Adagio You could probably kill him before he does much but his heals/buffs/fire is really annoying. Watch out for that and reflex his ult.
3
Phinn Annoying, sure, but he will never be able to get near you cuz he's so slow. Don't focus him and reflex his ult if you can.
3
Koshka Got a buff. More like an assassin now. Reflex her ult and you can shank her to safety. She is still pretty squishy if you poke from a distance.
4
SAW WP saw? poke him to death from a distance (typically when he's not stacked). never go 1v1 when he's stacked and he's very weak late game. Cp saws typically overdrive a and think that it can carry them. Just poke from a distance and let him overextend(bait him out!) When they copy/chase you, ult and shank to kill him.
4
Lyra CP can do some damage but isn't as aggressive now. Poke her from a distance when it's safe/when she tries to poke you. You will get most of her health down and if she tries to teleport in your face and uses her bulwark, just shank or ult. Roam Lyra is harder to counter but poking from a distance should be fine as long as you don't make any bad mistakes like trying to poke her then getting bursted down by her allies. Have your allies focus her if her heals are the only thing that keeps her allies alive. NOTE: Typically not dangerous 1v1 but she is great at supporting her allies.
4
Petal THE POTATO IS BACK!! SHe's pretty powerful in the right hands but if you can get rid of her munions early game, you allies should be able to finish her off. Don't forget to help you allies invade/defend the jungle because she will be super powerful late game if you let her feed off of your allies. ALthough she doesn't do much burst damage, you should typically focus her because if your allies die, it's super hard to flee with that munion/frostburn combo
4
Fortress You can attack so fast it's like his wolves were never there. He's also weak AF and he's just an initiator but his bleed hurts tho just make sure to shank him and run away when he uses his A on you. If his allies chase you, your allies should attack them and protect you. If they don't continue to chase, then it is safe to attack but still be careful, if they do, then just continue running and your allies will get free damage on them. Don't focus him and make sure he doesn't kill you
4
Lance Sure, his root and stun are annoying, but you can typically avoid them by not being fully spun up but it's ok to continue farming as long as you don't over extend and have your A ready at all times. Let your allies engage first so he roots them and allows you do be safe from his allies. Don't focus him unless he is going wp carry. He shouldn't pose much of a threat as long as you have good allies
4
Flicker Team stealth is super annoying, so that's why your roamer will need to get contraption ASAP and place mines everywhere. Try not to spend too much money of scout traps if possible and play it safe. Don't let him get too close to you because his slow/root is super annoying. Stay behind your allies and let them engage first.
4
Grumpjaw Can swallow you and keep from helping your allies or put you in the middle of the team fight. Roam must get War Treads to soft counter his ult. Best allies are those who can disrupt him. Catherine is a must when playing against him in ranked although Arrange is decent too.
5
Blackfeather Not really meta now ( :( CP BF is one of my favorites) but can be annoying. ult him to get rid of him. Shank him when he tries to run with his ult. Good Cp will poke you. If he tries to, poke him back if you're safe.
5
Ozo You can easily reflex his ult cause you will see it from a mile away. Highly manverable but your ult will deestroy him if he tries to jump on you
5
Joule WP can be deadly. Just run away with your A or reflex her jump cuz it takes forever to get to you. Reflex her jump if she's the carry of if there's nothing better to reflex. Use your A and reflex if needed if she ults you cna she's going CP.
5
Samuel He is dangerous when he's in his Drifting Dark. Luckily, you can get him out of it with your B and the help of your allies. Make sure to target him whenever possible.
5
Grace She negates so much damage and it's really difficult to avoid her stun. She can also just heal them back up and it's extremely difficult to play against her(she is too op rn). My advice is to just poke/kite and whittle them down and ult when necessary. Remember it's always fine to retreat but you may have to rely on your jungler to do most of the damage and just be the bait in order to win(means less kills probably)
6
Celeste Poke is annoying but you have to go offensive. Poke her to death and she can't get near you until she's lvl 8 but she will still get caught in your B. Buy defense and remember to stick with your allies even though she's kinda potato now(not many good Celestes since they have to play very smart now). Just distract for your jungler to kill/carry unless they focus him in which case just do the opposite.
6
Glaive Reflex block his stun and run. If you don't have the reflexes, then don't over extend and trap both bushes. Not deadly if you are surrounded by good allies, just shank him to quickly get back to your allies and use your B once you're safe. Invade the jungle as much as possible if you can to deprive him of gold to make him even less of a threat late game.
6
Krul If your team focuses him, he should be no problem. Still, help your allies invade jungle and ult + shank him for lots of damage. Poke from afar. Helps if you have communication with your allies.
6
