Adagio

Items : Crucible to block the ultimate stun

Characters
- Catherine can use her stun to easily stop Adagio's ult during the time it is channeling
- Anybody else with a reliable stun, although Catherine is the most notable

Alpha

Items : Sorrowblade, Shatterglass, Tension Bow, and Aftershock are all great counters as they do alot of damage and are very bursty when she is recharging

Characters
- Taka, Blackfeather, Koshka, Ringo, and Glaive do alot of damage in a short time so when she is recharging you can easily kill her
- Reim can land his Winter Spires on her without much trouble when she is recharging and if she uses Prime Directive on you she will be right behind you so you can land your Chill Winds + Valkyrie

Ardan

Items : Crucible to escape his Gauntlet and Aftershock because Ardan's will build lots of health to increase the health barrier on Vanguard

Characters
- Phinn can stun (if timed well) the Gauntlet or can walk out and not be stunned, and then Forced Accord Ardan out, therefore canceling Gauntlet
- Catherine can easily stun his Gauntlet before it lands

Baron

Items : Boots help close the gap and increase your passive movement speed to dodge his Porcupine Mortar

Characters
- Taka, Blackfeather, Koshka are all quick characters who can jump on him and burst him down
- Vox can use his dash to avoid the missiles and take him out
- Kestrel can use Active Camo to sneak up on him, then burst him down with arrow. Usually the Baron will try to escape but if he is CP then you can kill him before he flies away because of the long charge up time, and if he is WP he doesn't travel as far

Blackfeather

Items : Slumbering Husk to avoid getting bursted down

Characters
- Skye is really the only good counter for BF because she can use her mobility to avoid his On Point

Catherine

Items : Crucible to block her Tremor Blast

Characters
- Phinn cannot be stunned
- Gwen to ignore her Stun/Silence with Skedaddle
-Sustain characters who don't deal burst damage so they don't kill themselves on her bubble

Celeste

Items : Boots allow you to get in on her, so she loses her one big advantage, her range

Characters
- Lance can impale her and she is dead because she has no mobility
- Taka because he can gank her as long as she doesn't have a Heliogenesis on the bushes
- Skye can avoid the stars and get in on her

Flicker

Items : Contraption and Flare Gun allow you to see where Flicker is, ruining his main strength

Characters
- Blackfeather can use Rose Offensive and negate the slow of Fairy Dust
- Gwen can use Skedaddle to escape Fairy Dust
- Lance can use Gythian Wall] to knock [[Flicker away
- Fortress can use his ultimate to find where he is, but this is situational and not a real counter

Fortress has never given me any trouble in a game when he is in jungle or playing as roam, so I don't have any real counters for him.

Items : NA

Characters
- Lance can use Gythian Wall to knock away Fortress if he is running in

Glaive

Items : Atlas Pauldron to slow down the attack speed

One big thing when playing against Glaive is positioning. The best way to counter Glaive is by anticipating that at any second he is going to Afterburn you. Something that I've noticed is that Glaives really like to gank you.

Characters
- Catherine is a good character to have against a Glaive because you can stun him with Merciless Pursuit before he stuns an ally with Afterburn
- Lance can again knock away Glaive during his Afterburn if you can predict it correctly

Gwen

Items : Shiversteel gives slowness to all of your attacks for 4 seconds (6 if melee)

Characters
- Krul is a surprising counter for Gwen, however if you use Shadows Empower Me to apply a slow to Gwen, you can then, if she uses Skedaddle, which she probably will, use Dead Mans Rush to catch up to her and then use Shiversteel not to mention that Shiversteel gives 500 extra health which Krul needs, and it's cheap so he can get more attack speed items
Lance can Impale then roll behind and Gythian Wall and the odds are she used Skedaddle on the impale so she will be hit by Gythian Wall

Idris

Items : Boots to avoid his Chakram

Characters
- Skye can use her mobility to avoid his Chakram which is his main source of damage
- Taka can just burst him down as he is fairly fragile
- Phinn if he can catch him off with Forced Accord it will take away the health barrier, and although he will roll/teleport away, you can still follow up and he is out of position

Joule

Items : Reflex Block to block her Rocket Jump

Characters
- Lance can easily just Gythian Wall her away when she uses Rocket Jump as it's very predictable and shows a circle where it's going to land
- Taka and Kestrel can use their invisibility to sneak up behind her and attack her where she doesn't get the increased armor
- Skye can easily dance around all of her attacks slowly damaging her, just don't be too predictable with your movements and you should be good

