When you get both items you'll get both the stats before building the T3 item but as soon as you get the T3 item you should get the base stats of the items but for some items it differs and the stats change like with BP the extra WP from heavy steal you get is lowered and the attack speed is heightened a bit.

Example: If you get a blazing salvo building into alt current, you'll only have the 35 attack speed. Same with heavy prism alone but with 50 CP. If you get both the items you'll get both 50CP and 35 attack speed but as soon as you buy the T3 Item you'll have the alt current doing its job with basic attacks and you'll still have the attack speed and crystal power, if you buy alternating current straight from the shop, no need to worry you still get the stats from the item, same with only buying one part of the item like blazing salvo then upgrading it to T3 from there because you have that much gold.

So your question answered simply, you can go a one way path if you don't have any slots for the other item to build into the T3 item and you'll still get the other stats from the item once you get the CP item, it's just beneficial to build both the items building into the T3 Item most of the time because when saving for it you get more stats so your not as weak. Remember changing the path way of getting a T3 item won't change its base cost, if you do the math it's still the same price.

Usually, not with breakinf point though, however the two items together are normally worse than what thwy build together to make

True the items building up to your item are worse but sometimes the stats do change on top of your new T3 Item, like BP it's better to have the tier 3 of item but before buying it the stats are higher then the base stats then T3 items. Like BP in the old update, you would have 20 Crit chance and 10 Crit damage and 35 attack speed but once upgraded, no base Crit but 40 attack speed with the passive of BP.
