Intro - Godlike WP Bomber Kestrel Top

Hello and thank you for visiting my guide on the hero Kestrel Kestrel.

Kestrel is a squishy hero that, when used correctly, can devastate entire teams and make plays worthy of a VGL Highlight Reel.

Success with Kestrel depends on your items and awareness of the battlefield. Additionally, you need to practice with Kestrel for multiple games to fully understand her mechanics (abilities, movement, attack speed).

By following this guide, you will learn the basics of Kestrel, as well as how to utilize her abilities and strengths to dominate the Halcyon Fold.

What Makes WP Kestrel Godlike Top

Kestrel's abilities have different effects depending on if the player goes WP or CP.

WP Kestrel's saving grace is her Active Camo. By increasing WP, Kestrel is able to stealth while in combat. This leaves a mist behind that can detonate heavily if an enemy hero is attacked while standing in the mist.

WP Kestrel is able to auto attack heavy damage on squishy heroes. When an enemy engages on Kestrel, she is able to stealth out, walk one step away, and blast the hero(s) with glimmershot/mist explosion that can devastate entire teams.

Additionally, her stealth ability often forces enemies to focus on heroes that are visible, taking the attention off of Kestrel so she can continue to dish out heavy damages.

Starting off - Farming, Farming, Farming Top

You should start off in the lane as Kestrel. She is a viable jungler, however this build will focus on obtaining lots of gold quickly in order to gain an advantage and hold onto it throughout the game.

Purchase a Book of Eulogies and two potions, and head into the lane. The book is necessary to keep your health up as you take out minion after minion.

Kestrel's heroic perk includes a slow vamp up of attack speed, which allows you to farm very effectively, even against a hero like Saw. Laning takes lots of practice in general, so don't lose hope if you are being harassed and beaten in the lane. With time, you will learn to stay safe and bring in the money.

Be careful about venturing into the jungle to assist your teammates. If you are easily able to rotate down and kill the enemy junglers, do your worst. However, it is much better to continue farming rather than wasting time in the jungle.

Farm up as consistently as possible, and only head to the jungle shop when your teammmates are there as well. Otherwise, simply home port and purchase your next items.

Early-Mid Game - Getting Ready Top

As a Weapon Power Kestrel, we will be focusing on Kestrels auto attacks, glimmershots and active camo explosions. Kestrel's Ult is also effective with WP as a finisher or initiator.

When you visit the shop for the first time, purchase boots, a swift shooter, and start working towards a Sorrow Blade. If you have farmed extensively and are able to purchase a Sorrow blade and Heavy steel right out, do so.

By having a Sorrow Blade + Heavy Steel, you are able to use active camo while in combat with enemy heroes.

You will then upgrade the Swift Shooter into a Blazing Salvo, and purchase one defensive item based on the hero that has the highest potential for damage on you.

Mid-Game - The Damages Top

By Mid game, you should have boots, a Blazing Salvo, a Sorrow Blade, a Heavy Steel and some sort of defensive item.

This setup will allow you to be aggressive in lane, as you can push minions and if you see an enemy rushing/get ganked, you can immediately go invisible, shoot a glimmershot or regular arrow, and detonate/stun your foes.

The next step will be increasing your damage, while still being slippery/stealthy.

Start working towards a Tyrants Monacle. This item will increase your auto attack damage and allow your Glimmershots to Critically strike more often. A mist explosion + crit Glimmershot = Dead Ringo

Once you complete a tyrants monacle, build a t3 defensive item and obtain t2 boots.

Late Game - Domination Top

Come Late Game, if you have been farming effectively, you should have enough funds to have nearly the full build. Once you have completed a Sorrowblade, Tyrants, t2 boots and t3 Defensive item, it is time to obtain the Breaking point.

This item will offer increased attack speed and allow your damage to increase over time. As a slippery kestrel, you are able to put in the damages and disappear, only to re-appear under the enemies nose with a glimmershot. Additionally, if you are able to pull off a mist shot with breaking point, your BP stacks will fly up.

With 20 Breaking point stacks, any hero that comes within range will have their health cut in half. If they dare attack you, they will receive a bomb to the face that will end the game in your favor.

With a BP obtained, work towards your second Defensive item. This will allow you to stay alive as you slay your enemies.

Remember to infuse consistently after 19 minutes, as dying could lead to an Ace/Loss.

Wrapping Up - Things to Remember Top

It is possible/likely that you will be the main focus of your enemies. The worst thing for a WP kestrel is to be stunned. As such, if you are facing a team that has consistent stuns (Catherine, Joule, Celeste), strongly consider purchasing a reflex block earlier than later. Blocking stuns is the key to success, as one successful block can lead to a mist/explosion that turns the fight in your favor.

When laning, learn to work with your turret. If the enemy is pushing hard, allow your turret to nearly kill the minion so you can grab the last hit. Once you learn the mechanics (which minion the turret will attack, damage), you will be able to stand with your turret and farm effectively. Use this technique if you are against a SAW or another aggressive laner.

Have Fun! There are games that will not go in your favor. WP Kestrel is so strong against melee heroes, however ranged heroes have a much easier time as they are safer from mist bombs. So, if you are facing a tough range based team, don't worry if you lose the game. Losing leads to learning leads to winning.

I hope you enjoyed this guide! Please provide me with feedback so I can improve my guides in the future.
