1
Glaive MAKE ME PROUD!
2
Petal Squishy, You could burst her easily if she don't have any defensive items.
2
Phinn Try not to get hit by his A, because its gonna do alot of damage in any stage of the game and once overdrive will cause a stun. He is very slow though, a Warhorn can easily pass him very quickly and just dive for their squishies/carries.
2
Ardan Imo the best escaper in the game, he has A which grants a huge MS buff to his ally and just run away, has an engange and disengange which is his ult. Doesn't do alot of damage if roam but WP, he deals insanely amount of damage. If he's WP buy defenses early before going into damage items
3
Lance Try to dodge his A, if he does, he has a huge delay before moving again, try not to fight him because he's not really a threat if he's roam.
3
Adagio He could deny your burst cuz of his heal, just save your A until he ults so you can escape in time (only if you're affected w/ arcanefire)
4
Rona She has good dueling potential, and tanky if she ults, try to fight her with you're roam and focus her down when she isn't ulting yet.
5
Skaarf Try to dodge her A, and just save you're A when she ulties because stunning her would be huge in a team fight
5
Ozo CP he could be a threat but Ozo is pretty weak right now WP
5
Ringo Always have your team at your back, its hard to 1v1 a ringo because of he's B and damage but he is very squishy.
6
Alpha Try not to duel with her if she is WP and ahead, Use the 2nd part of you're A when she ulties and try to dodge her A
6
Kestrel Try to avoid her A and B, her B does insane damage when she is CP.
7
Krul Just shut him down early game by invading and taking his camps. Finish the game ASAP. Even if he is behind, late game he will still be a monster. Build Atlas also to shut down his Attack Speed.
7
Joule CP she is a monster, try to avoid her ult and when WP, try not to get hit by her B, She is strong at all stages.
8
SAW Try not to fight him when he has full stacks on his passive, Stun him when he uses his B and try to focus him if fed.
9
Catherine A smart Catherine player would overdrive B, which makes her near invincible, try not to fight her lvl 8 above and has her B up because she can out damage you even when she is roam. Wait for her B to expire then kill her (if she overdrives B)

About Me Top

Hi guys, my name is MoonShake and I'll be writing you a guide about Glaive. My IGN is MoonShakeVG and I play at the SEA servers. I started playing Vainglory when Taka was first released but then I decided to take a break because the game was new and a lot of bugs and glitches were happening. I started playing again near the start of winter season and a lot has changed. Currently i am a Credible Threat (6) Bronze but I'll keep ranking up.I chose Glaive as my main because I felt like we have a connection. I'll keep this guide updated each patch that will be released. I hope you guys liked it I spent a lot of time doing this guide.

Introduction Top

Glaive is one the best, or not THE best early game jungler in the game right now because of his kit that provides him the damage for the early game. He excels in the early game and can kill a lot of squishies such as Ringo , Vox , and Celeste really quickly if you play him properly. His kit also allows him to snowball and carry a game by himself. What I really do with Glaive is to invade as much and he can punish players who make bad decisions/calls.

Abilities Top

Hunt The Weak
This is a simple passive, which just cleaves in front of him and gives you a bit more range when he critically strike which means more range when you auto attack hits and it is good for clearing as well.
AfterBurn
This is why Glaive shines in the early to mid game. He can use it to almost everything such as peeling, escaping, ganking, diving, etc. This can get you a lead really quickly and snowball the game. Be careful though it uses a lot of energy so use it when you know the enemy is gonna expend a lot of abilities and items to either save them or to trade with us, use it if you know you're gonna get a kill, or use it to escape or peel for you're lane/sniper.
Twisted Stroke
This is where glaive gets his damage early game, allowing you to critically strike early game when our enemies haven't build armor or has little armor. This also gives you critical chance which can help you in duelling or in small skirmishes.
Bloodsong
His ultimate basically gives you life steal and gives you damage for your burst especially when it is fully stacked. It also has a low cooldown which makes it less punishable for you when you use it.

What to Overdrive Top

On what to overdrive first, I tested both Afterburn and Twisted Stroke and it seems like that Afterburn is the way to go because it lowers the cooldown every time you levelled it up which means more peeling, escaping, diving, etc. then what to max second is kinda you're choice. I max my Twisted Stroke because it gives you more damage and critical chance. You can max Bloodsong 2nd as well if you want more damage.

Build and My Build Preference Top

So there are 2 builds I'll like to discuss in lane and jungle and 1 build in Roam

So the 1st build I'll like to discuss in lane/jungle is the SorrowBlade Bonesaw build.
The build consists of Sorrowblade, Bonesaw, Fountain of Renewal or Aegis, Metal Jacket, and Travel Boots.

