I would say take them either way. If you laner is doing good, keep the pressure up by pushing all the way down the lane. The enemy will have to focus more on pushing the minions back and taking mines while you have more control of the game. It's all about putting pressure on the enemy.

Always target the mines. Always. That way you know where the other player HAS to go.

Always take the mines, earning that little amount of money could end up turning the tide in the wrong way from being to greedy.
