Crystal Power Build & Playstyle Top

Start with an Oakheart to begin Stormcrown path as well as to resist longer in Jungle farming, one Halcyon Potion in case you get too low for a level 1 fight and one Flare in case you think you might get jumped early or are facing another Taka.

Earn 550 gold and purchase Stormguard Banner and if you have more gold, get a Crystal Bit or an Eclipse Prism if you have enough. At this point you should be doing enough damage to kill someone in a team fight. If you know how to play Taka then you should already know how to select your targets.

At this point you can farm twice as fast thanks to Stormguard Banner as well as go up to Lane and gank/assist your Carry and Roam in a team fight. Use the map to hover over your carry to see what's going on before deciding whether to go or not.

From here you have to continue building according to the match's progress.

Rule number one. A player that thinks he's good will sneak to an enemy with Kaku. A Pro player will not only use Kaku to escape, but he will use it to fake an escape.

Your first priority is to build Aftershock and Journey Boots, so begin purchasing the Tier 1 items or Tier 2 if you have enough gold. Why Journey Boots? Because they are the cheapest boots with the highest speed boost and the cooldown is reduced to 12 seconds whenever you hit an enemy player. So you are moving from location to location, faster than anyone else.

Next you have to analyze what's going on in the match and how your team and your opponents are building. If they for some reason have prioritized attack over defense or decided to focus you instead of your WP Carry, then punish them by starting to build Shatterglass and overwhelm them with your abilities. If the enemy team is focusing you too much, go for defense and start building Aegis. Reflex Block is always useful, but if you are relying on blocking incoming enemy attacks to survive too early in the game, you are doing something wrong as Taka. Even if they are hunting you down specifically, an OP Taka is overpowered not because of his stats, but because he is very smart and knows how to trick the enemy regardless of the bullseye on him.

The last Core item is up to you. Note that at this point you can sell your Stormcrown if you want extra gold. Taka is not about attacking many times as fast as he can, out in the open and thinking he's awesome because he's gaining stacks... where he can get focused and cornered to death. He is about making sure that when he steps out of the shadow, he only does it to delete the target and disappearing again, causing the enemy to panic and make mistakes.

Notice how this build also does not focus on energy. I have seen so many players fail miserably while trying to play as Taka.. Because they have no energy when a fight is about to start, because they don't know how to position themselves correctly, or because they think that instalocking him with Tier 1 skin makes them cool. This is why it is very important that your teammates are good and know what they are doing, as they are attracting the focus of the enemy without dying, leaving you with a great window of opportunity to do your thing which is killing.

The correct way to attack someone is to hide and position yourself correctly, after you have chosen your target, and wait for the right time to attack him. You do not X-Retsu into an enemy without Mortal Strike stacks. You do not Kaku and get behind your target. You do not waste energy.

You wait for your target to come close enough and you run up to him at full speed if you have boots and land the first basic attack. A smart Taka always has an Aftershock procc ready for this very reason, and after landing the first hit, you wait for your target to make a mistake and use an ability on you, for you to dodge with Kaiten granting you one more Aftershock procc.

At this point your target will do one of two things: a) Try to kill you if he's the brave type or b) Run.

Luckily, this is why we have X-Retsu ready and not on cooldown. If the target is low enough in health that a passive DoT (Damage Over Time) bleeding effect off of X-Retsu would eventually kill him, or the full damage of X-Retsu, then do it. Take the risk even if it means you will get shot once by a Turret, but don't die as it is not acceptable.

Bonus Tip: If you have your Mortal Strike perks stacked, you can begin a fight with X-Retsu, although this requires you to stack on Jungle Monsters or Minions (no element of surprise) to then rush to the pre-fight and hope that your stacks don't go away.

The only time it is acceptable to sacrifice yourself to get the kill, is when the 1 for 1 trade off will benefit your team 2v2 scenario. If you cannot compromise, then retreat back into the shadows and wait for the next time you meet. Regardless, he will eventually taste your blade.

That's all for this guide, have fun playing and be the best ninja you can be.
