Krul Put it simply Krul was designed to counter Glaive he pretty much negates the damage Glaive does mid game with lifesteal. Do not engage him by your self!

WARNING:

This build and guide require a more than average knowledge of Vainglory. If you are a beginner please play a few matches and get use to how Glaive feels and how his abilities work. Goodluck!

Why use this build/guide? Top

On your journey through Vainglory you will encounter countless matches where you have only one teammate or you get abandoned by yourself. This guide and build together will ensure that you can carry your team to victory whilst mowing down whatever is in your path and making your enemies scared to face you.

Intro to Glaive Top

Glaive is an upclose melee fighter. He excels in dealing damage fast to knock opponents down. He excels most with a weapon build. But crystal builds work aswell helping massively reduce his cooldowns for continuous stuns. He is a great teamfight initiater and a strong jungler. If you see this guy in the jungle watch out because he if he catches you with an Afterburn stun its over. However Glaive relies on his 3 core items late game. Tornado Trigger, Tyrant's Monocle and Sorrowblade He will last mid game with just a Tornado Trigger but will die off if you do not build a Tyrant's Monocle ASAP after it.

Stats 1 - 12 Top

Abilities Top

Pros Top

- Mass Body Builder.
- Big Damage Output.
- Ganks Easily.
- Can start and finish teamfights.
- Can turn around fights with Afterburn stun.

Cons Top

- Very vulnerable to being kited early game.
- Afterburn and Twisted Stroke have long cooldowns.
- Relies on Damage.
- Needs decent Teammates.

Items - Explanation - Weapon Top

- Tornado Trigger
Maximizes the damage Glaive can deal in a short amount of time.

- Tyrant's Monocle
Stacks with Tornado Trigger increasing the critical chance even more and increasing damage by a big margin.

- Sorrowblade
Adding to the damage even more, purely for destruction.

- Tension Bow
This item is insane. If you build it before the 10 minute mark you can deal some serious damage. It will fall off late game as the enemy starts to level up and build armor (if they do). Quickly farm this item up after Tornado Trigger (Thanks to Sixx for the corrections).

- Bonesaw This item can be essential to be built over Tension Bow if the enemy has armor built. It will help out with DPS and to shred the hell out of their armor with Armor Piercing.

- Metal Jacket This item is a must with most builds, buffing Glaive up some more so you can stay in the fight longer and deal more damage. (Thanks to triggah_mike for the idea. Go add him up and check out his stream at www.twitch.tv/triggah_mike and his youtube channel (Triggah Mike) and Thorin).

- Journey Boots
Making Glaive a true predator and nearly making him impossible to escape alive. Travel Boots are good enough to have untill you build all of your core items than consider these.

Items - Explanation - Crystal. Top

- Aftershock
This item is a must as Crystal Glaive. It helps cooldown acceleration, energy recharge and most importantly the damage your basic attacks will do after using an ability.

- Alternating Current
Important Mid Game item, this adds to your attack speed and Crystal Power. But most of all it's got a special ability that makes your basic attacks deal 50 + %75 of your Crystal Power in damage!.

- Clockwork
Another crucial item for this build as cooldown acceleration is a big factor. The %50 adds up with two of these. This build really stands out.

- Frostburn
Gives you more Crystal Power and Max Energy. Important as Afterburn will go through energy fast. It also has a handy slow after hitting an enemy with an ability.

- Shatterglass
Adding a huge amount of Crystal Power (115), increasing ability damage.

- Journey Boots
Making Glaive a true predator and nearly making him impossible to escape alive. Travel Boots are good enough to have untill you build all of your core items than consider these.

Objectives Top

Glaive has a few objectives to help his team out whilst being a a huge beast that rips heroes apart.

GANKING.
I can't stress this enough but when you have your first core item you need to gank otherwise your team will get overrun and you will just get dropped by 10 - 0 Ringo's that deal like 400 damage with each hit. Unless absolutely necessary try and stay farming untill you have your first core item.

TURRETS.
Gotta love em, the big machines that don't like anyone. Middle Game when your minions push up to the turrets. Try to help friendly heroes to take down the turrets. Glaive has DPS like crazy when he get's a Tornado Trigger and a Tyrant's Monocle don't just be a kill *****.

BEING FRIENDLY.
As much as it might hurt you try not to go 20 - 0 every game. You need to atleast share some kills around when you think you are OP enough. Otherwise your team dies. The enemy gangs up on you with stuns out of no where and bursts you down aces you and than rushes the Vain. Let your teammates build there items aswell. Don't make them farm the jungle like you had to in the Early Game.

Using Afterburn To Your Advantage Top

A series of pictures showing which walls can be crossed through with Afterburn use this to your advantage for stealing mines, kraken, faster jungling, escaping, chasing or just cleaning up an enemy for an initiation or final blow. (Blue Circles indicate the standing point of Glaive the line is how to cross over.

