Introduction Top

Adagio is a definite powerhouse hero. He uses Gift of Fire to heal himself/ally and throw fire on nearby enemies, slowing them down and giving him time to flee or start an onslaught of attacks while the enemy is vulnerable. He uses Agent of Wrath to increase the damage of his/ally's basic attacks, doubling the health taken. His ultimate ability, Verse of Judgement, charges for 1.5 seconds before dealing devastating damage to anything in it's range, which is shown by a ring surrounding him.

Adagio's basic attacks aren't very strong when starting out, most likely because he is designed to be a protector. These builds are mainly weapon/tank builds so that Adagio can protect himself without having to stand back in battles (which, however, is still a good idea in team fights) and complete quick kills and flee speedily as though it had never even happened.

With these builds, I see Adagio as being the whole package and (almost) indestrutible.

Pros

Adagio is a ranged attacker, meaning he is extremely useful in team battles OR in the lane.
His abilities can be used on himself OR allies, making him an ideal protector in team battles or in the lane.
Relatively good move speed, can be extremely fast and sneaky with a pair of boots, ideally Journey Boots.
 Very gold-independent.
 Good bait in an ambush.

Cons

Can be weak in 1v1 battles.
Not good at laning alone until late game.
Weak against characters with stun or silence.
Adagio's ultimate can easily be countered with a stun, silence or damage.
Can be weak against other ranged attackers (e.g. Petal, SAW).

General Strategy Top

Laning

ALWAYS start in the jungle unless you are defending a teammate who is starting in lane (which you shouldn't need to do). Adagio is vulnerable if he starts in the lane with this build. Starting in the jungle and killing monsters and miners will earn you a lot of gold which can be used to level quickly and build your Adagio.

If both of your teammates are melee attackers (e.g. Taka, Koshka) and you're confident, start as a laner. Be careful if there is a Saw on the enemy team- Saw will destroy Adagio within seconds.

Jungling

Start by killing the monster that gives you health. Then go on to killing the two monsters. Continue the pattern however you like. When you're level 1, don't use your Gift of Fire on the first health monster. Kill it, let the lost health (which should be a little less than half of the bar) regenerate and then use Gift of Fire on the two twin monsters. Preserve as much energy as possible in the jungle or else you will need to teleport back home after every kill, which is time wasted.

This isn't Adagio-specific, just common courtesy. If one of your teammates is jungling as well as you, DO NOT join in on killing the same monster that they are UNLESS it's the gold miner or one of the minion miners. If a teammate reaches a monster and has started fighting it before you, move on to the next one.

When jungling or just moving around the map in general, try to sneak around the bushes as much as possible. Don't wander out in the open unless you have to. Unless they are fighting a monster or minion, you don't know where the enemy is and if you walk into them in the jungle, it could startle you both. It's better and easier to stalk in the bushes, spot an enemy fighting and then pounce when they're low on health. It's best to jump out when the monster is still alive, so they are being attacked by two enemies at once.

Always be careful of an ambush. A common strategy is to have one teammate killing a monster (which is usually a minion mine) to lure an enemy jungler in. When the enemy jungler goes in for the attack, the other teammates jump out from the bushes and ambush the enemy. Another strategy is, when you're being destroyed by an enemy and you're aware that one of your teammates is close by, lead the enemy to them and ambush them. Don't let these happen to you- but do attempt to use them on the enemy junglers.

Summary of Build #1 Items Top

Serpent Mask: The lifesteal combined with Adagio's Gift of Fire can make his health almost unlimited.
Sorrowblade: The basic damage is devastating to enemy players.
Journey Boots: Useful for sneaking/fleeing in the jungle and in general.
Crucible: The added health is an ideal bonus for Adagio. When activated, reflex block is triggered, meaning Adagio can perform his ultimate without interruption if the time calls for it.
Tornado Trigger: The quick attack speed can kill enemies within seconds. The critical chance & damage + thr basic damage Adagio already has with the Serpent Mask and Sorrowblade is a devastating mix.
Eve of Harvest: Again, lifesteal makes his health very close to unlimited. The max energy + energy recharge means that Adagio can use his abilities almost constantly without worrying about the energy bar. The added crystal power makes his abilities devastating.

Summary of Build #2 Items Top

Sorrowblade: The basic attack damage is devastating to enemy players.
Tornado Trigger: The quick attack speed and critical chance + damage creates a brutal onslaught of attacks.
Crucible: The high health combined with his speedy attacks makes Adagio almost unbeatable. When activated, reflex block is triggered, meaning Adagio can perform his ultimate without counter.
Journey Boots: Adagio can sneak through the jungle quickly and efficiently and the sprint when activated is ideal when he needs to flee or get to a location quickly.
Eve of Harvest: The lifesteal only adds to his high health. The max energy + energy recharge means that Adagio can use his abilities whenever he wants without worrying about the energy bar. The added crystal power makes his abilities devastating when performed.

Extra Slot Items

Scout Trap: Up to 5 can be bought in one slot. They are perfect for placing in the jungle or even around your team's Vain if you're losing.
Halcyon Potion: This wouldn't be my first choice for the extra slot, but it's useful if there's a naturally strong/fast attacker on the enemy team (e.g. Saw).
Flare Gun: This is definitely useful if you're trying to farm in the jungle and you want to check where the enemy is so you can farm safely.
Clockwork: If you want to use your abilities almost constantly, build Clockwork for the extra slot. It reduces the cooldown of your abilities and, when combined with Eve of Harvest, you can attack ruthlessly using your abilities.
Eclipse Prism: Good for increasing the strength of your abilities.
Coat of Plates: If you want more security and defense, use this. The enemy's basic attacks will barely affect you.

Conclusion Top

Thank you for reading my guide! I know my descriptions aren't very good and my guide doesn't have much content, but please bear with me as I'm still learning about coding and gamer-language.

Let me know if you use this build and it ends up working out, I'd love to hear people's experiences!

Again, cheers for reading, please give me an upvote if you like this!
