Ringo It is very situational here.

  No Threat
2
Krul Spectral Smite is a pain. The debuff is too good against you. Avoid melee, avoid staying in front and you can kite him relatively easily. Ringo is Krul's best counter. Just keep your distance. Remember, mobility is the key. Pay attention of the ultimate which is the only real threat.

5
Glaive It is not really a 5/10. It's the average between 1/10 and 10/10. Glaive can kill you in an instant if he catches you. But if his Afterburn is on Cooldown, you can kite him until his death with ease. Always wait for him to use his Afterburn. With Ringo, you should really pay attention to him as a Crystal Glaive can kill you in a single combo. You have more room for mistakes against a Weapon's one. Unfortunately, Glaive has the biggest health amount. He's most likely to be the last target.
6
SAW Same as Glaive, it is not a real 3/5 but an average. If you can avoid his Suppressing Fire, keep firing him. If you can't, you will have a hard time... Roadie Run is a real pain. You can't do much against this. As soon as you see him using his first skill, Achilles Shot him right away. He's hard to kite because of this and if he runs to you, he will go slower and it's the perfect time to 1- Fire him til death 2- Avoid the big incoming burst. Situational.
7
Adagio Adagio is a tough target, not the hardest but he will give you a hard time though. Keep your distance from him. Of course, he's a ranged character but he's a monster if you stay close. If you can avoid his Gift of Fire ability's slow, you can win this duel. If you keep your distance, he also won't be able to proc his Eve of Harvest on his first skill so he'll only benefit from the single heal. Against a team, he should not be the first target. Aim the squishy one first. Unfortunately, Adagio has medium health so he has a great sustain power with his heal. You should be extremely careful against him. He does not have escape abilities so you can kite him but in order to do so you have to get him low health which is a painful task. Save your Reflex Block for his ultimate or it's game over.
7
Petal She deals more damage than you. Avoid her ultimate, avoid the face-to-face. You can't kite her, she's ranged too. But she is squishy. Just wait for your teammates and play sneaky with her. On a 1v1 situation, you can't win but once you get her with mid life or trying to flee, she's free meat.
8
Koshka The nightmare of all squishy things. She's the biggest threat against you. Two gap closers, a movement speed bonus. She can stick to you all day long. And she hurts. Kiting her is hard as she can always gap close you and her Heroic Perk is a real pain. BUT she is as weak and squishy as you are. Outdamage her. Avoid her second skill (she will most likely use it after her pounce). Reflex Block her ultimate. Fortunately, she is not that played and people playing her do not play her to her full potential. If you're against a skilled one, pray for your teammates to help you. AVOID HER early game, she's the best early game hero.
8
Joule Her passive is tough and her #2 skill hurts a lot; it's not really ideal to kite her as she has a big range on her second skill and sooner or later her ultimate will kill you. Speaking of her ultimate, it can be dodged but it takes practice. She can practically OS you with this single skill. Pay attention to her. Once she's low on health, she can't escape your kiting power.
9
  No Threat
10
Catherine our living nightmare. A Merciless and your HP is cut down by a half. Stormguard and you can't do anything over than suicide. Your Achilles Shot is a good resource as well as your mobility. Always wait for her Stormguard to disappear and focus her. If she's far from you and target you with Merciless Pursuit, you have time to slow her with your Achilles Shot, then just disappear. She's a really tanky unit. Last target.

Introduction Top

Hi everyone, I'm Lexius.

Today, I decided to create this guide to present you my view on my favorite hero of Vainglory: Ringo. It is the first character I tried and since then he has remain my top used hero.

I've been influenced by @Toilets Catherine guide to make mine. Here is the link.
Check it, it really is the best build on this forum right now. Congratulations man!

4. Other tips

I do not claim to be the best even if I am fond of MOBA games since a long time and am experienced with most of them. I also am aware that this might not be the best build but this is the one I'm more comfortable with and it is the one, after two months of playing that I find to be the more efficient for my playstyle. Feedbacks are greatly appreciated, don't hesitate, I'm open to debates.

Let's start, shall we?

Hero Information Top

Difficulty: LOW

Ringo is often played as the primary damage dealer for his team. He can shoot at blinding speeds and finish off fleeing enemies with an epic fireball that follows foes across the battlefield. Incredibly weak in the early game, Ringo players should focus on earning as much gold as possible in the lane before picking big fights.

