I saw pro play on SAW using tornado trigger so it must be somewhat viable on saw right (maybe the update changes it)? Great guide tho!

Krul is so dangerous to saw. If you dont have good armor. you will lose to game. Or you need to take good position in team fight. saw is bulky hero. ın team fight.

Great Guide! 1 question though
If Krul is dangerous to Saw, why do you put him in threat level 2

Very well thought out guide. Well done. I will point out one thing tho. Saw gets an additional 2 shells from the overdrive on Mad Cannon, not just 20 seconds of cool down. Now for that I'll argue both sides of the coin.

It's very difficult for those two shells to equal the extra 360 damage you point out getting from the Suppressing Fire overdrive. Since it's based on missing health an opponent would need to be missing 1200 health for 1 shell to do 180 damage (thus x2 equals the 360). The average health of a character is 1619, so it is possible for them to be missing that much, so it is possible to replicate the 360 damage boost of Suppressing Fire with the 2 extra shells of Mad Cannon. Possible, but very very situational. I'd say this was an argument for the Suppressing Fire fans.

The flip side of that is that in order to achieve the full benefit of the 360 damage you get from the Suppressing Fire overdrive they have to be hit by the ability for the duration. Suppressing Fire is one of those abilities (like Skye's Forward Barrage) that is an amount of damage spread out over the duration of the ability. So while Suppressing Fire may have the edge from the 360 overdrive boost, Mad Cannon is a more certain way to apply damage. So this is an argument for the Mad Cannon fans.

Understand I'm not on either side. I have a love/hate relationship with SAW. I really like playing the character. But I suck with him, and I hate when teammates pick him because inevitably we lose, because as you said it's a challenge to play him well. I also hate playing against him for some reason. Anyways. There are times where I'll head into casual because (and I actually say this to myself) "sometimes you just need to play a little Saw". I'm going to use this guide to see if I can finally figure out how to use him beyond just having fun.

Again well done, up vote given.

Thanks for pointing this out. It is true that with more shots from Mad Cannon you can shoot more shells. However, the point I make in the guide is that having that many extra shots is essentially useless since they only come in handy when the enemy is at low health. In fact, it can even be a hindrance after you kill the enemy that is at low health (which typically doesn't take more than 3 shots) since you still have to fire the remaining shells on enemies that potentially have enough health to make the shots useless. At that point all they do is slow you down.

You also point out that Mad Cannon shots give you double the spin stacks for every shot, this is true. This can be useful in sticky situations where you don't have your a or b. Despite this, it still isn't wise to max Mad Cannon for this reason. Having two points in Mad Cannon already gives you 7 shells to build up the stacks. With 7 you already will potentially have one extra shot that could slow you down. With 9 shells it actually makes it MORE risky to use Mad Cannon to build up stacks since there could be even more useless shells leftover.

On top of this, Suppressing Fire gives you the stacks in a much shorter period and gets a huge reliable damage boost when overdriven. You said yourself that it is VERY situational for Mad Cannon's overdrive to outclass the overdrive of Suppressing Fire.

IMO SAW's ult needs a huge rework. He has the most useless ult for a weapon build in the game.

Anyway, hope this guide helps you play SAW better!

I'm a big fan of this WP build, but I differ on one point: I prefer not to buy boots of any kind as Saw. Dropping them means you can have both Aegis and Jacket/Pauldrons without sacrificing the extra level of DPS. Better, trade boots for a Serpents Mask – you can't move much in a team fight anyway, and this will keep you alive for a few extra seconds.

I agree to not having boots. SAW is designed to "stand his ground". The boots is just for escape or to get to a location faster. You can unlock the full potential of saw by opening a slot for another item

I disagree. Not having boots means you can't surprise the enemy by sprinting up to them and unleashing your full spin. You will also be slower when using Roadie Run. Just because SAW isn't supposed to be mobile doesn't mean you shouldn't make him mobile at all. If you don't have boots all the enemies have to do is bring the fight away from you and there will be little you can do about it.

For the SAW guild, why nor two defense? One for CP and one for wp?
For example, if you encounter a SAW and a cp ringo, what should I do ?

I mention in the build that you can buy a second armor item if need be. And if the Ringo builds Aftershock I would go with armor. But I would get Aegis whenever possible for the reflex effects.

Dang! I really enjoyed your guide, it's really comprehensive.
I used to play SAW pretty well, but ever since the new META Roamers came in everything blew up and I switched back to Taka, but now I can get back my footing as a WP SAW!

Even better is that CP SAW let's me continue my namesake and just delete heroes.
I just went 18/0 with CP SAW, goodness.
