2 Reflex block helps me a lot and if you stun enemies ADC first, you will win the gank most of the time.
But I do use Fountain sometimes.It will be quite useful as enemies team is on upper hand in the midgame.

But Fountain helps your team. That is your purpose. Aegis only helps you, and the damage you deal is insignificant compared to your carries. You don't but Fountain for the shield, you do it for the amazing heal.

I did kill Fountain Catherine with Aegis build and also Kill Aegis Catherine with Fountain build on Full health 1 vs 1 and also in ganks. So there is no totally absolute which items is best. It depends on your playstyle and also your ally.
Examples if on mid game you and your team already overkill your enemy, or you are the first who get kill in ganks. In such situation, I believe Aegis is a better choice. Of course if vice versa I will choose Fountain rather than aegis.
