Does the Crystal Power Boosted Attack from Alternating Current Count as Ability or Basic Attack Damage?

So basically i was wondering if the attacks from alternating current are defended by buying shield or armor because i could see how it counts as a basic attack(armor) or a ability attack because of the cp boost from it(shield). Does anyone know for sure????

AC dmg is counted under crystal, aka ability damage. This is why CP Vox still does damage, and how AC can activate Frostburn slows