This is a good summary.

Ringo, in my opinion, is not considered as a low difficulty hero though. As the squishiest character in the game, he really needs good teammates as well as a perfect mobility to be the number one threat. He is really hard to master.

You can jungle early game but I do not recommend it. You're squishy and you're one of the slowest hero to jungle early game. You're vulnerable to early ganks as well. If you really want to jungle, stick with a teammate or be extremely careful.

In the lane, you'll have an easier time to clear up these creeps. As a ranged character, it will be easier to get the last hits to gather the gold and you will be safe from your distance. Moreover, Ringo is quite good at poking the enemy with Achilles Shot under the dice buff (see section 4) (not as good as SAW however).

On a side note, if one of your teammates is playing SAW, leave him the lane and go jungle. SAW is clearly the best laning character.

Overall, Ringo gains 69 Health, 22 Energy, 6 Armor and Shield, 3% Attack Speed and approximatively 6 Attack each level up. (it would be 6 Attack/lvl if you didn't gain 5 attack only on the last level up)

As you can see, you do not have a lot of health. In fact, you have one of the lowest health amount among all the other heroes if not the worst.

You also don't have a ridiculous amount of energy. Ringo will run out of mana so often.

ABILITIES

Double Down
Slot: Heroic Perk

Ringo's next basic attack after killing anything will be a critical strike.

Ringo's Double Down. While it is not the best of the game, it is a good passive and stack well the entire game. Useful for last hitting, useful for poking and gives a great amount of damage on your next attack while it's active.

However, it sometimes does not work. Check this discussion for further information.

Achilles Shot
Slot: A

Ringo fires a trick shot at his target's heel (or whatever lower extremity exists), slowing the target & dealing damage.

Energy Cost: 32/50/68/86/104 (+18/lvl)
Cooldown: 9s/8.5s/8s/7.5s/7s (-0.5s/lvl)
Slow Amount: 30%/35%/40%/45%/50% (+5%/lvl)
Slow Duration: 1.5s/1.75s/2s/2.25s/2.5s (+0.25s/lvl)
Damage: 80/125/170/215/240 (+45/lvl)

Ringo's bread and butter. A big burst, a great slow amount. You will most likely always use it when it's available on team fights. This skill is a great CC. Making it hard for your enemies to flee, it can also help you kite melee opponents and if they can't gap close, you can chase them to death. Max it asap, it is your most important skill.

Twirling Silver
Slot: B

Ringo slings bullets at his target in a mad flurry, dramatically increasing his attack speed and move speed for a duration.
  • Activating this ability resets Ringo's basic-attack cooldown.

Energy Cost: 30/38/46/54/62 (+8/lvl)
Bonus Attack Speed: 55%/59%/63%/67%/71% (+4%/lvl)
The CD and the duration stay the same. You can lower the CD with some items though.

This skill is all an ADC needs. Spam it all match long. Movement speed bonus, attack speed bonus. With some CD acceleration items, this skill has a lower CD than the duration which means you can always have the buff on if you keep on activating it. This is a great farming tool so upgrade it once at the beginning. It is needed to outrun your opponents so you can chase them or escape them. The movement speed bonus is not great but is required as this hero more than the others relies on mobility to survive.

It also gains an additional damage bonus hit if you have crystal items.

Hellfire Brew
Slot: C

Ringo takes a long swig from his gourd, then spits out a scorching fireball at his target. The explosion deals splash damage on impact and sets the target on fire, burning it & nearby enemies for 4s.
  • The fire pierces all shield on impact.

Energy Cost: 110/115/130 (+15/lvl)
Cooldown: 110/100/90 (-10/lvl)
Damage: 250/365/480 (+115/lvl)
Burn Damage: 30/50/70 (+20/lvl)

This ultimate is certainly the most feared ability of the entire game. First of all, you can activate it once you're at a range of 13 which is the highest range of the game. And once you activate it, even if the enemy is already 40 feet from you, the fireball will follow him all across the battlefield.

Then, it is an AoE skill which deals true damage (completely ignores enemy's shield). With a good crystal amount, this is easily the most damaging ability in the whole game. But it's not over, there's also a Burn DoT applied to the target which continuously damage them for seven seconds. This DoT prevents your enemy from recalling as well, canceling the recall each time he receives damages.

