Lance Just dodge impale, avoid gythian wall situations and block atlas. Not too hard to deal with
5
Taka A weapon power taka isn't much of a problem. Cp taka is the main trouble. Attack him while he is visible and try to attack anything around you with resonance when he usues kaku. The bounces will reveal and you can ult him.
6
Ringo Ringo has a range advantage against Vox making it very easy for him to harrass and kill you. When faeming in lane against him, use the minions to bounce damage onto him. It may not be a lot but it's good enough to keep him off of you. Try not to jump onto him in a team fight unless you have a lot of bp stacks or you have your team backing you up
6
Skye Skye isn't too dangerous as long as you know how to dodge her barrage and Suri strike damage. Even though her Suri strike is mainly for repositioning, it still does a lot of damage and isn't worth getting hit by.
6
Glaive Glaive is dangerous going weapon Power or crystal Power but the meta of today contains more of crystal cooldown.vox's very short range make sure it difficult to fight without getting afterburners, so try to block it with reflex block or sonic zoom before he can hit you with the knockback so you get knocked into a more favorable position.
7
Adagio Lane Adagio's really long range makes it almost impossible for vox to trade damage in lane. Try your best to stay far enough from the minions so you don't catch fire when he heals the minions. Get book of eulogies first buy if you struggle against him so you get health regen.

9
Lyra Lyra is really dangerous whether she is cp or support. Support Lyra is the biggest threat to vox out of the too because her sigil provides so much heal and will allow her carries to easily outlast vox. Her bright bulwark prevents vox from kiting efficiently. A team comp with a support Lyra will often have double range carries. Try to be aggresive and have your team engage onto them before they can poke you down.
9
Joule Joule is making her way into the meta. And that's not great news for a wp vox player. Her heavy plating reduces damage dealt to her as long as she is facing you. If you end up against a joule as weapon power vox, try your best to dodge her thunder strike with sonic zoom.

Introduction Top

Hey. My IGN is Dark487. I'm currently T10 bronze. Some of you may know me as that boosted son of a gun who sucks at ranked. Others might know be as a good guy who deserves his vainglorious status. Whoever you are, I hope this guide helps you.

FYI: This guide is more about team fighting than basic early and mid game strategy.
Its also pretty lengthy and there's a lot of reading. Sorry about that :/

How to use Sonic Zoom Top

Vox is a unique hero in Vainglory. His playstyle differs from other carries because of the fact that his range is so low compared to most other ranged heroes. This short range is both good and bad. It forces you to be aggresive in positioning, allowing you to make plays, but also can put you in many dangerous situations. Because of this, mastering the use of his [A] ability, Sonic Zoom is an extremely important step to winning the game.

Dodging

Dodging is an important skill needed to order to survive as Vox. There are many skill shots in this game that can be dodged with a simple sonic and In turn allow you to deal heavy damage while minimizing the damage you take.

Let's say you are against a support Lance. His impale is a big crowd control ability. A lance team will often be the team that engages, and a common engage tool is using impale. Sonic zooming out of it puts Lance in his full recovering because he did not hit anything, allowing your team to then jump on the enemy jungler or laner freely.

Other dodgable abilties include, but aren't limited to: Afterburn Forward Barrage Death From Above, Spitfire, Glimmershot, Rocket Leap, Core Collapse, and On Point.

Learning to dodge requires you to focus a lot on what you are trying to dodge. It will be difficult at first but the more you try the easier it gets and eventually it will just be a subconscious reaction.k

Here's a video made by xmusa on the walls that vox can dash through. The video is from all the way back in 1.14 by the locations haven't changed.

When to use Wait For It... Top

Vox's ult Wait for It is a bit underpowered when going weapon Power. However, if used at the right moment, it can unnoticeably win team fights. Now of course, you use the ability on a group of people. That's self explanatory. But it's not always the best idea to just throw it out there when they are clumped together. Using it in combination with other hero abilties will give the best results.

For example let's assume you are getting chased down by taka. Your support, Ardan, throws down a Guantlet. You want to get to the outside of the Guantlet to sepearate yourself from taka but you know that he can easily Kaiten through or even use Reflex Block to pass through. By using your ult right before you run out of the guantlet, taka will attempt to kaiten or activate reflex block right when the silence comes out. Then he will be silenced and end up running right into the wall and get stunned, which can lead to more crowd control being placed onto him and hopefully result in a kill.

You can also use it on an overextended hero to prevent him from escaping and allow your team to kill him.

And don't be afraid to throw your ult at the enemy team when taking kraken. If used when the kraken is about to be unleashed, the silence can be just enough to prevent them from using any abilities to try to steal it.

Max [A] first or Max [B] first Top

It's common knowledge to max both Sonic Zoom and Pulse on Vox. The only problem is...which one do you max first. It depends on personal preference and the current situation of the game. If you find that you use your sonic zoom a lot in the early it's it's not a bad idea to upgrade it first to lower its cooldown and get the extra damage it deals when maxed. If you are farther back in the early games and focus more on last hitting, maxing Pulse first is probably better.

Personal preference isn't bad at all, but sometimes the game calls for maxing one over the other. If you are constantly getting ganked by the enemy jungler, it's probably better to max sknic zoom first in order to get the lower cooldown so you can escape easier. If you are constantly getting harassed by the enemy laner, it's better to max your Pulse first. The reason is because each upgrade on Pulse increases your resonance bounce damage by a little bit, making it hard for the enemy laner to harrass you without taking damage themselves.

When to be Aggresive and When to be Passive in Team Fights Top

There's a time to be aggresive and a time to be scared. Being able to identify when to dive and when to run is very important when playing Vox and any laner in general. If you know when an ability is on cooldown and know how long it's on cooldown for, you can very aggresive and get away with it.

A maxed Impale when no cooldown items are equipped is 7 seconds. A maxed Gythian Wall is 5 seconds. Let's say a team fight starts. You are attacking Lance to build breaking point stacks because if you dive in you will get stunned or rooted. Lance then uses his gythian wall on the enemy jungler to knock him away from the enemy laner. Unless you are atlased, this is the perfect opportunity to dive into the enemy laner. Gythian wall won't be up for another 4 seconds and as long as you dodge the Impale you won't have to worry about any crowd control from the roamer for a few seconds. But Ofcourse you have to make sure your team is going with you so you aren't overextending.

Knowing cooldowns is important to winning team fights. It's useful for any role in the game, not just lane.

Reflex Block Top

Sonic Zoom is a very useful tool that can be used to dodge a lot of crowd control and negative effects. However, there are some instances where you will not be able to dodge the incoming effect. That is were Reflex Block comes in. Learning to reflex block effectively is extremely important when laning, especially when playing a low ranged hero like Vox.

Atlas Pauldron is the best item in the game to hinder an attack speed dependent. carry. If the effect hits, it removes a huge amount of your team's potential damage. But, atlas does happen to have a visible animation. If you can pay attention to when this animation is being used you can effectively block the attack speed slow.

The problem with Reflex Block is that it can only be used once every 45 seconds. It is important to know what you need to reflex block and what to deal with.

Thanks for reading my guide. Whether you enjoyed it or not I hope it helped in some way.
