Slot: Heroic perk
Vox's abilities mark enemies with Resonance. When basic attacking enemies with Resonance, bolts will bounce outwards to two nearby enemies dealing 20/60/80/100/140 (+90% crystal ratio) crystal damage and refreshing and spreading Resonance. (Resonance bounces deal 50% damage to minions.)
NOTE: You can see a visual effect on charachters with resonance. Get used to it.


Sonic Zoom
Slot: A
This ability is so important for Vox. Damage and repositioning. It resets the auto attack and it lands 2 attacks. So you can AA (auto attack) - A - AA to output 4 basic attack in a row. Keep this on mind. It's very important. Later we'll see why.


Pulse
Slot: B
Both in WP and CP patch I suggest to start with this one. Your range is not the best and Vox suffers a lot heroes who outranges him. In the starting phases your goal is to hit the enemy laner with your Pulse in order to apply resonance. Than go back and attack the closest minion to the other carry so that you can poke him with resonance. Never forget that Pulse applies a slow that is significantly stronger near its center. This could be very useful on a retreat or in combo with your jungler AOE damage. In your CP path this ability is crucial because you have to apply resonance to enemy heroes.


Wait for it
Slot: C
Nerfed during time is still useful but you have to use it correctly. If WP you may prefer the silence effect and use it to start a fight. If CP you should prioritize the Rosonance effect or use it with Broken Myth at full stack to maximise your following bounce damage.
NOTE: Striking enemy heroes with the shockwave will also cause Resonance to bounce.

Build and strategy Top

Secure Kills!

First of all: PRACTISE on last-hitting minions. Your creep-score should be around 10 creeps per minute. It means that at 5 minutes you should have 50 minion, at 10 minutes you should have 100 minions, and so on.
This is a good starting point because it means that you know how to last hit. Once you get better and find more skilled opponents you can focus on have more minions than the nemy carry. Your role is bring damage in the battle. Damage is items. Items are gold. Gold is last-hit minions. Carry = DMG = Items = Gold = last hitting minions.
If you can't last hit practise on it if you want to lane. Otherwise chose another role. Please :)
I have guides for Lance or Alpha, maybe you are a good captain or a good jungler instead of a poor carry! If your CS is good or if it's often better than the enemy laner... keep on reading!

Vox is definitely a late game hero. For sure your Sonic Zoom can help you a lot to dodge skillshots expecially in the early game, but you will lose a lot of matchup versus other laners that outrange you, so be smart on draft.
If you feel comfortable in late game replace Metal Jacket from the suggested WP build with another red item. Maybe a Bonesaw.
In your WP path charge your Breaking Point stacks attacking the nearest enemy (probably the captain), then dive in with Sonic Zoom and explode everything. In your CP path avoid 1 VS 1. You'll lose if you can't apply bounce damage. If CP try to apply resonance to all enemy heroes with Pulse, if you can't, you won't do any damage. Once resonance is applyed, attack from a safe position, even the other captain if he's the nearer enemy and let your bounce explode the others. Late game you can bring to the battlefield and insane amount of damage with only 3 attack items. Let's see why.

Math Top

I'll try to explain why this WP build is so largely used.
Assumptions:
  1. Level 12
  2. The enemy has a total of 116 Armor. 86 base armor (true for 21/30 of the current heroes and for every laner except SAW) + 30 for Aegis.

Your Weapond damage (WD) is = 149
NOTE: This is remarkable because is one of the higest value for a ranged carry and is one of the two reasons why this build works on Vox

With the suggested build with Breaking Point at 0 stacks the Weapon Power (WP) is = 155 (55 BP + 50 TM * 2)

Your Base attack is:
BA = WD + WP = 149 + 155 = 304

The attack is mitigated by the enemy armor. The base damage will be:
BD= BA /(1+Armor/100)=304/(1+116/100)= 141

Your Crit_Chance are = 80% (40%*2, for each Tyrant's Monocle).

Your percentage of Crit Damage (%_Crit_DMG) is 190% (150% base + 20%*2 for each Tyrant's Monocle).

