Ardan Ardan's Vanguard doesn't shield him enough to really affect you, but the slow can let him escape. If he uses Blood for Blood on you, you can use Malice & Verdict while running away, so he can't do much damage. His Gauntlet can be dangerous if the whole enemy team is there, but your empowered Malice & Verdict can usually damage them enough for your teammates to get some kills. I recommend building Frostburn against Ardan so he won't be able to escape.

Celeste Samuel can move away from all of Celeste's Core Collapse and formed stars while using Malice & Verdict. This will reduce a lot of her damage output. Her health and defense is usually low enough to kill her quickly.

Petal Petal's munions are able to block Samuel's Malice & Vercit. However, they also heal Samuel while they are inside of his Drifting Dark. His empowered Malice & Verdict is able to kill all of the munions, allowing Petal to be hit by the next few shots. I recommend building Clockwork against Petal so you can kill her munions with your Drifting Dark + Malice & Verdict more often.

Phinn Phinn has too much health and defense to be killed quickly. If any of his abilities hit you, usually the enemy team will take the opportunity to kill you. Unstoppable will make it so your Oblivion won't sleep him.

Glaive Glaive's Afterburn can hit you out of his Drifting Dark, making Malice & Verdict weaker and not letting you heal. If you gets knocked into the enemy team, you will usually die if you don't use Oblivion quickly enough. Glaive can also kill you before you has enough time to do lots of damage. Try to stay back until you see Glaive use Afterburn, then kill him before he can use it again.

Alpha Alpha can get to you very quickly, and does a lot of damage. Her Infinite Reboot and Termination Protocol make her very hard to kill before you are killed. Try to stay back until she uses her Prime Directive. I recommend building a Fountain of Renewal and an Aegis or a Metal Jacket, depending on her build.

About Samuel Top

Samuel is a Mage who can do huge amounts of damage to multiple enemies at the same time. He also has decent health and energy sustain thanks to his Corrupted Genius and Drifting Dark. Samuel is very good with turning around losing teamfights with Oblivion.
In my opinion, Samuel is a very fun hero to play.

Abilities and Tips Top

Every 6 seconds, Samuel's next basic attack will do bonus crystal damage, scaling with crystal power, and restore health and energy, scaling with level. The restoration is reduced against non-heroes.
Don't forget to use this whenever you can, since it does decent damage and will help you survive. Try to use it against heroes if it is safe to do so.

Samuel shoots two shots towards a location. He is able to move while casting this. The shots do crystal damage to the first enemy hit. If you start casting this while in your Drifting Dark field, the range and damage of the shots are increases. They will also do more damage, and in an area. Additionally, the cooldown is reduced.
This is your main damage ability. It shoots towards a chosen point, not in a direction, so you can move around the target, and it will still shoot to the same spot. If you want to hit a certain spot, use it near the edge of the targeting circle. If you want to be able to aim it, use it near the center of the targeting circle. By doing this, moving a small distance around the point will change the shot's angle by a lot.

Samuel creates a large field that slowly moves in the direction chosen. It damages all enemies inside of it. If Samuel is inside of the field, he heals a small amount for each enemy that is also inside the field. Casting this ability will immediately reduce the cooldown of Malice & Verdict to 0s.
This ability is mainly used when you need to heal, there is a large group of enemies, or you are trying to kill an enemy. Be careful of using this ability to heal early in the game since it has a long cooldown. Since casting Malice & Verdict inside the field causes the shots to do increased AoE damage, it can be used to clear minion waves or damage multiple enemy heroes. Don't always cast this towards the enemy heroes. For example, if you are running away, cast it in the direction you are running. This will keep you and the enemy hero inside the field for a longer period of time.

After a short delay, Samuel creates a field that puts all enemies inside of it to sleep and damages them. Sleeping enemies are unable to do anything. However, damaging them will cause them to wake up.
This is very useful when trying to escape or teamfighting. Try to only damage one enemy at a time, so the others don't wake up.
