Adagio's Passive Top

Adagio's passive, Arcane Renewal is one thing i see a lot of Adagio players (or teammates) overlook. Thing is, his passive is the key to give Adagio incredible sustain, without much investment in energy recharge.

Let's take a look :

Whenever enemies burning with arcane Fire take damage from any source, Adagio regenerates 20% of that damage as energy.

Any source, meaning teammates, minions, turrets, or even the Kraken.
What that means is that if you are smart in how you apply your Gift of Fire, you shouldn't have any problem running out of energy. Here's a few direct applications :

In the jungle, if you are not jungling alone, let your teammate get aggro. Heal him right away, as you are sure you will hit all the minions with the fire. The damage your teammate and you will do then should be enough to almost get you full on energy. An Halcyon Potion or last hitting a healing minion should make up for the difference.

In the lane, spread gift of fire when you know your target will sustain a lot of damage shortly. A wave getting closer to your turret for example. That means that if you are the one defending your turret against a push, it will be very hard for your enemies to force you out, as you will heal and regenerate energy.

After a teamfight, you could heal your initiator right away, running your energy dry. Or maybe you could wait a few seconds, and heal them as they will be surrounded by enemies. The timing on this depends of course on how low they are, and how much damage they are likely to sustain.

Early Game Top

Start with a Crystal Bit and two Halcyon Potion.

As Adagio, you shouldn't buy an Energy Battery early game, as long as you know how to make the best out of his passive. This gives you a bit more damage and healing early, which is likely to make your team win the first skirmishes, and give you a bit more map control.

Most of the time, the game will start with a territory contest below the gold mine, trying to stop the enemies from stealing the jungle minions near the middle shop, and establishing dominance. An early Scout Trap can turn the tide of that fight, along with your heals and damage.

I usually roam with the jungler, keeping him topped, and following him for gank attempts. I'll leave him only if my lane is in trouble. Or for a short amount of time to buy a few Scout Trap to make sure we have vision.

Mid game Top

I'll try to get my Sprint Boots a.s.a.p. What they bring to the table is to good to be passed. An early sprint to slow down and enemy with Gift of Fire cast on yourself should guarantee a successful gank. Or it could save your life.

The first item I'll try to complete depends on how the game is going. If we are winning, I'll try to push the advantage and get a Shatterglass. If not, I'd then go probably go for a Clockwork. If your team lacks an initiator, then Eve of Harvest would allow you to fulfill that role, to an extend.

Build whichever item you think fits best the needs of your team, and keep on supporting. You won't do as much damage as an Adagio sporting Alternating Current, but your are much more beneficial to your team as a whole.

Oh, and keep on laying down Scout Trap for vision. Be smart with those, you dont want all your gold to be spent on traps too easy to find.

Late game Top

When you are done with you first item, you should start to think about late game, and the items to support your team. Unless your team is doing very well, then build another offensive item.

Get your Reflex Block. You can actually buy it before completing your first offensive item if you really need to (a crystal Ringo killing you for example). You'll then upgrade it to a Crucible. With a careful use of crucible, heal on your initiator, and your ultimate, you have the tools to really change the outcome of teamfights.

As a support Adagio, I usually try to not rush in the midst of things right away. At least not until you have Eve of Harvest, then you can take some heat. Follow your initiator, try to land Gift of Fire on as many targets as possible. It's not always good to try to keep your "tank" topped at all time, if that means running low on energy. It can be useful to let him go in the middle of a minion wave and heal him then, granting you energy through your passive.

To support my team even more, I usually build a Fountain of Renewal. This gives you a bit of armour, shield and health, all good things to help you survive. The health regen will make sure you dont have to heal yourself too much, as you shouldnt be the first one to rush in anyway. And the active part of the item is AMAZING. If you time it properly, it is a lot of healing for your team. Together with Crucible, and a well timed Verse of Judgement to buy your team time, you should turn the tide of most fights in your favour. Leaving your enemies wondering why the hell nobody died on your team.

Remember, with that build, you are the most beneficial to your team when you support them. Instead of trying to kill that fleeing SAW, do slow that Koshka trying to kill your Ringo. Or heal SAW so he can keep that push going. Usually, keep your ult to make sure your teammates dont die, let them kill things.

Yet again, keep vision with some traps if needed.

Offensive Items Top

Clockwork

Gives you some cooldown acceleration, crystal power and energy recharge. A well rounded item for Adagio. I usually buy it as my one cooldown item. Mainly for my ultimate, but healing more often is always welcomed.

Shatterglass

You need the crystal power. This will make your heals very potent, which is why i choose this instead of let's say Broken Myth. It adds quite a punch to your ultimate as well.

Eve of Harvest

Why, if you are not the one rushing in? Because you'll take damage, no matter what. Gift of Fire on your initiator will heal you through this. That and careful play will allow you to focus your heals on your teammates, not yourself. In the same vein, your ult will get you a lot of health back.
Second, it gives you a lot of energy and energy regeneration, which are needed mid to late game.

No Alternating Current? This item is amazing on Adagio, synergies really well with Agent of Wrath. But it doesn't do much for your team. I rather spend more time controlling the fight than being a leet dps. It could be a good choice though, if your team really lacks damage.

Defensive items Top

Crucible

First part of your defense. The health is needed to not be bursted down. And the activate is amazing with your ultimate, it's amazing for your teammates. It's amazing. Buy it.

Fountain of Renewal

Complement your support abilities really well. First, the added health, armour and shield is good for you. between that, the health regen, the health from crucible, your heals, your slow, Eve of Harvest, you will be very hard to kill. Second, the team heal is very good, if your team is resilient enough to not be killed quickly. The combination of Crucible and this should keep your team healthy.

Keep in mind the heal depends on the %life of whoever is healed. So try to time it when your whole team is a bit low. It's a bit risky, you dont want to do it too late, but that is why you have crucible. To give you a buffer.

Journey Boots
Not much to say, you need boots. The added armour/shield/health/regen will round up you defenses. And the sprint, more ganks, more escapes, more surprise ultimates. Buy the first tier as soon as you can, max it throughout the game.
