Intro Top

With this guide I want to help you to understand how to support. Allot of people say that the carries are allot more important than the support but without support a vainglorious carry cant do much. So in this guide I want to explain why some supports are better than others, who you should focus and what you should build.

First of: DONT GO FOR WARHORN FIRST! This is the main thought behind this guide. My rank is Simply Amazing Bronze and even there you see allot of people doing this. Why this isnt good? Easy: With that move you create a situation that will make you running away when your team is low. But VG isnt about running away! It is about getting kills. So instead of going for Warhorn first go for a Fountain of Renewal, Crucible or Atlas Pauldron. And with these 3 items Fountain should be standard unless you have an enemy who should be countered with one of the other 2 items.
The Fountain is such a good items because it will give your team the chance to stay in the fight and possible get some kills. Or if you still have to retreat you arent the fastest but you have more health to do that, so about the same effect.

Another thing: Dont go for a contraption: You can get 51 Scout Traps OR 102 Flare for the price of the contraptions! So that is not worth it!

Beginning of the game Top

At the beginning of the game you want to go for the Ironguard Contract.
With the Ironguard Contract you, as the one with the item, get 50% of the gold your jungler or 30% of the gold your laner gets. You get that for only being close to them/helping them to kill the minions BUT: If you get hit by the minion and one of your teammates last hits the minion he will also get extra 25% gold.
So if you attack first and your jungler then finishes of the minion you will together get 175% of the gold the minion itself gave. This is of course what you want to go for.
Another good effect is, that you get healed if you clear the jungle with your mate like written above. This means you two save money by not purchasing Halcyon Potions.

Focus - Who is the most important player to kill? Top

So lets say we have the following situation:
A 3v3 fight begins and your team of course should focus only one single target to quickly kill one enemy. But who should be the focus?
The first thing is easy: DONT go for the SUPPORT! He does the least damage and will survive way to long!
So 2 players left to choose:
You can go by the threat level at the top of the guide! Try to quickly kill Taka or Krul. They are strong and are good survivors!
If you have very squishy/slow enemy? (Squishy means with not much health, like Celeste or Ringo) Go for that player. They can deal allot of damage but die pretty fast. But if they stay too far away and you cant close the distance dont waste time on them and try to focus down the last remaining player. That would probably be the jungler, so Koshka, Joule etc.

Counter Weapon Power (WP) & Crystal Power (CP) Top

Weapon Power:
This is most of the time pretty easy: Go for an Atlas Pauldron. This is an item you can activate and when you activate it while being close to enemies you will reduce their attack speed by 65% (but not lower than base attack speed) and you will also put their Breaking Point stacks to 0 again.

Crystal Power:
Against people with allot of crystal power, you, as the support, should never go for an Aegis! The aegis is something to help yourself but you have to help your team! (This is why you also shouldnt go for Metal Jacket as support to counter WP) Instead of that you go for a Crucible or a fountain of renewel. And to choose between those think about this: Crucible has to be activated to block an attack, so you have to see witch enemies you have on crystal. Some abilities are easy and some are hard to counter with Crucible. For example Ringos ultimate is pretty slow and you can easily time your crucible pop. Same for example for Catherines, Joules and Voxs ult etc. For others like Celestes solar storm it is harder to block because the stars are very fast, same for Glaive or and Taka etc.

Scout Traps Top

You always want to put allot of mines down to gain vision about the enemy team and the map! This is very important because you can prevent ganks, see when you can an enemy minion camp or when they are shopping. Instead of writing down all the spots I have a video that EpicGeekery has created to help out with that:
