What's up guys!

I'm Falcuneer and today I am bringing to you my first ever VG guide.

I love playing Vainglory, but it is also super frustrating when your team doesn't hold up their end of the bargain. I'm sure we've all experienced those players who go afk (away from keyboard), excessively (and pointlessly) ping, and steal your farm. Trust me, I've been there.

In light of that, I have made this guide for players who need a friendly wake-up call or for the new players who are very confused at everything. Or maybe, you know about all of these things and can totally disregard them. That's fine too. My goal, though, is to help players improve their game so that not only will you enjoy the game thoroughly, but your team will and then you can taste the sweet satisfaction of Vain Glory ;).

Dos and Don'ts Top

1. Build Defense!-I see so many players who don't build defense and two things usually happen: they fail miserably or they luckily carry IF they're good enough. Most of the time, failure happens and your team suffers for it.

2.Don't be a selfish Roam-I also see way too many selfish roamers. Selfish roamers are those who "roam", but only build one or two team items and the rest attack items. This is my biggest pet peeve because when this happens, again unless the roam can magically carry, it brings the whole team down. Roams are supposed to be the ones who always, no matter what, keep their teammates safe and alive. Anything outside of that ruins the game.

3. Be a selfless Roam-This is very similar to not being a selfish roam, but this tip has examples of how to be selfless, not to be not selfish. As a roam, as stated before, your goal is to keep your teammates safe and alive, but it is also your goal to lessen your wants and be aware of your teammates wants--teammates come first. You can achieve this by not stealing farm, taking hits for your teammates, literally dying for them so they can escape, etc. Doing these things might not alter the course of the game, but you will get immediate respect (hopefully).

"On, no. I'm dying!!! Helpppppppp," cries Taka

"Don't worry. I'm here. Hiyah" *Crucible* "Go on without meeeeeeeee!" cries (fill in the blank with a roam) *death*

"...What a guy."

4. Don't be TOO aggressive-Yes, there are times to be aggressive: going in to finish a kill and sneaking out ( Taka); finishing the pesky last hero for an Ace; Kracken stealing ;). However, most times over-aggressiveness is really bad for you and your team. Most of the times I've played aggressively, I've failed.

5. Don't be the hero if you don't need to be-If you see that your team is getting squashed, like OBLITERATED, destroyed, smuushed, DO NOT GO HELP. Sure, you'll die a glorifying hero's death, but who will be there to praise you? No one because your team will be dead and you'll get Aced and, yeah...

6.Be aware of the enemy team-This "do" can be achieved by constantly checking the leader boards (or whatever it's called) to see what your team is building. If you see mostly blue things on the enemy team, build an Aegis; if you see mostly red, build some armor. (Also be aware when an enemy switches from weapon power to crystal power and vice versa.)

7. Don't insta-lock-Ugh. The insta-locker. I'm sorry, but I don't have a huge respect for insta-lockers because they usually end up being bad or not knowing how to play their position at all. Don't get me wrong, though! I have seen some really good insta-lockers so I'm sorry if I offended anyone. The problem with insta-locking is that it's selfish. What if the hero you picked was best used by one of your teammates? What if someone really wanted to play the position (lane, jungle, roam) that your insta-locked hero plays? All I'm saying is that a consensus with your teammates is way better than insta-locking. Remember, don't be a selfish roam, but don't be a selfish player.

8. Switch up your team's damage-This is a very crucial prerequisite for the match. In the hero selection (after you haven't insta-locked ;)) choose which type of damage you want. If you want weapon power, click weapon; if you want crystal power, click crystal. Or, if you're teammate selects a type of damage, NEVER pick the same one. Always split the damage! This is so necessary because double anything is very, very easy to build defense against and you'll fail in late game because of said defense. I've only seen few cases where double, even triple crystal power!, has worked. Sometimes double weapon power works (SOMETIMES). Still, switch up your team's damage!

9. Don't take your teammate's farm-Whether in lane or in jungle you almost never steal your teammate's farm. That is a big No-No. Roams, don't steal your Jungler's farm (unless you need the regen) and don't steal your laners farm unless they teleported back or they died. Junglers, don't steal your laner's farm unless you have to (aced minions, exceptions above) and laners, don't steal your jungler's farm, unless you need the regen. Plain and simple.

10. Don't build Bonesaw if the enemy team has no armor to bonesaw through!-There is no point whatsoever to get a Bonesaw if the enemy team has no armor! Bonesaw was made for the purpose shredding enemies with armor so only use it in that case!

11. Infuse!-Infusing is the key to late games because it will boost your damage in team fights to an exponential level. Now, I don't know all the stats and figures when it comes to what Infusions do, but I know they do A LOT. They either boost your weapon power ( Weapon Infusion) or they boost your abilities' power ( Crystal Infusion) and become available as a seventh item in the late game (I think at the fifteen minute mark). Make sure you grab one before a team fight or even sacrifice getting one instead of getting a tier three item. It's up to you!

12. Stutter step-Stutter stepping is one of those techniques you learn that improve your game as whole, drastically (if you're a laner or Taka). Stutter stepping is simply always moving right after you attack. Attack, step, attack, step, etc.

13. Kite!-Kiting is another one of those gosh darn good techniques. Kiting has saved me sooooooooo many times, especially while playing with Vox (he's a great kiter). There will be instances where an enemy is chasing me down and I kite, kite, (and stutter step) and kite some more and I kill them. It is the most hilarious thing (for those of you who know) to kill someone when you are on such low health and they have pretty good health. Every time I kite-kill I laugh my head off.

Kiting is like stutter stepping, but it involves usually moving backwards an auto-attacking an enemy. You tap backwards while still auto-attacking, and keep tapping backwards. It is a lot of fun.

14. Don't excessively ping-No one likes the guy who pings the question mark (?) ping when a mistake happens. Mistakes will happen as they always do in life. However, doing it in for the wrong reasons is too condoning and hurts the team chemistry. More than three pings are never a good option because by that time, your teammates will understand or say sorry for their mistakes. Also, don't excessively ping with the other pings unless it is very imperative. More than three pings are never a good option because by that time, your teammates will understand or say sorry for their mistakes.

15. Honor your teammates; dishonor them rarely-Similar to a like on Facebook, honoring your teammate accomplishes the same goal: respect to another. At the end of every math honor everyone (yes, everyone) whether you lost or won. I must admit this is incredibly hard and sometimes I don't honor dishonor a player because they played an okay game. I sometimes dishonor someone because they didn't know what they were doing. But, don't take it from me. All I'm saying is to honor your teammates for the work they put in.

16. Be patient with your teammates-This one is probably the hardest because it requires morality. It you see a player go AFK, don't ping them; I'm sure they know that they have to quickly get back to the game. Also, if someone is playing a strangely bad game, be considerate of lag. This may sound cheesy, but the reality of it is that if you respect your teammates, than your game will improve. Something about being nice creates good things. It's strange...

Conclusion Top

And that about wraps it up!

Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone or made an incorrect statement. These are my opinions, but feel free to comment, question them or me, and give a huge like (or honor). This is my first guide and fairly new to VG as well so be patient with me because I'll be sure to post more guides.

I will also be updating this guide in the future because things will come up that I will want to address.

Finally, Just remember to respect your teammates and they will respect you. Be the guy who people, when ending the match say, "wow, he/she was a really great player."

Thanks and Fold ya later,

Fal
