Introduction: Important tips I've learned playing Vainglory Top

I've been playing VG for around 3 weeks now. I get obsessive when I find a new game that I enjoy playing. Because of that obsession, I did a ton of research to learn how to get better at VG. Here are some things that I think learned through that research:

-Team work is what wins most games. A lot of times, it doesn't matter if you build an insane character if you or your teammates have to battle 1v3 or 1v2. To be successful, you must strive to gank as a team, or at least a pair. You must also watch for pings and then go help your teammate.

-It's better to survive than to die. Help your teammate get away if you can, but there is a point of no return for them if they are getting ganked. It's better to run away and stay alive to continue to collect more gold.

-I think that the gold mine plays a huge factor in winning. Try to win the gold mine and defend it to get that easy gold.

-You should at least have a rough idea of every characters abilities. I found the easiest way to do this is to watch Youtube videos displaying character builds. By understanding the strengths and weaknesses, you can maximize the effectiveness of your abilities to help your team win.

-You should take a little bit of time to see what the other team is building multiple times throughout each game. I've found that defenses work really well in this game, and if one team is building all crystal/weapon, it is very easy to build armor and make the other team less effective.

Ringo Build and Tips Top

First the Build:

Start the game with an energy battery and two halcyon potions and Twirling Silver . Refer to tip #1 on how to use Twirling silver.Go to the lane and start collecting gold. The energy battery allows Ringo to maintain his energy which allows him to be a bigger nuisance for the enemy heros in the lane. As you level up, max out Ringo's first ability, Achilles Shot , as soon as possible. I use this as Ringo's most consistent damage dealer when fighting enemy hero. Once maxed out, Achilles shot does silly damage on top of the slow down. Refer to tip #2 below on how to maximize Double down/Achilles shot.

The first trip back to the base, purchase Sprint boots and begin building to Clockwork . With whatever remaining gold you have, purchase up to five Halcyon potions . Usually I can purchase Clockwork outright if I was able to stay in the lane long enough. I aim for Clockwork first to give me the ability to spam Achilles shot. By this point, if there aren't 2 enemy hero's in the lane, ping for your teammates to come gank. The slow on the Achilles shot will inhibit the enemy hero from being able to get away very easily. The lane is the most efficient way to accumulate gold in the game. If the enemy hero is dead, they are losing critical gold farming time.

Around Mid Game(10-20 minutes) or sooner if possible, I start building the first Shatterglass . The earlier you build this item the more destructive it is. It's so powerful because most enemy heroes have not begun to build any armor. Achilles shot with Shatterglass destroy enemy teams. The Clockwork from earlier allows you to spam Achilles shot to finish off enemy players. I also build a Void battery as soon as I find myself running out of energy. Whenever an enemy hero has Travel Boots , you need to buy Travel boots for Ringo. I saw on another Ringo build that Ringo is the fastest character in the game when you combine Travel boots with the speed boost from Twirling silver. This is helpful in chasing to finish enemies and escaping to safety.

Late Game(20min-end), I build the second Shatterglass . Once you have this you will take at least 50% of enemy health on each Achilles shot. I usually hit closer to 66% of enemy health with Achilles shot after getting second Shatterglass. I build into Eve of Harvest for the life steal and added energy regeneration. Most games I play, I don't usually get to the point of building into Journey Boots . The game is usually close to over around this time and the Travel boots work fine.

I left the last item slot open to customize your build based on what the other team is doing.

Finishing team fights with Ringo. Refer to tip# 5.

Tips:

#1. Ringo's second ability, Twirling Silver does several things. It allows Ringo to basic attack faster and also run faster. These are two great abilities early game. Everytime, before you leave the base, activate Twirling Silver. The base will regenerate the energy used before the leave the base and you'll be moving faster. When you're attack in the lane, right after you basic attack a creep, activate Twirling Silver and it will attack again right away. When you are attacking creeps that much faster, you are gaining gold that much faster.

#2. Ringo's Heroic ability, Double down, is pretty useful if used properly. It is activated on the shot after a kill shot. When Ringo kills a creep, his next shot will be a critical hit. This is useful in the lane, which is where Ringo should be anyway. Right after I kill a creep, I use to hit an enemy hero. This makes Achilles shot so much more useful by both slowing the enemy hero and hitting really hard pretty early in the game.

#3. Ringo is a weak character. He is even weaker when you don't build any armor like this build. To be successful with this build, you have to play smart and stay behind your teammates/tanks. You are a lot more useful alive than you are dead to your team.

#4. Ringo has a great ability with Achilles shot to assist a teammate trying to escape a fight that they are losing with Achilles shot. Usually the other players will be weak already because of the fight and Achilles shot will hit like a hammer and also slow the enemy down so that your teammate can safely escape. Watch for pings from teammates and run to help them.

#5. Ringo's Ultimate Hellfire Brew is a beast. It does a ton of damage and the added burn at the end is usually enough to finish off enemies that survive the initially burst damage. It seems like there is a lot of disagreement on when to use this technique. I've found that if you use is wisely, you can use it to finish fights really easy. The argument is that the enemy team can counter the main burst damage with Reflex block or Crucible . This is entirely true, I can't argue against it. If you use hellfire brew while the other team still has a reflex block or crucible, you've wasted one of the best attacks in the game. Instead, I argue that you continually check to see what the other team is building, and don't use hellfire brew until you are sure that it cannot be blocked. No enemy should be able to escape if you have this skill available. I find that most people I play against are not very disciplined to save the reflex block or crucible just for this one attack. If they are getting beat early in a fight, they will freak out and waste it.

Thanks Top
