2
Skaarf Skaarf is very weak to Krul if you surprise him with Dead Man's Rush. Your ultimate can also seal the fate of Skaarf.
3
Adagio Adagio can buff his teammates and harass you, but his ultimate can be completely avoided if you step outside of the perimeter. If he wastes his ultimate then he is done for, but this may require Journey Boots to run out of the area quickly.
4
Ardan Ardan is particularly hard to kill if he zones you, and his Blood For Blood can do some damage, but other than that, Ardan's protector status leaves himself vulnerable to Krul as a warrior.
4
Ringo Ringo can kite you all day. Just sneak up on him with your ultimate and he's a dead man walking.
4
Glaive Krul was designed to counter Glaive, but he can still kill you if he catches you off guard with Afterburn and its knockback. Glaive can also tear Krul down with the right builds. Just watch your back.
4
Vox Vox is pretty annoying, especially since he can kite and detect you with his pulse. Try to gank him before he detects you.
5
Petal Petal's ultimate can take out a chunk of your health and even kill you. However, she is frail, and will die quickly if you build up Weakness stacks or Dead Man's Rush her.
5
Joule Joule is annoying with her second ability, and can rout you with her Rocket Leap. Her ultimate is fatal if you are caught in the crossfire for too long.
5
Celeste Celeste is the queen of poking and harassing. Core Collapse and her ultimate are both troublesome. Try to get in, get the kill, and get out when ganking.
6
Koshka Koshka is only dangerous because she is squishy and can cut your health down very quickly. Try to have a teammate with you when taking her down.
6
Krul Most with Krul know what they are doing. Just watch your back if there is one on the other team.
7
SAW SAW is somewhat dangerous if left unchecked. His ultimate can damage you more than your lifesteal, but SAW becomes a golden opportunity if he misfires Suppressing Fire.
8
  No Threat
9
Catherine Catherine is deadly to Krul no matter what you do. Her stun can leave you a sitting duck, and you can't exactly counter with your ultimate. Leave it up to your friends to handle her in teamfights.
10
Taka Taka is an extreme hazard. His abilities and lifesteal give you already slim chances of beating him 1v1, but with the right build he can demolish you with little to no health loss. Avoid him at all costs unless he is below 25% health, but even then, he can kill you if you aren't careful.

Early Game Top

In early game, you need to focus on level grinding as much as possible. Ironguard Contract, Sprint Boots, and Crystal Bit are good starting items. Upgrade Spectral Smite at Level 1, then follow the ability path on this guide. Once you garner enough gold, buy Travel Boots and Eclipse Prism. You'll want to get either Heavy Prism or Void Battery to build to Frostburn or Clockwork, whichever one you want first. If you play Krul right, you'll have a steady income from jungle camps and can get both by mid-game.

Mid-Game and Supporting Allies in Lane Top

You should have Ironguard Contract, Sprint Boots, and Frostburn or Clockwork, maybe both. If you're lucky, you can even build to Aftershock before the end of midgame.

At Level 6, you may consider helping out your allies in lane or capture important objectives. Your abilities should be 2/5 Dead Man's Rush, 3/5 Spectral Smite, and 1/3 From Hell's Heart.

If you do not know what ganking is, it is simply waiting in the bushes surrounding the lane, then jumping out to surprise your enemies.

--Ganking with Krul--

Step 1: Reach Level 6 with the ability path, as aforementioned.

Step 2: Find an enemy hero with low health, low energy, or both. If there is a hero newly arriving, let your ally in lane weaken the hero before ganking.

Step 3: Wait a few seconds for your heroic perk, Shadows Empower Me, to fill up. This is measured by a gauge at the bottom left corner of the screen. Shadows Empower Me increases your movement speed and slow to enemy heroes through basic attacks, which will help to kill enemies quickly and retreat.

Step 4: Unleash your wrath! Stunning the hero with your ultimate is a good tactic, as it will also take a chunk of their health from them. Dead Man's Rush your enemy, the deal the killing blow with Spectral Smite.

Abilities and Overdrive Bonuses Top

For those who don't know, Overdrive is a bonus when an ability is upgraded to 5/5 points, which increases the effectiveness of that ability. Ultimate abilities cannot gain overdrive. Krul's ability overdrive for Dead Man's Rush is cooldown acceleration (lesser cooldown) and a larger health barrier when activated. The Spectral Smite overdrive is cooldown acceleration and more lifesteal. Almost all Krul players, including SEMC itself in the Krul Hero Spotlight, recommend taking the overdrive of both abilities instead of From Hell's Heart's final rank.

Endgame and Kraken Top

By endgame, you should sell your Ironguard Contract to make room for your build. Your final build should be Aftershock, Frostburn, Eve of Harvest, Shatterglass, Clockwork, and Journey Boots. Income will be dependent on how aggressive you are towards enemy heroes, but in the end, these items will make Krul a nightmare on the battlefield.

Krul is a one-man army on his own, but is made more so by this build. He can take on the Kraken by himself and capture it without assistance from ally heroes.

Tips and Tricks Top

If the enemy team pushes into your base by capturing the Kraken, get out of your base as quickly as possible, then hide in the bushes surrounding the lane. You can use your Shadows Empower Me to dash between bushes to sneak up on the enemy base.

This surprise tactic only works if the enemy base has been weakened (with one turret or two with one at low health).

This trick will work 9/10 times mostly because the enemy team is almost guaranteed to escort the Kraken and protect it with their whole team.

You'll want to stealthily creep into their base and take out their turrets. Then, go for their Vain Crystal, and before they know it, your team will have won the match.

This has been proven to work, as I have pulled this off in two separate public matches.

Closing Remarks. Top

I hope this guide can increase your ability to play with Krul, and increase your enjoyment playing him. If you use this guide, you can become strong and a force to be reckoned with. If this is used against you...well, have a good time being DESTROYED. This is only my second build guide on VaingloryFire, but the research backs this one up very solidly.