Kestrel Roamer should get contrap is she's going CP, burst down with ult and poke from a distance. Don't go in her mist, that's like the worst thing you could ever do and don't facecheck cuz cp kestrel will definitely have mist and kill you with it. Cath and is good counter.
6
Reim He has so much fortified health it makes him super hard to kill, don't go near his spires and make sure your allies don't either. You probably should focus the laner but you still have to watch out for him. Stick with your allies during late game, don't face check bushes cause he will root you and kill you. Reflex his ult and ult him to death a distance. It's probaly best to burst him down before he gets any fortified health but that depends on his team comp.
6
Rona Can leap in your face and do a ton of damage. Shank her to get away and poke poke her from a distance. Ult when she starts spinning if you're safe. Remember, she's slow when she ults. Don't face check bushes or she will leap right into your face
6
Gwen CP is dangerous because she can poke you from a distance. WP can't burst you down fast enough. Burst her down if she's focusing you or going cp. Otherwise try bursting down the jungler first unless they are tanky (alpha, krul etc)
6
Churnwalker He'll pull you and make you take damage even when you're really far away. Try not to let him hook you but be decisive about your actions. His ult is an easy block, just your your common sense when fighting this guy and you should be fine as long as your allies can keep you alive
7
Alpha Don't get close to her when she's using her ult. If she catches you with her A/B, you can shank her and roll away but only ifyou aren't going to get rid of all her reserve health bc then she will explode in your face. It is possible to burst her down quick enough so she can't use it tho. Kill her easily with ult and poke from a distance. If she uses her A in a teamfight, use your ult and burst her down
7
Vox If your allies are close together, you guys will get rekt. Poke him a lot in lane, be aggressive when you can so he can't get farm and poke you with his resonance bounces. Scout bushes so you don't get ganked and don't overextend. Don't let him get any farm when you can and have your whole team focus him in teamfights and burst him down.
7
Idris Can keep his distance and is very mobile. Luckily, he's pretty squishy so you can burst him down with your ult. Never go anywhere alone mid to late game and hopefully your captain places mines everywhere so you don't get ambushed.
7
Reza Will avoid your skill shots and get on top of you super quickly. OPAF this meta, don't try to engage 1v1 or stay far away from him.
8
Catherine Most common counter to you but most caths are shit and waste their silence/use it to kill fleeing enemies or something. Stun and silence can be deadly but you should be able to do fine with decent allies. Trap bushes and A away when she tries to stun then poke her to death with suppressing fire unless her bubble is up bc it will reflect a ton of damage to you and your allies. Also, her stun is pretty short so you won't lose all of your stacks unless you haven't attacked for a second(if you don't want to lose your stacks). Cath/Glaive is a common combo and can be very deadly. Reflex Glaive's A and remember to stay behind your allies.
8
Taka Good/CP takas are a threat. trap both bottom lane bushes and make sure your roam has contrap. When you see him use kaku, it means he's about to attack. Run and poke from a distance and don't forget to get allies to gank. TIP: most Taka's will ult you then immediately use their A. You should shank him to get away after he uses his A if you can so you deal some damage and get healed.
8
Skye She does so much damage now :O but you should be fine as long as you play it smart and poke her down. Don't get overaggressive too much and try to get your jungler to gank often is she's laning. Rotate as much as possible(AMAP?) if she's jungling, and make sure your team sticks together in teamfights, as Skye will probably try to lure your jungler away(kiting) and use Dragon's Eye to ace you while you're spun up.
8
Baron You are a sitting duck for his abilities when you're using your B. Try to avoid all of his abilities, espicially when he is going CP. Run away when you hear the extremely loud noise that signals his ult bc it's practically impossible to see it in a team fight. Reflex if you are about to get hit by his ult.
8
Baptiste Can do a lot of damage. His B doesn't do much while you are ulting B and ult combo can be especially deadly though, and can basically one shot you(One Trick Baptiste) if he's empowered and if you're not careful.
8
Lorelai She's tough to beat, especially once she overdrives her stun. Extremely hard to play against. Bursting her down is best option, get vision and don't make foolish mistakes. Luckily her CP CC isn't overwhelming, but roam CC can be deadly.
9
Skaarf Poke to death. You should probably run when he ults. Shield is a must. try to avoid his spitfire or at least make him waste his A and/or his B. When he does, poke him with your B. may be hard to avoid his spitfire when you're stacked. If you are good, you will get way more damage on him than he will on you. Don't be overly aggressive while fighting him, play it smart and try to bait him out. You won't win a 1v1 this meta probably.
10
Varya Chain lightning can hit you from far away and her Ult is deadly when you are spun up or using your B. Be decisive and stick with your team(don't get too close though! she's like a cp vox almost). If you engage, engage hard or retreat as a team cause you won't survive long fights probably. Gank early when she's still weak if possible.