Unfortunately, this is way too easy to counter. A simple Reflex Block and your ultimate is wasted. A Crucible and the entire enemy team is immune to it. Also, pay attention to heroes who are most likely to stun you once you launch it. It takes a really long time to launch. A Reflex Block can help you avoid these stuns.

Overall, activate it from a distance because you can't do anything while activating it.

Personal Build Top

STARTING ITEMS
OR

Ringo should definitely start the game with an Energy Battery. This item provides extra energy as well as energy recharge. With this simple item, you are able to keep your energy at a good amount. It will prevent you from recalling when you'd normally be out of energy. So, you'll keep your lane. Potions are for survivability and are necessary early to mid game.

If with a SAW teammate, leave him the lane, go jungle with an Ironguard Contract and ward the Gold mine.

MID GAME ITEMS
OR
+
+

Grab Travel Boots if one of the enemies already has them. Buy Halcyon Potions whenever you can.

As a cheap early game item Tension Bow it is also a must have on this build. 2,300 gold is not a big deal and this is the first final item that you have to build. It gives a nice boost to attack power and a good armor penetration. But the most important bonus of this item is the burst it provides. Early game, this burst is so high coupled with Achilles Shot that you are obligated to get this. It makes your poking power so strong.

LATE GAME ITEMS
+
OR
+
+
+
OR

Alternating Current is your second priority. It's quite expensive but it's a really interesting item. 60 crystal power is really good. 40% attack speed is nice as well. The reason why you should buy this so early is that it is a must have item coupled with Twirling Silver: you get an amazing attack speed and each time you hit with a basic attack, you hit three times.

  • Your simple basic attack
  • The Alternative Current passive effect
  • The Twirling Silver's hit bonus with your crystal power amount.

You'll do a lot of damage with your auto attacks and you'll have nothing to desire from full Weapon Attack Power builds. I didn't check that but under the effects of Adagio's Agent of Wrath, you could probably get x4 hits which is enormous...

From here, it depends on the situation. Aftershock is a late game item and the 20% slice on enemy's HP is a MUST. Sorrowblade/ Shatterglass -> Depends on enemy's armor. If the entire enemy team built Aegis, defintely go for Sorrowblade. If they took Crucible, go for Shatterglass-> more bursts, more damages from Alternative Current. Same with both WP armors.

Journey Boots is a must have on every game. You need this mobility more than anyone. Built it last but Travel Boots needs to be built as soon as someone on the enemy team have them.

Armor is your last choice. Aegis/ Crucible is really helpful nowadays with the "full blue-s". Shiversteel is an interesting choice if you're not the first target. Against WP teams, Atlas Pauldron if they have many attack speed items. Metal Jacket if they are focused on heavy damage.

SITUATIONAL ITEMS

Eve of Harvest is situational and can be great against tanky enemy comps with the lifesteal and the max energy and energy recharge bonuses so that you can keep your mana to spam your burst skills. Sell your Tension Bow and get this instead. Tension Bow is a great early game item but falls off late game.

Broken Myth can be useful BUT your ultimate already bypass Shield so it doesn't synergies at all with your ultimate.

Frostburn can be useful as well as under the effects of Twirling Silver, you have a permanent 15% slow. BUT, Achilles Shot already slows your target so the item does not synergies with a skill as well. The energy and energy recharge bonuses are interesting but in this case, take Eve of Harvest instead.

Against @hux, don't build anything, he's too OP.

As you can see, I'm not building that much Weapon Power items. As I said before, Ringo needs mobility to be effective. With the above build, you have a lot of burst potential with your skills. You also have decent damage with auto attacks.

The more crystal you build, the greater Alternative Current and Twirling Silver are.

Against Other Heroes Top

ADAGIO (4/5)

Adagio is a tough target, not the hardest but he will give you a hard time though.

  • Keep your distance from him. Of course, he's a ranged character but he's a monster if you stay close.
  • If you can avoid his Gift of Fire ability's slow, you can win this duel.

GLAIVE (3/5)

It is not really a 3/5. It's the average between 1/5 and 5/5.

