CP Vs. WP and Item Breakdown
Crystal Power
When building CP the power of Lance's basic attacks after using his ultimate gain power and unleash more damage.
Effects like stun and root last longer when built Crystal and this makes it harder for enemies to recover from Lance's Skills. The Passive and Active damage reduction of Gythian wall also increases with more CP allowing Lance to use Gythian wall more defensively
Weapon Power
When building WP Lance's basic attacks do way more damage and with the extra long reach the attacks become dangerous and helps in finishing off those low in health.
Impale and Gythian Wall gain more power when building weapon than crystal allowing him unleash more damage.
Overall Lance's Skills are strong whether built WP or CP and while CP allows Lance to be built stronger defensively, which is effective in team fights WP gives more damage potential making Lance a scary person to confront head-on.
Hybrid
Giving Lance a Shatterglass when building WP can increase the duration of the effects from his abilities and allows his ult to do more damage but it reduces the power of his basic attacks.
Buying a Sorrowblade when building CP can increase the damage of his skills while increasing the power of his basic attacks but it lowers the duration of skill effects that could be gotten from another crystal item.
While these two options sound nice, in most situation it is typically not a good idea to build hybrid since most enemies will build defensively against CP or WP and buying an item of the opposite color can lower the amount of damage you can deal to counter this defense.
For example if an enemy buys a metal jacket and you are going WP but buy a shatterglass late game this lowers the amount of damage you can deal to overcome that WP defense and the CP you get from shatterglass is little compared to the WP you have built most of the game. Roamers also normally have two to three defensive items so buying this will only make it harder to defend or defeat roamers. A Hybrid build is usually useful only when a situation calls for you to use one.
Tension Bow And Broken Myth
These two items provide pierce which increases the amount of damage Lance can do against those that build defensively. This allows Lance to counter those that try to build defensive items so they can survive his damage.
Tension Bow also deals extra weapon damage every six seconds
Broken Myth amplifies the amount of crystal damage that can be done over time and when coupled with the defensive effects of CP Gythian wall it allows Lance to easily gain 5 stacks when in battle against enemies.
Halcyon Chargers
This item allows Lance to gain Stamina faster, gives him extra stamina, and allows him to run away easily all in one. A healthy alternative to this would be Journey boots since they allow Lance to run away faster or chase someone easily when needed.
Fountain of Renewal
A Fountain allows to regain health faster and allows him to to heal himself as well as allies It is a nice Item when fighting enemies than cannot stun you but it is not a good idea when up against Cath, Ardan or other characters that can trap or stun you so Aegis would be a good alternative to a Fountain since it can trigger reflex block protecting you from negative effects.
Abilities
HEROIC PERK
Partisan's Technique
Lance's basic attacks damage every target along their path. However, his attacks are slow to land and attack speed is less effective on him.
Instead of energy, Lance uses stamina to activate his abilities. Purchasing items with energy and energy regeneration increases his stamina and stamina regeneration.
Max Stamina: 100 + 20% Max Energy
Stamina Regen: 15+50% Energy Regen
Slot A
Impale
Slot: A
Lance strikes through his opponents, dealing weapon damage and rooting them in place (max 1.6 seconds). If this attack hits at least one enemy, Lance will immediately recover from the ability. This skill can go through walls and still root enemies. It is hard to aim in close quarters combat so be careful when using it.
Overdrive: If this hits an enemy, it also resets the cooldown of Combat Roll.
Stamina Cost: 30/30/30/30/30
Damage: 160/240/320/400/480
(+0.8 Crystal) (+1.45 Weapon)
Dmg to Minions: 80/120/160/200/240
(+0.6 Crystal) (+0.6 Weapon)
Root Duration: 1/1/1/1/1.3
(+0.1 Crystal)
This move does high burst damage and has an extremely long range. It however leaves Lance extremely open when it misses so gythian wall should be used afterward if it misses.
Slot B
Gythian Wall
Slot: B
Passive: Lance strafes around the enemy he has most recently attacked. While strafing, he reduces damage from the target's direction by up to 50%.
Active: Lance sweeps opponents away with his polearm, dealing weapon damage and also stunning them if they collide with a wall or structure (max 1.6 seconds). Afterward, he holds his shield steadfast, greatly reducing incoming damage from the target direction by up to 90%.
Both the passive and the active damage reduction are 50% effective against turrets.
Overdrive: While active, Lance ignores all debuffs (from any direction).
DETAILS:
Stamina Cost: 30/30/30/30/30
Damage: 70/105/140/175/210
(+0.8 Crystal) (+1 Weapon)
Stun Duration: 0.6/0.7/0.8/0.9/1
(+0.2 Crystal)
Passive Damage Reduction: 10%/12%/14%/16%/20%
(+0.1 Crystal)
Active Damage Reduction: 25%/30%/35%/40%/45%
(+0.15 Crystal)
This move reduces most projectile attack damage coming towards Lance and allows lance to repel melee attackers It is best used to push enemies away from allies or push them towards allies or a wall. This is move can also reveal hidden opponents like Taka or Kestrel if used immediately after they disappear.
When laning and passing by the brush in the middle of the map and suspecting an enemy assault use the active to check if an enemy is hiding within the brush since this will stun hiding enemies who aren't fast enough to react eliminating the element of surprise.
When using the active make sure you don't accidentally push an enemy out of the way of a gank or ult
This skill can also repel those with powerful stuns like Catherine and Glaive as long as you aim at them before they stun you. One example of this would be pushing glaive toward you allies when he tries to push you toward his. Sometime the stun or push from an enemy will still register even after using this ability but normally when this happens the enemy gets pushed by the active at the same time.
Slot C (Ultimate)
Combat Roll
Slot: C
DETAILS:
Stamina Cost: 40/35/30
Damage: 50/100/150
(+0.6 Crystal)
Lance rolls in the target direction. His next basic attack within 2 seconds will strike quickly, dealing bonus crystal damage.
This attack is best used for positioning and allows for quick entry or exit into battle.
When building crystal this ability deals a lot of damage. It is best used when rolling behind enemies and following up gythian wall to push them towards allies or away from turrets.
WP/CP Lane Lance Tips
Lance is strong and defensive tank that lets out a burst of damage with each of his skills. Lance's main focus when using him is positioning and this can become essential to a win. Impale is Lance's primary and strongest skill so use it to trap or take down opposing enemies. Impale has an extremely long reach and can go through walls so use it to surprise enemies. Lances basic attacks strike in a line so they can take out multiple enemies at once. When fighting ranged opponents gythian wall allows Lance to get closer and deal damage with impale. By using gythian wall's active melee attackers can be thrown back and hit with impale. Always follow up with multiple attacks and abilities when using Lance in order to deal maximum damage. Lance is strongest against ranged enemies that attempt to kite him or melee attackers that try to run from him. Lance's greatest weakness is AOE damage as it can bypass his shield and hurt him greatly.
Overall Lance's biggest priorities when fighting is:
Positioning
The Follow up on attacks
Defense
Predicting the flow of the battle
Avoiding AOE damage
