These builds look normal, very effective and definitely meta, but i don't really think you can do much for your team as Captain Taka. He doesn't have any CC in his kit at all, the only thing he really can do to benefit his team is apply mortal wound. It's very innovative, no doubt about it, but just trying to give my opinion.
Thank you for your feedback, as the title says I was at one point trying to update this to 3.3, and obviously that is a long gone effort.
However, you do raise good points without the usual "u suk, git gud" I normally see and I honestly apprreciate seeing someone who can make a point without that mess. Yeah, Captain Taka is more for fun test or display of skill than a really effective build path. Expoect everything here to be scrapped soon though as the meta has long shiftged and my guide revolves around VG patch 2.5 or something like tat.
Yes! A WP Taka lover, thank the heavens. Sooo I have one question for you, in my usual builds I tend to rush Sorrowblade and literally never build TB. As for why, 1)You benefit more from raw weapon power and SB does more in my kiting playstyle. 2)Your passive doesn't appear to benefit much from TB. I'm just wondering what your thoughts on this were. I've played Taka since before Fortress was released and only played him CP like 3 times. Thx!
Ah, I see you are a fellow WP Taka lover as well. Your guide is uber long but it is very detailed and I did not even knew about some tactics! Though most of them, I always do but I thought I was just playing regularly, while those are actually "takatics". I am quite pleased. Our playstyles differ but I see why you use such playstyle as you succeeded in explaining completely! Nice!. Please also do check out my Taka guide because I would like to know how a pro Taka player rate my guide! Hope to see your comment in my guide soon.
This build is AWESOME. Havnt seen a good updated Taka build in a while. I love to play wp Taka but everyone says it sucks. This build proves them wrong. Although there is no bp I can realize why cuz it's only good for early game and damage will fall off late game so it a dead weapon @Slint***asnNinja
Hmm...
Tension Bow is for burst, and the armor pierce.
Breaking Point is for prolonged engagements where you are the main center of attention and are usually snowballing.
This let's you build up stacks.
TB let's you do hit and run and also have enough damage and pierce to fight if you need to switch targets.
Hey m8, awesome guide, I love taka as well. I love building carries with no defense, and I've even been successful with a full wp vox (best was 17/1). But I couldn't really do it with taka, Any advice?
Hey, i just read your guide, actually i prefer sniper but idk i am interested to play with taka and be pro with that. And one question for you, wp taka or cp taka that very effective for newbie like me. My username id is Neroxe btw if u want to play together :D
I don't know if I'm weird but I am only good with WP Taka that has Alternating Current as the only CP item. I simply stealth and kill in 3 sec. With CP, but X-retsu does not deal enough damage until I am tanked out of my skill by reflex block and then my basic attack feels like nothing. Just my opinion, I hope you do not underestimate WP Taka as WP Taka's basic attack hurt as much as Kestrel's Glimmershot or Petal's munion explosion ULT.
I really enjoyed this guide. I have a few questions. The first is whether BP and BNSW prevent the TB fall off late game when enemies build armor (making SB the better choice maybe) and the second is whether BNSW is worth it if the enemy doesnt buy any armor?
Late game, SB is far more helpful.
TB in Early and Mid game allows you to dominate, however, if you have a full build (late game) sell the Tension Bow and get SB for sure.
I redid some parts of the guide also, they cover more topics.
But if enemies don't buy armor, just take a different WP item, like a Tyrant's Monocle, or a Sorrowblade.
Sometimes I prefer a Breaking Point, a Toranado Trigger and a Tyrant's Monocle over my build, especially in casual matches and the like.
I mean it's a 60% Crit Chance and you have Breaking Point Passive.
Bonesaw is just really helpful since it actually shreds the target's armor, not only for you, but for everyone on your team.
That is why some Roamers have it in their default Reccomended Builds.
Thank you for the reply. I had one more Q about the CP build. I am looking to try with a AC. I normally go SG, BM and Clock (For energy sustain). With AC does that allow you to play him more WP like and less focused on just his ability to burst?
BTW the weapon power build going with defense first is awesome and has worked out well for me esp early game. I am now not afraid to engage early if needed.
Thank you!
Your combo of SG, BM, and Clock is very good.
It's a core part of many Taka builds. AC lets you deal consistent CP damage.
It also makes you way more reliant on Taka's Basic Attacks as well as his House Kamuha perk.
Personally, I rarely grab a Clock and instead go with an Eve of Harvest. It gives you more CP (55 I think), 10% SpellSteal and a 25% SpellSteal Passive, along with Extra Energy and Energy Regen. (SpellSteal is Crystal Lifesteal. I just call it Spell Steal because it's way easier.)
Taka's perk also reduces his CDR which is another reason why I don't always grab a Clock. As long as you can keep 5 Ki Stacks, you're generally good on CDR. AC Lets you hit faster and gives you 60 extra CP. By itself you do 60 * 0.7 CP every other Hit. That's about 42 Crystal Damage.
Add in a BM and its passive and you get the idea.
You can also switch out the Aftershock, but I really don't reccomend that, since Roamers always have high amounts of health, and you can always benefit from the small Energy Regen and 25% CDR.
Keeping in mind that Taka, with an Overdrive Kaiten, doesn't need any energy, it lets you deal huge amounts of damage to Roamers and Turrets since it still lets you proc ASHK.
PS: ASHK also lets you farm faster, and so does AC.
Yes, you replace Alternating Current.
Honestly, I don't normally play CP Taka as often as WP, it's just my preference.
But most of the time, I have to get Eve as a 4th CP item and then one Defense, which is usually Aegis.
