Introduction Top

Hey everyone! I've been a Vainglory player for a few months now and I've just been having the best time playing this game. I also stream as often as I can as TheDougalbug so if you recognise the name welcome back!

This is my first attempt at doing one of these guides and I want to add to it as I go so bear with me!

I wanted to make this since I've had some success with Phinn and figured not everyone will own him yet so for all those that are considering the purchase it might be a place to start looking!

I am by no means an expert player but this is simply a catalogue of my observations having played the character with a positive win/loss rate.

Chapter 1 - Abilties Top

I want to talk a little about Phinn's abilities and when he is at his best.

Quibble - Is an incredible ability and one that trust me, you want to overdrive. If you can land this in a team fight you can stun their entire team. Opening up the enemy to be steamrollered. If you miss its cooldown isn't even that long, short enough to be used at the start and the end of a fight! I use this after i've used Polite Company for maximum impact, overdrive this second.

Polite Company - Is your bread and butter as a support character, use it often and use it wisely. From the games i've played once you're fully kitted out with your shop items you will buff your team mates enough to clinch almost any team fight. Not only that but you can use it along with Quibble to really stick enemies in place.

Forced Accord - Is quite simply, the most fun you can ever have in VG. Combined with the Polite Company into Quibble combo this can devastate entire teams, stop enemies from running away, take them out of a crucial fight, or sacrifice yourself to save your other teammates. Not necessary to overdrive but so, so impressive.

Now of course all of this depends on your team comp. I've discovered some real surprising combos, and some not surprising ones...

Chapter 2 - Complimentary Team mates Top

Rona - The combination that comes from super high damage, quick attack speed and slowing enemies down is devastating. Try pulling enemies in, stunning them and then using Rona's Red Mist to finish em off.

Celeste - Again the ability to pull enemies into waiting stars is incredible, also - two stuns!

SAW - Both of you are slow, Saw deals the damage, Phinn keeps them still.

Catherine - More stuns!

Glaive - Between you both you have 3 abilities that can control position, need I say more?

These are just the start, this list will grow.

Chapter 3 - Items Top

The thing about Phinn is he is slow, we all know that, for that reason, your first purchase is Sprint Boots.

No questions, no excuses, get them.

The next thing I do is build towards Warhorn, for a few reasons:
    - Getting there gives you health, and a fair amount of it.
    - Allows you bonus speed, and your team mates too!
    - Gets you bonus gold so you can spend it on shiny things!
    - Kill minions and turrets easier!

Next build towards Fountain of Renewal for obvious reasons: More health, more armour and heals your team mates! (getting the idea?)

After that you want an armour item so keep an eye on what your enemies are building. If they build weapon get the Coat of Plates, if they build crystal get Kinetic Shield.

Now that we can take a hit (several in fact) lets get some power on that stun of yours huh? Eve of Harvest is a great item, keeps you alive and adds some real nice damage to your abilities. All you need after that is either another health item if you find you need it but I would normally go for Frostburn to once again stick enemies and for more damage.

Chapter 4 - more to follow Top

Thank you so much for reading this guide, I hope to add to it. Please feel free to give me feedback and let me know what you'd like to see that I can comment on!
