Starting Items to Early Game Top

Signal to your friends that you will be farming in the jungle. Position in the middle of the two sets of jungle neutral creeps. Plant a seed in front of you. Kill first the solo creep while planting seeds cooldown after cooldown. Kill the other two creeps at the other side. You should have planted 3 to 4 seeds and reached level 2. Activate Yay, Pets! and proceed farming to the other locations of the creeps. Conserve your energy. Don't just plant seeds. You can do that later. When you're done with all 6 creeps, go to the middle shop, buy Sprint Boots and, depending on your enemy heroes, you buy first either Light Shield or Light Armor:

Light Shield: against crystal-dependent enemy heroes (e.g., Petal, Adagio)
Light Armor: against physical damage-intensive enemy heroes (e.g., Glaive)

Continue farming. Focus on gaining money and leveling up. At level 6, you will be more formidable than most of your opponents and friends alike, if not the most formidable.

Monitor the game clock -- at 3:50, proceed to your team's Mine Site. There should be no problem in taking out its guardian. Assist your friends during clashes because you are the most intimidating hero now with your pesky pets.

Do not be afraid to steal the enemy Mine Site and the Gold Mine by yourself. Monitor though the movements of your enemies in the map. At this point, you cannot survive all three opponents ganging up on you, especially Adagio and Joule.

Keep your health always full by using Halcyon Potion. Always keep and at least two potions and wisely use them during this period. Buy them in batches when passing the middle shop or together when buying other items.

Once you have enough money and at around level 5 to 6, you should have added these items: Heavy Prism and Oakheart and make sure you both have Light Shield and Light Armor.

The key to being successful in using Petal is balancing this hero's Attack-Defense capability hence the early purchase of Defense items because Petal deals a lot of aggregate damage together with her pets already. And once you get three kills already and enemies start noticing, they will hunt you down so make sure you can flee faster and highly defensive than they thought you are.

An enemy hero will not stand a chance one-on-one with your exploding pets around him (Spontaneous Combustion). And right after exploding, make sure to revive your seeds (Yay, Pets!) to deal additional damage and continue your attack just in case the enemy is still alive.

Mid Game to End Game Top

By now, you should have bought Travel Boots, Dragon Heart, Kinetic Shield and Coat of Plates, following the plan to build an balanced Attack-Defense-capable Petal.

Travel Boots will support in maintaining your good health before clashing with enemy heroes and assisting to destroy lane towers with your friends' heroes. It complements your additional health with the purchase of Dragon Heart.

And of course, Frostburn! Because of this item's cheap price, you will most probably be the first to gain a third-tier ability item. Together with the Travel Boots' +0.5 move speed, your enemies will be very surprised why they cannot outrun your attacks -- Frostburned! Be sure to use Spontaneous Combustion for a swift kill as you do not want other enemies to extend help and intimidate you while you're killing one of their own.

Scatter your seeds throughout the jungle, and spend 70 to 80 percent of your time there, helping out in the lanes only when friends are under attack or reducing towers to ashes.

The jungle is now yours. Control it. Do not let any hero take it from you. Steal their Mine Site and kill the critters in their side of the jungle. Place Scout Traps in their side of the jungle and near their Mine Site to intimidate them should they want to re-take their Mine Site. Also with extra money, put Scout Traps around the perimeter of the Gold Mine and/or the Middle Shop if your opponents feel courageous enough to buy items in the Middle Shop.

Once you have Crucible, Aegis and Atlas Pauldron or Metal Jacket, you are pretty much invincible during clashes with your friends, regardless of the enemies' build. With Crucible, you've greatly increased your support capabilities. Do not hesitate to use them in instantly protecting your friends at the start of battle since most other enemy heroes will be activating their ultimates at the start of the clash and you and your friends will just shrug them off with Crucible's Reflex Block. If things do not turn out your way, escape after activating Aegis and hope that your tougher than your enemies with your worn Metal Jacket so that you don't get killed.

Experience though is such that when you have these items already, you would have already stormed the enemy base and the game is on you and your friends' finishing touches. If the enemies refuse to surrender, save money and proceed to acquiring Aftershock.

Your game score by then would be (around) 12 or 15 kills, zero deaths, 5 assists!