Ardan Can keep enemies trapped in his gauntlet and keep them away from you and can come in with the clutch saves with his Vanguard. Goes well with most heroes, would recommend Ardan or Lance for captain.
2
Lance He can push enemies away and stun them or root them in your B. Very versatile and would suggest having Lance or Ardan as your captain. He doesn't have a barrier to save you last second though so you may not be able to be as aggressive as you'd like though.
3
Lyra Bleh another nerf... Her heals aren't as strong anymore so you can't be super aggressive with her anymore but her B is still pretty good if timed correctly. Stick near her and try to burst down the carry. Never focus the Captain.
4
Fortress His slow from his B and speed boost from his A is great for offensive plays, however he can't save you from death as easily as other heroes because he has no heals/buffs.
4
Flicker Has a slow to keep enemies from getting too close to you or to keep them in your Suppressing Fire and can turn you invisible to escape or for a surprise ambush. Has pretty good synergy but doesn't really have abilities that can keep you alive, like Ardan's Vanguard, or Lyra's heals.
5
Adagio Heals and buffs are great, but Adagio can be difficult to play and not a lot of people are good with him.

SAW

Build: What guide should i do next?

Item Choices

Introduction Top

Hi! Welcome to my guide! I like to make guides about the non-meta heroes/underrated heroes to make people more aware of them. Most people don't realize it, but all heroes can be strong if you use them correctly. This guide will show you how CP SAW can be OP and all the benefits of using it. This is still a WIP so it's not finished yet but I will update it as much as possible. Please leave comments about what I can do to improve it or what I should add to it and please rate it. Thanks!

Extra note: I am currently working to add a bunch of stuff to this guide, such as a ToC and a better layout. Please be patient and it will come soon! Edit: wow um I'm lazy I need to update all of my guides xP. I promise i will work on my guides more and a Kestrel(unless u want like a diff hero. might change to Lorelai) guide will be coming later! Oh and the threat positions are correct, I just need to update the descriptions

So I'm sure you have heard of being poked to death by Celeste or Skaarf before, but have you ever heard of being poked to death by SAW?!? I know, it sounds crazy, but when you look at his Suppressing Fire, you will find that he can deal almost 1000 damage without any CP items so just imagine what it would be like with a bunch of CP. In this guide, you will learn to poke people to death and to carry your team to victory. NOTE: This works in Solo Queue rank and usually works with random teammates. Also, CP SAW is super squishy early game, but is devastating late game. Don't forget to rotate and get your allies to gank the enemy laner.

P.S. The third build is just the heroes that have good synergy with SAW

Changes to SAW Top

[1.23] So SAW's Mad Cannon can no longer nuke the enemy vain crystal but it can still do a lot of damage. Play it safe and fight from a distance in this update. Let your allies protect you and have a tanky jungler like alpha or krul so they can soak up most of the damage.

[2.3] His attack speed per stack got reduced slightly, makes him do less damage but isn't that big of a deal and doesn't even really matter for CP. Makes it slightly harder to stutter-step for some people though.