This build in particular is very popular right now because it gives you a lot of damage while being tanky enough to peel and survive. This is what I'm currently building right now.

The 2nd Build is a much more tankier version than the 1st one and a lot of pro players are building it and CullTheMeek, A TSM player made a guide about this.
It consists of Tension Bow, Fountain of Renewal, Metal Jacket, Bonesaw, and Travel Boots

This build is more of a tanky approach, since you're only damage item is the tension bow in the early game, you can also sneak in a bonesaw if you're team is in the lead. Only choose this build if you can depend or trust you're laner to deal most of the damage, which probably is you're friend. When playing alone, I'll go for the Sorrowblade Bonesaw build, but if you're with friends or in a team/guild, I'll go for this build instead.

Roam Glaive Build
This build is the standard build for roams, warhorn or Contraption, Fountain of Renewal, Crucible, atlast pouldron and Travel Boots or Sprint Boots or none.

This is the normal roam build which any roam can play.

Early,Mid, and Late Game to all roles Top

Lane Glaive
Buy Book of Eulogies and just farm out waves. Always buy potions when you buy because it can save you a ton. Always ask for a gank because it is easy ganking lane glaive. Always respond if the your jungler and roamer are fighting with their jungler and roamer unless if the laner is SAW. SAW can just punish you if you just leave lane for just a second.

If their laner doesn't respond to the fight, they will most likely push, but since this is early game, nobody can destroy the turret that fast, well except for SAW. Be careful though, even though nobody can destroy a turret that fast in the early game, they will still do a lot damage to the turret, which makes you defend the turret instead of respond to your jungler and roamer later. Plus decide if you want to respond to them, If you think they can handle a 2v2, then just last hit in lane, but if the enemy team's laner goes to respond to the battle, you can have 2 choices, either push the lane but lose the skirmish/battle or respond and hope to win the skirmish.

Jungle Glaive
Try to invade as much if you are still going even or ahead, if behind you should farm up and wait for the enemy team to make a mistake. Always be in sync with your roamer, use pings to tell them where your'e gonna go, a lot of players in the low rankings/elo just go without even telling their team what he is doing and ends up dying and just used the ? ping for rudeness.

Roam Glaive
Just follow your jungler and try to snowball by ganking. Rush Fountain of Renewal because it cuz save alot of your teamates while battling.

Lane Glaive
You probably have some items now and you guys are team fighting more, try to dive their carries and use your 2nd part of your A (the knock back stun part) to push them into your team. Most of their carries dont have that much armor yet, which means you can burst them down but be careful, your'e squishy as well.

Jungle Glaive
Same as Lane Glaive, additional info, try to zone the other carries so that your laner can freely hit whoever he is targeting.

Roam Glaive
Just try to push their carries in to your team and try to zone out the other one, pretty much like the last two, but you can zone more because you are more tanky than Lane and Jungle Glaive.

Summarized Version

Your damage has fallen of late game, because your enemies have completed their defensive items and have infusions, and they'll be much more safer knowing that you are a good (hopefully) or fed Glaive player.
The only thing I do here is to just zone them out until my teamates hopefully kills someone on their team, also try to peel if your laner got caught and try to dive and push back their laner or jungler into the team.
Just be careful though, you might be diving recklessly and a good team will focus you. Death timers are long so you better decide if going in is a good or bad idea.

Jungle Glaive Synergies Top

Roam Synergies

Catherine - Catherine I think has the best synergy with Glaive imo because she has good mobility and has a stun which gives you a free hit or two in the early game.

Ardan - Ardan has a good synergy with Glaive because of his kit. He provides you great mobility so that you can land you're 2nd A easier.

Phinn - Has good damage when he lands his A but he has terrible mobility which can affect you when invading. Every one of his spells have CC which is nice, again gives you time to damage the enemy.

Adagio - No hard CC till lvl 6 and probably the worst roam you can team up with, he will build CP so you guys will be squishy at first plus you are most likely the only melee hero in the team which means you can be their main target.

Lance - Lance has amazing CC. he can guarantee you a kill early game and like the 2nd tankiest roam next to Catherine.

Fortress - No CC but has the best mobility he could offer to a team mate.

Roam Glaive Synergies Top

Jungle Synergies

Rona - Rona has a good early game and probably one of the best synergies with a Glaive Roam

Taka - He is weak until he gets Tension Bow and lvl 6, this loses glaive's early game potential.

Ozo - imo he needs a buff tbh, CP he is good enough to play with and a good early to mid game hero.

Krul - Farm up till late game, that is where Krull shines, just peel for your team until then.

Skye - has good damage early because of her A and B, You guys can invade early because the enemy team can't handle the damage you both do early game.
