesy of Nerdy Psycho which shows a lot of the walls Grumpjaw can pierce through.
(p.s. when going through walls make sure that you are touching the wall or you might get stuck)

Hangry (B)
Grumpjaw leaps toward his target and attacks them. Afterward, he gains bonus weapon damage and attack speed for several seconds.
DETAILS:
Bonus Speed Duration: 4/4/4/4/5
Damage: 5/25/45/65/85 (80% Crystal Ratio)
Attack Speed: 60%/75%/90%/105%/135%

This skill powers up Grumpjaw's basic attacks and gives him increased attack speed. It is very useful when fighting bulky opponents and can be used to lunge towards a target. Be careful in how you use it because if it is done incorrectly the skill will not work. If targets are near each other you can switch target while this ability is still active.

Hangry Causes Grumpjaw's back to glow orange if activated so use this to know whether this ability is still activated.

Stuffed (C)

Grumpjaw lunges forward, grabbing the first enemy hero in his path and devouring them whole. While the enemy is inside Grumpjaw's belly, they are unable to move or act and their vision range is reduced to zero. After a few seconds, Grumpjaw will spit the enemy out in the direction he is facing. Grumpjaw can reactivate the ability to spit the enemy out early in a direction of his choice. If Grumpjaw is stunned, killed, or otherwise interrupted while eating, he will release his victim early.
DETAILS:
Damage: 400/500/700 (200% Crystal Ratio)
Stun Duration: 3/3/3

Grumpjaw's Powerful ult is essential to playing him in the mid/late game. Stuffed allow Grumpjaw to reposition an enemy away from the rest of its team. If paired with Ardan's A (the disks) he can safely escape enemy fire while doing this. Refrain from using stuffed during team battles since there is a high chance the enemy will be released.
Use Stuffed when you have boots ready as well as to cut off an enemy team's Captain from their team during a teamfight. By doing this a captain will be unable to activate items during key moments of the battle.

(important) Work with your teammates to combo stuffed with ults and other abilities. For example drop an enemy in front of Celeste's ult, carry an enemy back into Ardan's Gauntlet, or drop them in the middle of Kestrel's mist.

WP Jungler Tips

- When playing WP max out hangry quickly in order to maximize damage.

- if possible start off with hangry first then switch to grumpy in order to catch the opponent if they flee

- If more attack speed is needed switch TM with TT as it will allow you to build stacks of living armor faster.

- Poisoned shiv can be exchanged with TM but only if the enemy is building a lot of health items (i.e. Slumbering Husk) or your fighting Krul, Rona, Adagio, or Lyra (opponents with powerful heals/lifesteal).

-Bonesaw is only good if the enemy has a lot of armor so only build it if this happens.(hopefully Bonesaw will get changed in future updates)

- As WP Grumpjaw focus on pressuring your opponents with surprise attacks and don't be afraid of getting into a 1 v 1. Hangry is WP Grumpjaw main skill and the most useful one he has so use only when needed if you build no energy.

CP Jungler Tips

- Do not get AC since it will not help Grumpjaw's damage output.

- Stormcrown is good for damage output early game.

- Focus on having low cooldown times and high amounts of energy so you can constantly activate hangry/grumpy.

- Clockwork allows Grumpjaw to consistently activate hangry while boosting his CP by 30%.

- Only get Shatterglass if you believe you will need more CP damage instead of the slow. Shatterglass is best if you have prolonged teamfights against high sustain enemies.

- Frostburn is essential for Grumpjaw since it amplify the slow from Grumpy and makes it easier to execute kills.

- If you know you can aim it correctly and you have Frostburn use Grumpy first in order to cause a powerful slow on you foe.
- If you build clockwork hangry can still do much damage but you have to be more aware of how you use it so that you know when it is activated and when it is not (a.k.a look for orange glow on his back).

Captain Tips

- Exchange the Stormcrown or contraption for echo if you need to activate his ult twice

- Buy breaking point instead of stormcrown if you notice that team fight are lasting long.

- Aim Nullwave gauntlet at an opponent after using Grumpjaw's A or C since this prevents them from activating an item to either get away or save an ally.

- from what i've learned after playing captain Grumpjaw a lot if there is nothing you can do damage wise just stall for time for your jungler or carry.

Overall Tips

- To maximize the usefulness of Stuffed use it on the enemy's carry or Captain during fights. Doing this will stop the captain from activating fountains or other items allowing for your team to take out the enemy or cause the carry to lose stacks of BP, BM or their perk.

- Get shiversteel in order to cancel out a high mobility opponent's escape during early/mid game then use hangry to take them out.

- By placing Grumpy in the desired direction Grumpjaw can escape dangerous battles. This skill can also go through walls so use it to surprise opponents in the jungle or escape perfectly. Grumpy can also be used to dash away from enemies after using Grumpjaw's ult. To do cool surprise attacks encourage your captain (if jungling) to buy vision and place it in strategic areas in the jungle.

- Buy certain defensive items depending on the situation.

- Keep using stuffed to stall for time if needed

- I recommend buying slumbering husk if burst damage is a problem because it allows Grumpjaw to get into an out of a fight safely, especially when trying to get a low health enemy that is hiding behind its allies.

- When Jungling you can buy a fountain if the enemy team is low on stuns or status effects. The fountain allows Grumpjaw to 1v1 heroes like Krul, or Joule for longer.

- When using hangry pivot by switching targets but do not tap to move a new position as this can cancel out the skill.

- Whether you're a captain or a CP jungler consider whether to max out hangry or stuffed depending on the situation. If your WP I recommend maxing out hangry and grumpy.

-Overall from what i've practiced I believe WP is much better than CP the only difference being the high amounts of burst damage you get from CP and the fact that you can use abilities much more often. Cp Grumpjaw is much more situational than WP Grumpjaw is so it is best to use CP when you have a good captain and a carry that will follow up your attacks well enough.

(THREATS ARE UNDER THE CP BUILD ONLY FOR NOW)
