Introduction Top
Hey, I'm steamy from the EU server and this is a short, sweet guide on carrying with Koshka in solo Q.
She's a bursty assassin, meaning you don't initiate. You wait for the right time to pounce in, then delete a carry, and get out again.
The Build Top
Broken Myth;
This does a lot of damage. Additionally, you get stronger as the fight goes on, allowing your price to deal the damage earlier.
Alternating Current;
I don't see enough Koshka's build this. A crystal basic attack assassin that utilises attack speed for their cool downs? Hell yes.
Aftershock;
Koshka has low cool downs, making this a good item on her. Also relying on basic attacks for damage boosts the importance of this item.
Frostburn;
Nooooo! He got away! Noooo! I don't have enough damage! Now you do. The slow and 100 CP boost is great for a relatively cheap item.
Shiversteel;
Slow 'em some more! You can't get away from ANY melee hero with this.
Reflex Block;
Koshka sucks when she gets focused, so if you find you are, get this instead of shiversteel and upgrade it into an item you feel is necessary, or don't at all.
Fountain of Renewal;
Another solid chase item. Chases can be turned around so easily (a good Loshka knows this well), so fountain prevents this.
WHAT??? No shatterglass? Honestly, shatterglass isn't that good. Don't rush it, please. It gives a lot of power but earlier it's about utility, later is about power. If they have a tanker team then go ahead and buy one, but don't get it too early.
Additionally, you don't NEED to get any defence items. But I strongly advise getting at most one, even if it's not mentioned here. Need an atlas? Buy one. Need shield? Get a light shield. Do not however upgrade tier 1 defense until ATLEAST the 15 minute mark, you need damage.
Early game Top
ONLY BUY ONE POTION AT SPAWN. Why?
If you buy one
Halcyon Potion instead of two at the beginning, you spare yourself 25G at the start. Due to this, if you rotate the jungle correctly, you'll have 600G by the time you reach shop, allowing for the purchase of two crystal bits instead of one.
Be aggressive early, but not too aggressive. Try to steal their camps nearest shop as often as possible, but if you get caught, try to fight them out. If their later goes missing then just retreat, and it'll be an unfair 2v3.
If they have a slow rotation of the jungle (Krul, Catherine, Glaive) then try to take Gold Mine behind the enemy's back. Later on we'll talk about JR (jungle rotation) and why it's so important to have a fast one.
Mid game Top
Right now, you're a monster. Having almost completed that
Broken Myth make sure to gank as often as possible, keep in mind that lane minions will make you fast af when banking, if you
Twirly Death them.
Be scared of:
Rona: oh boy. She's terrifying right now and she's tanky, just pray your later isn't stupid enough to get close to her.
Glaive: also very powerful mid game, try not to initiate.
Don't enter a fight without stacks of Twirly Death, this is a massive no and you'll probably lose. If you have to, go twirl in the lane or at a jungle camp (don't finish it off) if you feel a fight coming on.
Later On Top
Here's
Koshka's weakness, she falls off later. To be honest, it's not by a lot but you'll feel enemy carries outdoing you later on.
But no need to be afraid. Stack that BM and the Laner will still not out damage you, but be aware you'll need to escape better.
The Playstyle Top
DO NOT INITIATE X 60000 = WIN.
Honestly, it's that simple. Wait for their cool downs to go off (e.g
Catherine's Merciless Pursuit), then jump in. Constantly check the scoreboard. Be aware of who has reflex blocks, who has fountains, and who can CC you.
Don't focus the tank. Just, don't. They're there to consume YOUR cool downs, although it's not detrimental to Koshka to dish out some poke (low cool downs) you still shouldn't, you're wasting precious stacks.
Your prods will deal the damage earlier in the fight. Although, don't underestimate a non-stacked
Broken Myth. When you complete it, your Twirly Death will probably deal in the vicinity of 280+ damage without stacks.
Go over walls. Koshka is so fun to play, you can go over walls and kill people and stun them and twirl, and that's the whole point of her. If a squishy carry gets in range of your PF if you're on the other end of a wall, then go for it.
ALWAYS HAVE FLARES! If a jungle camp is up, you'll be able to fly over it with
Pouncy Fun and make an escape, or surprise an enemy.
General Tips Top
Clear camps as fast as possible. If you have a fast rotarion (which you do) you will be able to:
Gank without fear of the enemy team, as they'll be farming.
Shop faster = invade faster.
Get more gold.
Steal camps from the enemy without fear of a fight.
Have a small chance of having a jungle monster attacking an enemy jungler when you initiate a fight with them.
Just twirl everywhere. Make sure to always have stacks of Twirly Death, and remember to hit n run, because that's what you do best. Don't be scared if the enemy over-agress early on, it's their mistake, so feel free to fight. Additionally, turning a fight around is very easy, as you have so much power a squishy carry will go 100% to 0% health in about three seconds. Here's my preferred combo:
Basic Attack >
Pouncy Fun > basic attack >
Twirly Death > basic attack > and so forth.
The reason this combo is so strong, is because the basic attack in between
Pouncy Fun and
Twirly Death gives you JUST enough time to do
Pouncy Fun again, if they try to flee.
With this build you'll be doing around 450+ damage a pounce to a carry, 300 a Twirly Death and 300 damage on your stacked basics, before
Alternating Current and
Aftershock come into play.
Also, don't forget that you NEED TO GET TO 6 FAST. At six, immediately gank then secure Gold Mine. Please don't forget that the most damage on your ultimate is the last slash, and it won't do too much since it's not overdriven.
Thanks! Top
Thanks for reading and I hope to see this build in future battles. Feel free to add me, I'm on the EU server and I also do a mean
Skye and
Adagio.
Lastly, if you feel like it, check out my idea for Vama, Vainglory's first melee mage.
