About the Author Top

Hello my name is Hardkore, I'm from the Philippines, and I play in the SE Asia server. I love to play with people who have high map awareness, and team play. I have played Vainglory since it was launched and I have to say, it is one of the best things that happened to iOS.

When I'm not playing, most of the time I develop applications for the iOS. Yes, I'm an iOS developer. I also love digital painting and singing. Hehe I do so many things.

I would also like to use this opportunity to connect to a few good players that I have played with in Vainglory.

Wolf Guard, suCoi, Fingercrazy, *******Joker, JayEternity, makky, MonsterMD, NameOen, SummonDeath, waquirazy, Ex19, HotcakeDilata, BrunoMatsing, kof-vs-or, SleepNot, VainGattGlory, Yee, wow so many...

Also the PH prefix/suffix guys... too many of you
Avenger prefix/suffix guys, PowerRanger guys haha

Hardkore's SAW Top

My version of SAW has changed a lot since the beginning I played this game. I started as a Weapon-type, then changed to a Crystal-type, and now I play as a Hybrid.

My current version of SAW can't be defined within a single context. I play different roles as SAW and that's mainly the reason why this is my favourite hero.

Building a complex character like SAW requires you to change your build every now and then depending on factors like:
1. Your teammates heroes and the hero role they prefer to play
2. Your opponents and their roles
3. Item builds of your team and your opponent

My favourite roles are as follows:
1. Assassin - SAW can play like Taka when you go the Dagger route
2. Crowd Controller - this is when you decide to do the Chaingun build
3. Harasser - this is a combination of Assassin + Tension Bow
4. Tank - this happens a little later in the game when you start investing on items like Aegis and Fountain of Renewal
5. Support Damager - when I go farm instead of laning
6. Main Damager - when I invest on either Breaking Point or Sorrowblade
and many more I think...

What I consider when playing as SAW are the following...
1. Sustainability - Halcyon Potion, Energy Battery
2. Speed - Roadie Run, Sprint Boots
3. Damage - Tension Bow, Frostburn
4. Awareness - Flare Gun
5. Defense - Heroic Perk, Suppressing Fire, Reflex Block

When I play against another SAW. I always try to counter his build.

More into my build Top

My SAW relies on 3 core items. Tension Bow, Frostburn/ Eve of Harvest, and Sprint Boots. What do we do with the other 3 slots? Well... it's for Halcyon Potion, Flare Gun and one defensive item, preferably Reflex Block.

Building a fast Tension Bow (TB) or a fast Frostburn (FB)/ Eve of Harvest (EoH) depends a lot on the situation. If you feel you can get away with basic hitting most of your enemies, then build a fast TB. When you feel uncomfortable on the front lines, go FB/EoH.

TB is essential for this build. It's cheap and has tremendous firepower potential in early to mid game phases.

Choose FB if you want more crystal power and wants the added slow effect.

Choose EoH if you want to remove the Halcyon Potion slot and use it for something else.

Fighting another SAW Top

As you might expect, if played incorrectly, you will suffer from the hands of pure weapon and pure crystal SAW's. Most of the time though, by outplaying pure types and turning their weakness against them, I get away with the higher kill-death ratio. I love taking other SAW's to school :)

Again, I always check what they are building and use it against them.

SAW without Energy Battery = always running out of mana = slow SAW
- this type of SAW won't last long. Most weapon builds are like this. Use that to your advantage.

SAW full of weapon items
- go fast FB/EoH. Most SAW's build a Sorrowblade first. Dagger and Chaingun builds can fight this type of SAW toe to toe by using hit and run tactics. Remember to use Roadie Run for positioning and burst damaging. Depending on my mood, I choose either Dagger or Chaingun. Dagger is for burst killing that SAW in the blink of an eye. Chaingun is better if you have more slow enemy targets.

Dagger Route Top

The Dagger route relies on always upgrading your Roadie Run whenever possible. With Heavy Prism (a component of FB), you can quickly burst damage (or even kill) enemy heroes.

Chaingun Route Top

The Chaingun route relies on always upgrading Suppressing Fire. Heavy Prism is still a commodity for this build since you want to add more crystal power.
