About Baron Top

Baron's kit is very unique, and varies greatly depending on the build, CP vs. WP. After practicing with both build paths extensively, I have begun to prefer the WP route.

Baron's B ability changes most drastically depending on the build. With CP, Baron is able to jump insane distances, which allows a fairly reliable escape route. There is a delay prior to jumping, which allows opponents to stun Baron out of this jump. Baron can even jump from Kraken to the lane and vice versa.

With WP, the range of the B ability does not change, however the delay shortens until the player reaches 200 WP, at which point the delay is fully removed.

The A ability also changes slightly. By increasing WP, the slow caused by landing an A ability increases up to 65%, rather than the normal 35%. This slow is very useful in chasing and keeping enemies close to each other to effectively utilize auto attacks and the heroic perk.

The B ability is WP Baron's saving grace. When the jump is used, the following Auto Attacks are shot rapidly, and the second shot will follow an opponent out of range. This, along with an instant jump allows players to auto attack, jump towards an opponent and launch two more powerful auto attacks at the target.

One final thing to note about WP Baron is the Heroic Perk, which allows Baron to be so successful. Because each auto attack explodes on impact, damage is distributed to all enemies in the vicinity. This does not include on-hit effects like Tension Bow. This allows Baron to heavily damage multiple enemies at once.

Build Explanation Top

WP Baron is a slow starter, so do not expect to control the lane with insane damage. Baron excels at poking consistently and then diving deep into the battle at the opportune moment. As such, a Breaking Point is an excellent choice for this character. You are able to stay on the outskirts of a fight fairly easily, poking and building up stacks. Once you have 10+ BP Stacks, use the B ability to jump within range of a squishy enemy and send out two high damage shots. Rinse and Repeat. Baron is especially effective at chasing enemies, as his jump can bring him within range, and his shots can damage any enemies in the area.

Serpents mask is an interesting choice, however I have found that is can be incredibly effective. Not only does it provide additional Weapon power, but the life-steal is game changing. In a team fight setting where each auto attack is damaging up to three enemies, SM will keep your health high as you build up stacks and prepare to full engage.

Sorrowblade is a standard weapon item, and purchasing it allows you to reach the 200 WP cap that allows you to jump instantaneously upon activation. This allows you to dodge stuns, chase more effectively and put out more damage over the course of a team fight.

Halcyon Chargers may seem like an odd choice, but after playing one or two matches with Baron it will become much more obvious as to why they are preferred. The energy usage on Baron is ridiculous, especially if you are actively utilizing Baron's A ability. His A is very spammable and slows opponents, which can be useful. By purchasing Halcyon chargers, you receive cool down and extra energy, which allows you to use your ability effectively throughout an entire team fight.