[2.4] wow slight attack speed buff woo

[2.8] lol Healing Flask sucks, make sure to sell it by 10-15 min

[2.9] lop everyone has more health so you have to be even more careful in the way you play. Would advise a strong jungler(glaive as long as he doesn't punt people away from your skill shots, alpha, and black feather are all good) and a good roam that can protect you well like Lyra, extremely good phinns, and churnwalker sometimes(great against the poke of skaarf and celeste cause he can pull then to you and provide massive opportunities) (BTW CP is extremely hard to play this meta)

[2.11] Less Suppressing Fire damage ;-;

How to play Top

SAW, like all heroes, has unique abilities and can be deadly when used correctly, but first we need to break down his abilities.

Spin Up

Each basic attack increases SAW's attack speed by 25% and armor & shield by 1, but it also decreases his move speed by -0.12 (up to 12 stacks). After 3.5s without basic attacking, SAW will lose 1 stack of Spin Up every 0.2s.

SAW's heroic perk means that he attacks faster with each stack of Spin Up and receives a stack every time he hits someone with an AA. He will also become slower with each stack too, so you won't be very mobile so you'll have to watch out. The stacks also give you a bit of armor/shield, something that most people don't know, and it will be pretty helpful early game and help a bit against ganks.

Roadie Run

SAW sprints & switches to a melee combat knife. If SAW attacks someone, he will deal bonus damage based on the target's missing health & roll backwards. Activating this ability clears all stacks of Spin Up. Crystal will boost the speed, up to a maximum of +3.2.

Roadie Run basically turns him into a melee hero for a short time, gives him move speed, and most importantly, removes all his stacks of spin up. This allows him to quickly get away from teamfights or quickly get into one. You can easily kill someone with about 25% health or less left bc of AS and then you will roll backwards. You can even roll through walls! You can use this trick to get away from chasing enemies by hitting the jungle monsters and then using your A. This seems hard at first, but gets easier after you know the tricks to it. SO in order to roll through a small wall, the creep/enemy hero has to be pretty close to the wall you are trying to go through, run toward the creep/hero from the place you are trying to go through and shank them. Voila! you have successfully traveled through a wall. Just remember that although traveling through walls is cool and is great for escaping, it is really hard to do it on purpose so just don't try to do this all the time, it isn't worth it unless you really need to. NOTE: the destination on the wall roll has to be past the wall in order to go through it so you have to be pretty close to the wall for this to work.
PS you can use this ability when you respawn to get to the lane faster but don't use it when the enemies are near you third turret or inside your base because then you have to wait for it to cooldown and you won't get as much damage off it.

Suppressing Fire

SAW fires a hurricane of bullets in a set direction for 2 seconds, damaging and slowing enemies in its path. Finishing this ability grants all stacks of Spin Up and resets the cooldown of Roadie Run. Deal reduced damage to turrets if out of range.

SAW's B will make him fire in a direction for 2 seconds, but while those 2 seconds, you can't move at all so this will make you vulnerable to attacks/ganks so you want to be careful about where you use it. This ability does a ton of damage, slows them so your allies can catch up to them, gives you all 12 stacks of Spin Up, and resets the cooldown of Roadie Run. Important! You won't get the stacks or the CD reset if you are stunned out of it so you'll wanna watch out for that. In lane, you will want to try and use this to poke the enemy laner and hit the minions at the same time, because during late game, this ability can effectively clear out a giant wave of minions and you will deal ~1000 damage to the enemy laner if they stay in it. (Typically, you will deal ~500-800 damage to the enemy laner)

SAW loads explosive shells into his gun which deal additional damage based on the target's missing health. The shells also deal splash damage based on the amount of crystal power SAW has. This explosive ammo fires 36% slower and grants 2 stacks of Spin Up.

No one can stop you if you use this right. I have aced the enemy team by myself with an afk teammate before because of this ability. (Note that you have to have at allies protecting you or you will be bursted down when you use your Suppressing Fire) You can burst down the laner and the jungler with this and the roamer will not stand a chance. Even though you will attack slower with this, you still shoot faster than normal bc of your passive. This can heal over 500 health back with eve if you use all your abilities. You have to max out this ability because you will get more Mad Cannon stacks and deal more damage with them. Tip: if an enemy is right next to you,(like an Ardan or Blackfeather) shank them, use your Suppressing Fire, and then activate Mad Cannon and they should be dead before you use up all of your stacks(unless it's a Krul. Don't let him get full weakness stacks). If you have any leftover stacks, it's ok to use them on minions cause you should have short CD times but your Suppressing Fire should kill all of them if you really want to save your stacks.

