Backstory: Top

I used to play Catherine a lot back in the day. Gave up on her as other Roamers just kind of felt better. Then SEMC made a ton of items with CDA. And now you have this. I am currently a hotness-SA player and I play this build with decent success and a lot of enjoyment out of it regardless. It is actually not just a troll build that doesn't work.

Build notes Top

Don't plan on making this too wordy. It' a build made for fun. I highly recommend getting Aftershock first as it has great early game damage, but if you need to play safe, get Contraption so your not face checking bushes as Catherine is pretty squishy early game with this build. Or if against Taka or any other stealth jungle/ roam comp, rush contraption always then. The reason I rec0mmend getting Aftershock at least as one of the first two items is that it allows you to get a good damage spike for you to not be ignored, as well as it becoming more and more useful as you build more CDA.

Brief Math Analysis to Prove Build's Value: Top

TL;DR - Your abilities have the following cooldowns with this late game build and crystal infusion:

Merciless Pursuit - Barely above 5 seconds
Stormguard - Below 1.5 seconds
Blast Tremor - 30 seconds
Enjoy watching the world burn.

If you didn't know how Vaiglory's cooldown acceleration is different from most games cooldown reduction, imagine it like this:

Say that there is a ability with an 10 second cooldown. If you have 50% cooldown acceleration (CDA), that means that instead of getting 50% of 10 seconds cut off, you increase the time the seconds go by.

This means that for every 1 normal second without CDA, 1.5 seconds go by with 50% CDA. From there you count up in 1.5 second increments till you get to 10.

1.5 - 3 - 4.5 - 6 - 7.5 - 9 - 10.5
1 2 3 4 5 6 7

Means that with 50% CDA, an ability that normally takes 10 seconds to wait for only takes somewhere between 6-7 seconds. (I am honestly way too lazy to figure out the exact time).

It doesn't matter that CDR is technically better then CDA, its just the way the math works. Bottom line is that you can get over 100% CDA and you will still get value from buying cooldown items.

So - with a final build you will have 150% CDA (186% with infusion). This means that your B ability (which pretty much gives you invulnerability while active and combined with fountain) will be below a 1.5 second cooldown. (Lower than your stun duration may I add) You're A ability will be just above a 5 second cooldown. And your non- maxed ultimate will be just below a 30 second cooldown. Doesn't this sound terrifying? Hope you have as much fun as I do with this build.
