Brief sen8sei Intro Top

There's not much to say about me. This is the first MOBA I am really getting into and I am already quite addicted. Vainglory is such a well-made game.

I am a developer as a hobby, head over to Youtube and check out some of the things I mess around with. You can find me as sen8sei, no need for links and self-advertising shenanigans.

I like ranged heroes the most, Skye being my first love, Kestrel was second and now Lyra is my new love. My playstyle is very aggressive, I do not back away from a fight vs an opponent unless I have all odds against me at that moment... My heroes are weak to withstand enemy blows, but that doesn't stop me from pushing the enemy or the lane back where it came from. I use tactic, positioning and timing as my weapons of choice. When things go south, I always have a plan B, plan C and a plan "**** It Let's Do It".

When I am at the top of my game, I always finish matches 8-15/1/7-11... The one death being a tiny ****-up during the match but then again I am new and still learning and not perfect. This also depends on having such a good team that can do their job right of course.

My current profile level is 13 and 69 wins, very newbie but not bad for two weeks into the game I believe.

Friendly Reminder Top

I do not build guides for others to use, nor do I recommend them at all. I am very new to MOBA, Vainglory would be my first official MOBA game, unless you consider four days of heavy HotS gameplay official.

This would be my first published guide on Vaingloryfire, my other guides are hidden.

So why do I write these guides? So that I can look back at them and improve my personal game.

I also put these out here so that Pro players can add suggestions to my builds or improve them. Note Pro players only, although I do not consider myself to be one just yet (quite far from it actually)

This is a build for casual, I do not have enough heroes yet to enter ranked and test my skill.

Explaining the Gameplay & Build Top

Lyra is a very fragile character, that needs protection in order to succeed.

This build focuses on heavily reducing the enemy's movement speed, while still dishing out a decent amount of Crystal Damage, healing allies and assisting them in the Lane or in the Jungle as quickly as possible.

Our main ability will be Imperial Sigil (patch 1.22) which will be used to either keep the enemy at bay or heal our ally thanks to the increased heal bonuses that we are aiming for.

The ideal partner for Lyra will be a tank that can take the damage for you and cover incoming enemy fire, while Lyra can then attack the enemy to keep them back and/or heal the ally and guarantee for both a safe return.

Time Bright Bulwark wisely and you become unreachable.

Our goal with this build is to support the team, slowing enemies for your dps to catch up to them and ensure the kill, or to do it yourself in any case. Poke the enemy so that they are doing the running and not the other way around. Place your Imperial Sigils with tactic in mind, either to keep the enemy at bay or rescue an ally with a quick heal + burst speed bonus.

Build Tree Explanation:

Imperial Sigil is our main ability for this build, so it needs to max first.

Bright Bulwark is fine with one point at first, max it out as soon as available to do so.

Arcane Passage allows us to quickly escape to safety or catch up to fleeing dead enemy.

I find so far that there is no need to get extra fancy with the ability's tactics & strategies, at least in casual, that will get you killed because you are not playing with extremely experienced pros that can react fast enough to what you will be doing or not doing at any given moment of a fight.

Simply put, use Imperial Sigil like you own those spots you place it on, Bright Bulwark well-timed and you cannot be reached (forget about "trapping" the enemy or your dead) (unless you have Arcane Passage maxed out and mastered) and use Arcane Passage to annoy your enemy even further. Fire Basic Attack + Perk whenever possible... Although to get Last-Hits you need to stutter walk (don't know the term) and target/shoot at the enemy target. Very Important! Only release your perk's second missile when you either A) Know the target will die upon impact or B) That second missile HAS to slow that target right now or never...

Bonus C) If you are ballsy use the missile to further poke the enemy to death in Lane (this tactic works better in Lane). Use extreme caution or you are dead right where you stand.

Item Explanation:

Starting Items

I personally like to start with Swift Shooter since it slightly boosts your basic attack firing speed starting the game, that way you can help your ally shoot down an enemy a bit faster and quickly move on to the next objective. You might want to change that starting item as you see fit.

Two Halcyon Potion just to make sure you stay alive early in the game. You don't want to die 5 minutes into the game or that could make you look bad as you are in fact the team's support.

Core

Frostburn is necessary for this build's style as of the nerf Principle Arcanum received patch 1.22. Lyra's slow is a very powerful tool that when used properly, makes your enemy tap his screen to the death trying to reach safety. Slowing your target at this level will leave them no choice but to run back, allowing your damager to catch up to them easily and finish them off or allowing you to personally go for the kill. This item is a must for this build.

Alternating Current will allow us to fire at maximum speed, thus channeling our Principle Arcanum perk missile faster at the enemy target. With Principle Arcanum slowing effect plus our added Frostburn slowing effect, we are back at the top of enemy movement reduction.

Crucible will grant us a +600 health point bonus which is crucial for our healing ability. Since you should always aim to be near an ally supporting them, the Reflex Block will come in handy for a save.

Fountain of Renewal grants us +200 more health points, a passive Lifespring to recover when out of danger, Shield + Armor bonus and a health-replenishing active.

War Treads grants us another +500 more health points, adding to our Imperial Sigil a now total bonus of +1300 points. A 2 second speed boost to all nearby allies to catch a fleeing enemy or escape to safety together.

Situational Items:

Depending on the match, start building towards the items you'll be needing. Remember to check the enemies items often.

Video is an example of another build aimed towards Lane pushing while heals at minimum potential, given the circumstances of the match and the team roster.