So you read about his abilities and now you have the general gist of how he's supposed to be played. He's supposed to mainly play it safe and poke the enemy team so you can get an advantage in the next teamfight while your allies protect you. You are extremely vulnerable while you are using your Suppressing Fire so you want to be very careful and not be rash with your abilities. CP SAW is a lot harder to play than WP simply because you need to be extremely skilled with your abilities in order to be effective and not just tap an enemy and occasionally tap other buttons/stutter step. You need to know when to use which ability and decide whether or not to engage. You need to have good decision making and that is the difference between a loss and a win (good allies and an Eve of Harvest also help).

Explaining the Items Top

Reflex is an important part of this build, you will typically need a reflex for most battles, if you can't reflex block anything then you're doomed. You can try practicing reflex blocking someone as a roam, cuz you need to heal allies with foutain/block aoe with crucible/atlas enemies. I suggest playing cath cuz she is easiest to play but don't be like a noob cath that wastes silences/stuns everything.

IMPORTANT!! YOU WILL BE SQUISHY AND PRETTY WEAK EARLY GAME UNTIL YOU GET AN EVE AND DEFENSE. YOU WILL RECOVER SO MUCH HEALTH WITH EVE AND BLOCK STUNS WITH REFLEX, THIS ITEM IS A MUST! GET IT AS FIRST-THIRD T3 ITEM AND GET REFLEX EARLY GAME!

Amplifies damage and pierces shield Allows you to actually kill people and do tons of damage. A must for every CP hero.

Lifesteal will save your life since you do so much damage. This item is a must. Heals you when you use abilities so you aren't as squishy. Allows you to make riskier/more aggressive plays

For that extra burst damage with your A. Only if you need extra burst/a bit more heal. Otherwise, I would get Clockwork since it amplifies your damage. Burst/some heal with your A. Great for killing high health roams like Catherine (when her shield's not up) and Ardan

Gives a bunch of CD and amplifies crystal damage. For ability spam and extra damage.

Short reflex block cooldown and shield. Shortest reflex block CD and a ton of shield for those CP heroes like Celeste, Skaarf, and Skye

Sometimes you will need another reflex block/need to protect your allies from AOE like Adagio when your roam is too noob to get one. When there are 2 important things to reflex block, like an Ardan ult and Koshka stun. Also whenever you need more health

Armor to protect yourself from WP heroes. Armor. That's it

Boots, CD, and energy. 3 sec sprint to get away. Don't use to engage unless you are absolutely sure that you will win the teamfight.

This is it for now, let me know if you want anything added or if you want another guide published!

FAQ Top

Q: Why are all the heroes so high up on the threat list???
A: Cause it takes a ton of skill to play SAW correctly and you are extremely vulnerable/squishy, especially when going cp(You're literally a glass cannon cause Mad Cannon + Shatterglass xD). A lot of players tend to be overaggressive and die often, thus making SAW useless late game. You cannot let them get fed and have to be playing extremely well in order to win(unless your enemies suck).

Bonus Chapter! Top

As a thank you for reading my guide, I made a bonus chapter! This chapter will be telling you a few unknown secret that you probably don't know about. This chapter is about making your guide better, so if you don't have one yet, I would highly encourage you to make one. If you don't want to make a guide, then you can skip this chapter.

Have you ever wanted to a certain color for you guide but you thought that you couldn't choose it? Now you probably think that you only have a small palette of colors to choose from for your guide but that is not true. And if you've used the colors before you are also probably wondering how I managed to use these when they are supposedly not available. The answer is actually quite simple. The command to change the color is {color=#Hexcode]Put text in here{/color} Now, you can easily change the hex code and find the specific color you need by just going to a hex code finder site and inserting it into the hexcode area. (Replace the {} brackets with [] brackets btw)

Goodbye (For now) Top

This is the end of the guide, If you want this guide to have more detail/features like a table of contents(haven't added it yet bc I'm lazy :P) or something, just tell me in the comment section or DM me. This is the end (I'll still update it) guys, good luck on getting Vainglorious and I hope this guide has helped you become better! See ya on the Fold!