Your Crit Damage (Crit_DMG) will be: %_Crit_DMG*BD = 1.9*141 = 267

Your attack speed base is 1.51
NOTE: This is remarkable because is the higest value for any hero and is the second reason why this build works on Vox

The lift on the attack speed is 0.35 (for the Breaking Point)

Your Attack Speed (ATK_Speed) is 1.86. This means you land 1.86 hit/second.

We can say that 80% of your attacks will inflict 190% of the damage and the 20% of your attacks will inflict normal damage. Let's translate this:

Crit_hit/sec = Crit_Chance*ATK_speed = 80%*1.86 = 1.49
Normal hits/sec = (1-Crit_Chance)*ATK_Speed = 20%*1.86 = 0.37

Let's calculate the damage
Crit_DMG/sec = Crit_hit/sec * Crit_DMG = 1.49 * 267 = 398
Normal_DMG/sec = Normal hits/sec * BD = 0.37 * 141 = 52

The total damage per second (DPS) will be:
DPS = Crit_DMG/sec + Normal_DMG/sec = 398 + 52 = 450

Now remeber that we had 0 stack on Breaking Point. So this is the lowest amount of damage. You can easily verify that after the first attack you can already have stacks. You can also verify that this DPS is the highest in every case EXCEPT if the enemy build a Metal Jacket. In this case use the second build suggested.
With a Sorrowblade, a Breaking Point and a Tyrant's Monocle you have 445 DPS at 0 BP stacks.
At full stacks with Sorrowblade, Breaking Point, Tyrant's Monocle, you'll have 721 DPS.
With the suggested build Breaking Point, Tyrant's Monocle, Tyrant's Monocle, you'll have the insane amount of 821 DPS.

Always add a Weapon Infusion for more fun!

This is why that build is so used on Vox. In fact if you try to replace the values of Weapon Damage and Attack speed with another hero you can see that that build can be replaced by another for more DPS.

Furthermore, using, as previous said, AA- Sonic Zoom-AA you can land 4 basick attacks in a row and charge up yuur BP stacks very easily.

You can change the values and verify your build!

It's also very important to note that we are talking of a full build. Your damage output will be very small until you won't buy the second Tyrant's Monocle so if you want to use this build... FARM FARM FARM.

If you want more damage mid-game start with a Sorrowblade.

Don't forget to stutter step. You will boost your damage up to 18%.

The CP path is more "straight", I won't do math for that because the options are less in my opinion and quite forced by energy consuption, shields, gameplay, etc...

Tips and tricks Top

  • Sonic Zoom cam jump small walls. Try yourself in practise mode.
  • Remeber the combo: AA-A-AA (auto attack - Sonic Zoom - auto attack) to maximise your damage.
  • The slow on Pulse is massively underrated. Use it as you are running away to slow down enemies and ensure an escape combined with your Sonic Zoom. That's why I suggest you to always max this ability.
  • In the laning phase, if the enemy laner or minions are close to the lane bushes, attack them. If the bounces go to a bush where there is no vision, you will know there is an enemy there likely waiting to gank.
  • When Pulse hits enemies that you don’t have vision on, a little circle appears where the enemy is in the Pulse. You can use this to check bushes for enemies and save gold instead of buying scout traps YES, IF YOUR CAPTAIN DOESN'T PLACE SCOUT TRAPS IN LANE BUSHES AS A CARRY YOU SHOULD BUY THEM. DON'T BE GANKED IS YOUR RESPONSABILITY FIRST... or pick Vox and check bushes with Pulse :)

Synergy Top

Speed boost Ardan gives you with Vanguard is a great chioce to reposition yourself after a deep Pulse into enemy lines to apply resonance. His Gauntlet is a good box for your CP damages.
Lance is good with Vox. He can peel the enemy from you so you can use your Sonic Zoom to do damage instead to give away from danger.
Thanks her shield and stun Catherine is very good for you. AND... double silence!
Heal and buff. BUT you would prefer a captain with more HP. Good.
Phinn's A and B are very useful for Vox BUT you are a mobile hero while Phinn is not. This may cause some troubles sometimes. Good.
Heal and slow but low HP and you are limited in using Sonic Zoom when healing in Imperial Sigil. Bright Bulwark can create a good separation between you and threats. Good.