Kestrel

Items : Contraption and Flare Gun to see where she is when she's invisible

Characters

- Blackfeather, Taka, and Koshka are all very sticky characters and can prevent her from turning invisible
- Catherine can use her bubble and will reflect most of the damage she recieves

Koshka

Items : Reflex Block to block her ultimate and Shiversteel to reduce her mobility

Characters
- Phinn cannot be stunned by her ultimate and can use Polite Company to deal damage. Quibble usually won't hit as she is so fast but you can Forced Accord if she retreats.
Catherine is a great counter because Koshka is so squishy if she gets stunned, your team can easily burst her down. As Koshka is a CP assassin, when you silence her she can't use her abilities and takes her out of the fight

Krul

Items : Atlas Pauldron is literally all you have to do to beat Krul

Characters
- Skye can dance around him without being touched. Just watch out for his ultimate and Dead Mans Rush
- Lance can knock Krul away with Gythian Wall so he can't get his stacks up
- Reim can be a counter for Krul if you engage in close combat, and then just spam Winter Spire and use Valkyrie on him. You will gain fortified health as well as dealing more damage than he can do to you and heal.
-Literally anybody who can kill a fairly squishy person in the few seconds he is attack speed slowed


Lance

Items : Reflex Block to stop his root and stun

Characters
- Reim He use his Winter Spire to hit behind Lance's directional shield
- Blackfeather can stick to him and keep dodging all of his attacks while dealing massive damage
- Glaive is somewhat tanky and take take a few hits and is just generally better at fighting than Lance

Lyra

Items : NA

Characters

Celeste can simply do more damage at a range than Lyra can.
Skaarf is the same as Celeste. Although Spitfire is slower, that gives Lyra the chance to attack you with her second mana bolt, but she will take the damage from spitfire as she can't move. Basically you just want to poke her out
Koshka can use all of her abilities inside of Bright Bulwark making it fairly useless, and if you can land Yummy Catnip Frenzy she is basically screwed
WP Taka is a good counter if you can land your X-Retsu Because it's extremly fast, unless Lyra can predict your X-Retsu, she can't put down Bright Bulwark fast enough to counter it. Once you are right next to her, you can just basic attack her to victory.


Ozo
Everybody’s favorite monkey

Items : Reflex Block his ultimate

Characters
- Catherine is probably the best counter for Ozo. She can surprisingly interrupt his ultimate with a stun, and if stuns him, Ozo is somewhat fragile as he relies on his mobility and healing for sustain, as well as his fortified health. Ozo needs his ability to sustain himself, so if he gets silenced by her ultimate, he’s one dead monkey
- Lance is another fabulous counter for Ozo because he can also knock away Ozo on his Acrobounce and his Bangarang, and if Ozo gets rooted it’s this canary’s last song. (That was a good joke wasn't it)

Petal

Items : NA

Characters
- Phinn can Quibble her munions and kill them, or if that doesn't kill them, then follow up with Polite Company to finish them off, leaving Petal vulnerable. Petal is also very squishy so if you just Forced Accord your teammates can finish her off assuming she doesn't Trampoline! away.
- Lance can just Gythian Wall her muninons away when she uses Spontaneous Combustion
- Ardan can use Gauntlet which traps her in, unless she has a Reflex Block or Aegis
- Catherine can use Merciless Pursuit to stun her and she's very exposed to your team, and as I said earlier, she is very squishy.

Phinn

Items : Reflex Block his Forced Accord and use boots to counter Phinn because he's so damn slow lol

Characters
- Skye can counter Phinn because she's so quick he just can't hit her. The only thing you need to watch out for is Forced Accord
- Blackfeather is great because you can use Rose Offensive to avoid his Quibble and Forced Accord
- Idris is also very agile using his teleport and can use his ultimate to avoid more attacks

Reim

Items : Reflex Block his Valkyrie

Characters
- Idris, Blackfeather, Taka, Skye, and Koshka are all very quick, agile characters who can easily avoid his winter spire
Skarf, Celeste, and Kestrel are some of the best for poking him down