I say I have to get Eve as a 4th item, since to me, CP Taka's play style doesn't really sit well with me, since I'm really used to Basic Attacking everything instead of mainly using abilities.
Same here, if i have to go cp jungle i usually just use koshka so i have more hero diversity with what i have atm. Also i am to used to auto attacking as well that CP is not my pref.
Yeah, Taka is more of a one trick pony when he is CP.
And when that one trick doesn't seem to work, well, you lose already.
(Unless there is one heck of a carry on your team.)
Koshka is far better in comparison. (CP-wise)
Taka just escapes better.
When you look at him When he goes CP, it's nearly funny how he looks like a second rate Koshka.
His perk gives him max 125% CDR and a burst of speed.
Koshka has -1 second CD per Basic Attack and a burst of speed that goes up to 4 (5?) stacks.
Basically just use Koshka if you have her, instead of Taka.
Not saying that he isn't good CP-Wise, but it's just how the leaf falls or wind blows or whatever the expression is.
I have one more question as i am playing with your core items to find a build that seems consistent with me. I normally have been opting for the SB instead of TB. I wanted to try SM on him but don't understand how the passive and life steal work. Is it based on core Damages and WP items combined to reach max life steal and if so is it worth it to use it with out SB or TB that gives you raw WP damages?
Uhm. I don't follow or get what you mean.
Assuming by core Damage, you mean Base hero damage, life steal works on all WP a hero has, not just raw WP from the item itself.
Even if a hero like Skaarf got a SM, the Life steal would work on 10% of the Weapon Damage dealt.
Perchance you mean that the passive of SM, the +25% Life steal Effect on enemy heroes thing, I'm not really sure how that works either. I personally believe that when you fight a hero instead of a minion or creep, it just gives you the 25% Life steal instead of combining both the passive and the base Stats on SM. Because that sounds really overpowered and doesn't seem to be right.
(I mean, +35% Life steal increase on a Krul?)
I could be wrong, I just think that since SEMC Developers balance the game pretty well.
So basically I think it's just a:
10% LFSL on minions/creeps
25% LFSL on Enemy Heroes.
The Life steal function is just simply whatever amount of life steal percentage you have multiplied by the amount of damage you do to a hero/minion/creep.
I think it's worth it, if you're always getting sucked into a massive team fight all the time, get the Serpent Mask. It's not quite a Sorrow Blade, but it does wonders for sustaining Taka, since BP makes him do more damage, in turn increasing the amount of life steal he has.
BP is basically two Sorrow Blades and a Blazing Salvo at Max Stacks.
Taka with the Sorrow Blade path:
SB, BP, and BNSW.
That's at normal 150+50+30, or 230 WP.
At Max Stacks you get a +250.
So now it's +480 WP. You got all the defense with the build I have.
Oh yeah, and 126 base WP.
So total including everything: 606 WP.
This build essentially turns him into a very very strong Assassin.
Taka with the Serpent Mask path:
75+50+30, or 155 WP.
Max Stacks: 405 WP total.
Add in that base WP and we have 511 WP total.
Taka is still a very strong Assassin with this build.
SM let's Taka get to stay in the fight, allowing him to build more and more increasing damage against his opponent(s).
To me I'm guessing that, at max BP stacks,
(511 WP)
Taka would get 25% of that back as health back, right?
That is 128 Health back per hit.
Add in enemy armor and all of that, I'm guessing you'd at first get 70-8 health back, before moving up to around 100-110 health back per hit, since Bonesaw builds Stacks only on one enemy.
Essentially...
Taka would be healing for days.
Now that I think of it, my builds makes Taka more of a brawler, before he evolves into a heavily armored Assassin, WP-Wise.
Thank you for asking!
I appreciate your questions, since they help me continue to improve this guide.
I'm going to update some more WP info in the guide, since I've been wondering what else to put in.
Most people play him WP anyways.
:P
PS: I feel like a make another guide another guide everytime I reply.
It's funny, in a really terrible way.
I think the guide is great. I did learn and might be worth mentioning that the initial buy at the start should be armor or shield depending on the enemy jungler because some only go CP or WP so Krul get armor or Koshka get shield. I also get shield if I can't tell bc i can build the shield into a Fountain or Agies and I think one is necessary on him to add some tackiness. With armor i ran into a situation where after first trig to jungle shop that both the enemy was all CP and had to sell my armor. In that situation I will probably build Ageis and Fountain.
The only other thing that is confusing and I'm still playing with is what to build first because i normally don't go with a TB (people should rush bc it is a huge early game item). I want to try building the core items in the guide and then my 3rd item a SB, SP or TM or at least building the BP out first since BNSW may not be necessary if the enemy doesnt counter build Taka with armor.
But this guide has helped a lot. Just starting with a defensive item alone has made it more possible for me to engage early with taka and come out on top so now I start him and koska this way.
Hmm. Thank you for your input.
I have the stuff in the guide, but I didn't explain enough about it in the Defense section.
I only have it in the situational section of the item paths.
I'll put in more today about it.
But thank you! I wasn't expecting someone to view this guide, much less comment on it honestly.
Thank you for the guide. I stumbled upon it and it helped me learn to play him at a decent level at this point. Still learning to play him a lil better against certain heroes like koshka who just rest me lol early game

Btw I made a CP Taka Guide as well and I would be very glad if you would just check it out. Thanks!

Building him no defense is when you are snowballing against a Ringo, Celeste, and SAW/Vox or ranged comp without Kestrel.
Without defense, Taka literally lives on the knifes edge, and requires his old set up of crit and lifesteal.
PS sorry for late reply
WP is also much harder since you need Kaitem to dodge debuffs otherwise you are dead.
But I'm mainly talking about ranked, lol.
