Threat Hero Notes

Vox Weapon Vox has great sustain. You'll beat him on the initial burst, but if he has some defense he'll beat you in a 1:1. Play against him like you'd against a CP Vox - ambush.
1
Joule She can't do much. You outrange her, just stay super mobile and use zoom to escape out of her telegraphed stun. Her thunderstrike is laughable, and her telegraph on the stun just makes it super easy for you to escape.
2
Catherine As long as you wait for her shield to go down she melts incredibly fast to the combo of aftershock and bonesaw, which just destroys her perk.
3
Celeste She's much slower at you with attack and you can weave in and out. Your aftershock combo will murder her fast, and you can chase her down and finish her off easily.
3
Petal Your zoom is great at making her munions useless, and again aftershock + bonesaw combo destroys her pretty fast.
4
Adagio Weapon adagio can't take your burst with aftershock and bonesaw, but do play hit and run with him. He has massive range on you so in and out, let your team finish him off.
5
Krul The new Krul is your doom if he jumps you. With the ease of using his perk to slow you, plus one of the best initial bursts if he overdrives rush with an aftershock means he will absolutely murder you... if he can catch you. Keep your distance and kite him, make sure to keep far enough that he can't hit you with ruh.
5
Ardan Daddy can trap you, removing your ability to kite, and he often packs so much health that even with your aftershock he will beat you down faster. Stay away from him, reflex block to get out of his shields. Hit and run, like you would with Adagio.
6
Glaive This dude can shut you down fast; he has great alpha strike potential, his punch will put you down fast.
7
Koshka Koshka has speed. Early game you don't have a chance against her, once you have aftershock you need to be careful but even against a tankasha you have great alpha burst for taking her down and backing out.
8
Vox Crystal Vox outdamages you, and if his kit includes aftershock you may have trouble. If he builds a lot of blue without defense, hide in the bush like a Krul and jump him. You have more health and defense than he does, so if you get the alpha strike you can take him since his damage isn't great for 1:1.
8
Ringo Ringo has you out-ranged, both WP (especially WP) and CP can easily out damage you, and he's incredibly mobile. Try to avoid him especially 1:1, he can kite you and do more damage than you. Obviously if you ambush him you can do a lot, but he usually has a buddy and a good Ringo will bait you into a trap.

The goal Top

You aren't building a lot of CP or WP with this guide. The point is to have utility and great alpha strike, allowing the rest of your team to help mop up what is left. You are an ambusher, and meant to get in and out fast, and to support your team with utility items. Vox isn't a natural tank, so despite buying heavily into defense don't think you can take on a crew by yourself or out tank a regular tank.

Why aftershock? Top

Your A ability, Sonic Zoom, throws out two regular hits. If you time it right and start with a regular hit, you'll hit the enemy 4 times.

This means your initial burst will always apply aftershock immediately - against a carry these means you can sometimes get them to nearly 50% health from full on your initial volley. However, you won't have a volley like this again until your zoom can be kicked off - so don't go and waste your aftershocks by using pulse first, and carefully time it so you use pulse to activate your second aftershock 2 seconds after the first.

Why bonesaw? Top

Your A ability hits 4 times in your initial burst if you time it well. This means you have placed 4 shred counters on the enemy almost immediately, destroying any armor they may have. This is incredibly powerful against tanks like Catherine or Joule, who specialize in natural armor.

This also means your weapon carry, if you have one, will be able to do an incredible amount of damage against the person you just hit.

General build tips Top

Make sure you always keep stocked up with potions. These are critical to staying alive.

Build a battery early on, so you can keep your powers going. Otherwise rush aftershock.

Once you have aftershock start building your defense item and bonesaw.

Generally I get a reflex block quickly, then blazing salvo. Depending on how the match is going (and what the enemy is building) I will follow the defense against WP/CP items - meaning get your atlas or fountain first, then get bonesaw. If you are snowballing the enemy get bonesaw before completing the first T3 defensive item.

Fighting Strategy Top

You're an ambusher. Let your carry or other jungler bait the enemy, when they are baited jump in and do your alpha strike and move back so you don't get targeted immediately after. Lead in with zoom when ambushing - you may be tempted to use pulse right away, but this means you lock yourself out of using aftershock again.

Once the timer for aftershock is gone, use pulse and initiate another burst against your target. Try to go after whoever is weakest or the main target, and never use your attack on Catherine with her shield up. If you notice the enemy use reflex block/shielding, try to wait that out as well - it'll just eat up a significant part of your damage, negating your alpha.

Wait for it appears to have a longer range than it does - get used to it actually being a bit shorter range than you'd guess from the targeting zone you get when you prep to use the skill. If the enemy is starting bunched up open with the move - even if it means losing a chance to use aftershock. if they aren't, save wait for it for after pulse...

So think this:

[*] Open with Sonic Zoom, which applies aftershock and 4 stacks of shredding.
[*] After 2 seconds, use pulse so you have another aftershock
[*] If the fight is still going, use wait for it after AS timer is over, and another aftershock

If the enemy is bunched, obviously open with wait for it, then sonic zoom. Often it is a good idea to use sonic zoom in a direction away from the enemy, unless your team is chasing.

In almost all cases don't lead the charge - despite defensive items you are still fairly squishy, and you don't have sustain damage.