A. This shows the Minion Mines that are located on both sides of the map handy for a quick steal or cleaning up enemies with low health who have just taken the mine.
B. This shows the wall located on the left side base can be used for entry to the jungle or mainly for escaping when you are caught in the jungle.
C. This shows the regeneration creeps located on both sides of the map used for stealing or finishing off an enemy.
D. This shows the XP and Gold creeps, there are 4 sets of these located on both sides of the map ( 2 each side) used for stealing or mostly used for sneaky entry to initiate enemies taking Kraken.
E. This shows the area that the Gold Mine and later on kraken is located, Mostly used for stealing the mine and kraken. Or finishing enemies off that have just taken them.
F. This shows 4 walls labeled A, B, C, D. Located on the left side of the map. A, B and C are just walls for escaping lane or entering lane, or retreating from the jungle to a turret. D is again used for stealing the regen creep or exiting the lane and entering the camp.

Teammates That Help Glaive Top

Adagio, a great asset to Glaive using his slow and stun combo in sync with Afterburn can be deadly as hell. With his damage buff and healing you will be a mini Kraken!

Petal, her seeds can be useful when ganking the lane or teamfights. She tremendously helps out on distracting the enemies with her pets allowing your DPS to do mad work.

Joule, her Rocket Jump combined with the damage of Glaive is an unstoppable team. You will rip enemies apart in no time especially if Joule has a Crystak Build you will be an unending team of annoyance

Koshka, a deadly damage dealer like you. She also is very annoying when paired with Glaive and Afterburn. If she has Frostburn good luck escaping.

Krul, the master of one on one faces any fight with a teammate at no problem especially Glaive with this build. You will be an unstoppable team of lifesteal and critical damage your DPS paired together is insane!

My oh my, Catherine someone Glaive will wish for. When she has the right build of cooldown and defense you guys will tear apart anyone you meet. With her shield and stun combo and your stun and DPS. No one will have the guts to face you.

As goes for the rest of the heroes they all do their job as backup damage dealers and just being annoying whike you takr the heat. Simple!

Enemies Against Glaive Top

Adagio can be a threat against Glaive, only if the player is advanced as he needs to land his slow and stun on you effectively to take you out but if you get close to him he is meat.

Joule is just annoying she can stun you and deal a decent amount of damage. But you should be able to outfight her unless she is fed off her *** and has tier 3 items like mad. Just stay in her face and use your stun when available just slice through her and stun her from behind,

Put it simply Koshka can only kill you if she is fed. She is a little ***** cat against Glaive he is the mean big cat that she inspires to be. Just same strat as Joule. Stun, Kill.

Your clone Glaive it will be a rough battle. It is a fight of the first stun who wins as both burst will be equal. Unless they have a Crystal Power build, they can stand a tough fight, Just do smart stuns.

Again Catherine can only kill you if she is advanced at playing her. She requires timingly stuns and shields and needs to know when to silence you and when not to as you can burst her down easily.

Krul is a pain in the ***, his lifesteal and damage is annoying as hell. He will outfight you indefinitely if you are alone. When he has half stacks on you slice through him with Afterburn and stun him. Than keep repeating and spamming to deal maximum DPS. You need a teammate for efficient Krul ownage.

As for the rest of the Ranged Carrys they are easy to kill unless fed obviously than their DPS is just insane. Squishy as hell easy to stun. Your burst damage will rip them apart. Not a problem just be smart when engaging 2 at a time cause if you're out of place they might just combine their DPS and burst you.

Early Game Top

Glaive's early game is important. In these stages generally the start of the game to around the 10 minute mark is a crucial non-stop farming time for Glaive. Start off with an Ironguard Contract and 4 Halcyon Potion's than head to the jungle and start farming. All you need to do is farm, and farm try to avoid confrontation with other enemy heroes as they can quite easily kill you if you are not careful. When you can buy Sprint Boots, Six Sins and Lucky Strike. Or Chronograph and if you can afford it grab an Eclipse Prism aswell. Just focus on clearing the jungle creeps. When you can before you buy a Tornado Trigger it is important that you quickly rush in a Tension Bow once you buy that, continue the build. Cautiously capturing mines and work towards your 1st purchase items. That is all there is to his early game.

Middle Game Top

Time for Glaive to shine you have reached the 10 - 15 minute mark. By now you should have your first core item built. You can now start some ganking. Tornado Trigger & Aftershock on Weapon/Crystal will help out alot in this time, more than you think. Ganking as Glaive is a simple process:

Step 1 : Enter the brush closest to the enemy you are ganking
Step 2 : Afterburn through them from the side walk behind them and knock them back
Step 3 : Use Bloodsong (Should have atleast 15 stacks.
Step 4 : Use Twisted Stroke
Step 5 : They should be dead if not Afterburn to finish them off unless they have help than just retreat.

From now you should start entering the lane more often and destroy some turrets. But keep a steady farm rate as you need alot of gold to build your items. Wander between the lane when needed and the jungle.

That is pretty much Glaive's mid game. Too easy right?

Late Game Top

20-30 Minute Mark. By now your core items should be built along with Journey Boots now just feel free to go wherever you want as you should be an unstoppable machine. Just be cautious of the enemies builds. By now you should have a decent array of Kills and Assists to help your gold count tremendously. Try to avoid 1 v 3 confrontations. Just rack up some easy kills and finish your build slay Kraken and win the game.

It is as simple as that!, but if you have not so good teammates who feed the enemy kills. Be careful as Glaive still needs some back damage dealers behind him in the big teamfights. Just be smart, if you think you can kill the enemy you can. If you don't you can't. Just wait for the opportunity to show itself.