  • Glaive can kill you in an instant if he catches you. But if his Afterburn is on Cooldown, you can kite him until his death with ease.
  • Always wait for him to use his Afterburn.
  • With Ringo, you should really pay attention to him as a Crystal Glaive can kill you in a single combo. You have more room for mistakes against a Weapon's one.

Unfortunately, Glaive has the biggest health amount. He's most likely to be the last target.

CATHERINE (5/5)

Your living nightmare. A Merciless PURSUIT] and your HP is cut down by a half. [[Stormguard and you can't do anything over than suicide. Your Achilles Shot is a good resource as well as your mobility. Always wait for her Stormguard to disappear and focus her.

  • If she's far from you and target you with Merciless Pursuit, you have time to slow her with your Achilles Shot, then just disappear.
  • She's a really tanky unit. Last target.

KOSHKA (4/5)

The nightmare of all squishy things. She's the biggest threat against you. Two gap closers, a movement speed bonus. She can stick to you all day long. And she hurts. Kiting her is hard as she can always gap close you and her Heroic Perk is a real pain.

  • BUT she is as weak and squishy as you are. Outdamage her. Avoid her second skill (she will most likely use it after her pounce). Reflex Block her ultimate.
  • Fortunately, she is not that played and people playing her do not play her to her full potential. If you're against a skilled one, pray for your teammates to help you.
  • AVOID HER early game, she's the best early game hero.

PETAL (2.5/5)

She deals more damage than you. Avoid her Spontaneous Combustion ultimate, avoid the face-to-face. You can't kite her, she's ranged too.

  • But she is squishy. Just wait for your teammates and play sneaky with her.

RINGO (?/5)

It is very situational here.

SAW (3/5)

Same as Glaive, it is not a real 3/5 but an average.

  • If you can avoid his Suppressing Fire, keep firing him. If you can't, you will have a hard time...
  • Roadie Run is a real pain. You can't do much against this. As soon as you see him using his first skill, Achilles Shot him right away. He's hard to kite because of this and if he runs to you, he will go slower and it's the perfect time to 1- Fire him til death 2- Avoid the big incoming burst. Situational.

KRUL (1.5/5)

Spectral Smite is a pain. The debuff is too good against you. Avoid melee, avoid staying in front and you can kite him relatively easily.

  • Ringo is Krul's best counter. Just keep your distance. Remember, mobility is the key. Pay attention of the ultimate which is the only real threat.

Other Tips Top

I. Stop using your Hellfire Brew ultimate as a finisher.

It does not work against skilled players. This skill is the best initiator with Catherine's silence. Activate it from a bush and your enemy won't be prepared to Reflex it. Always use it when the enemy is near and does not know you're here. The DoT also greatly helps at the beginning of a team fight and leads you to an advantage over the enemy's team. Remember that it does true damage and that if the enemy stacks shield, it does the same damage as if they did not have any.

You can use it as a finisher but MAKE SURE that all the Reflex Block/Aegis/Crucible effects have been already used. If it's not the case and your enemy escapes, save your ultimate for your next fight, you will keep mana and it will prevent you from returning to base. Plus, the skill won't be on CD for your next encounter and you certainly will be more lucky next time.

And, please, stop using it in the middle of the fight when you're SURE that you can get the kill. It is such a waste, still so many players do this.

II. After killing a troop, under the effects of the dice, immediately hit your enemy.

Do not chase if your enemy is low on health, let him go base, he's wasting precious farming time. If you do, his teammates are certainly waiting in the bush as he certainly ping them.

III. Always wait for your team, you are an Assassin, here to get the kills with sneaky means.

You're too squishy to engage, you should always be behind the others. Play safe.

IV. Use Twirling Silver just after an auto attack.

You will hit two times in a row.

V. As a laner, you have to roam as well.

Once one of your teammates ping, leave your lane and go help. Teamwork pays!

VI. Make sure to always buy Scout Traps and flares

You're vulnerable to ganks more than anyone else.

Thanks for reading, it's been a really long guide and I'm exhausted. English not being my native language, I try my best to be as accurate as I can with the proper words that I search all over the internet.

I hope that this will come in handy. I've put a lot of thoughts here, I am excited to hear the feedbacks.

Feel free to add me in game, my IGN is Lexius. It would be an honour playing with you guys. See you soon!