Ringo

Items : Atlas Pauldron to attack speed slow him

Characters
- Taka is the best counter to Ringo in the fact he can sneak up on and burst him down as Ringo is extremely squishy.
- Kestrel for the same reason as Taka but doesn't have as strong burst and Ringo is fairly agile and can dodge your skillshots
- Phinn can land his Forced Accord and basically screw Ringo over
- SAW can just dominate Ringo early on as Saw has the best early game in lane and Ringo is one of the weakest early on, and if you do this Ringo just won't have enough gold to become important late game

Rona

Items : NA

Characters
- Catherine can use her stun to just interrupt Red Mist which is the only thing that keeps Rona viable
-Literally anybody faster than her when she is using her ult

Samuel

Items : Aegis because it's shield to protect from his attacks and it can block Oblivion which is a devastating ultimate if it lands

Characters
Taka can X-Retsu ambush Samuel and if he is using Malice & Verdict it will go to the same spot and you will end up behind him so it will miss. If he turns around and uses it again you can just flip over him and keep attacking
Glaive just needs to Afterburn and take him out of his Drifting Dark
Phinn just needs to Forced Accord him out of his Drifting Dark


SAW
If you can hold strong during his early game, you should beat him late game

Items : Atlas Pauldron screws him over

Heroes
- Catherine can stun him then use Atlas and cut through him like a saw... get it...
- Phinn can Forced Accord --> Polite Company --> Quibble and it will be the last thing that he ever... Saw...
- Samuel can stay at a range in his Drifting Dark and repeatedly land Malice & Verdict shots with the extra range.

Skaarf

Items : Boots for avoiding ult

Characters
Phinn, Lance, and Catherine can all cancel his ult
Taka, Blackfeather, Koshka, and Glaive can all gank him easily as he has no escape
Skye can just dodge his skill shots

Skye

Items : Shiversteel to reduce her mobility and boots to increase yours to match hers

Characters
Lance, if he lands his Impale results in a dead Skye as she is so squishy and if she loses her mobility is just screwed
Phinn like Lance, if he lands a Quibble or Forced Accord she is dead
Catherine can land her Blast Tremor and unless its a WP, which isn't as strong as CP IMO anymore, she's dead. But even if it's a WP, she can still Merciless Pursuit and mercilessly pursue her and stun her. Great English language skills on display right now.
Ardan is probably the best counter for Skye because he can use Gauntlet to trap her in and restrict her movement, he can close distance with Blood for Blood, use Vanguard somebody to boost them to her so they can land some heavy damage, and he doesn't take very much damage as Ardan heals missing health each time he is hit, and he gets hit alot from Forward Barrage

Taka

Items : Contraption and Flare Gun to see where that pesky fox in a box is hiding (Thanks mah boy ciderhelm)

Characters
- Petal is arguably the best counter for Taka in the sense that even when he uses his Kaku they can still find him using their sense of... smell? Even though they don't have noses? Either way, you can just not tap anywhere else on your screen and they will chase after him. Takas everywhere cry when a Petal is counter-picked against them.
- Catherine is probably the best counter for CP Taka, and the 2nd best aginst WP. No matter what happens that game or any other, my favorite thing in Vainglory is playing as Catherine against a CP taka, or WP works too, but it's better against a CP, use bubble, and they X-Retsu and kill themselves. Nothing better. Not only is that a counter, but her stun basically screws that sly little fox.
- Phinn can use Polite Company to find out where Taka is if he turned invisible and your vision is on cooldown. Notice how I said on cooldown because when playing against a Taka you should never not have vision, or as normal people would say, always have vision.

Vox

Items : Reflex Block

Characters
- Phinn if he gets Forced Accord screws Vox as his Sonic Zoom doesn't move him very far.
- Glaive can Afterburn him for ganks and easily take him out
- Blackfeather and Koshka can assassinate him fairly easily, especially early on as he is one of the weakest early game. One thing to note is that Taka isn't as effective as the others because Pulse can show the little Resonance thing around his head. (Fun fact, I always pronounced 'Resonance' 'Renaissance')

As the great legend Cheese Ausar said "Just from the first pick alone, you can predict what the enemy is going to draft. Let's say they ban Joule and pick Adagio. Who do you think they're going to pick? SAW, of course. Just by hero synergy, you can attempt to ruin their intended team comp. Such knowledge usually comes with experience, so playing more will help you in situations like these."
Prediction is key. If you see something like that happening, stop it! Pick Saw before they do!

If you see them ban Petal, ban Taka if they pick first!
