Ardan is a tanky and very efficient support. But he is also viable as a carry. This build will combine the two and allow for lategame team fights to go much more smoothly.
When I play Ardan, I like to rush a stormguard banner to help reduce the time spent on farming and also to do more damage in early jungle fights or ganks.
After stormguard, buy a oak heart. Now you have a choice of going for the fountain or the crucible.
If the enemy team has multiple stunners like
,
etc, rush the crucible. Otherwise, go for the fountain first. After the first t3 defense, buy/upgrade to t2 boots and then start building utility.
If the enemy team has taka or your team is constantly being ganked, buy contraption
If the enemy team is slippery and are always running away, buy warhorn
Now that you've finished your core defense items, it's time for some damage.
Vs high armour teams or if your team has a weapon power carry
Sorrowblade, Bonesaw
Vs high attack speed enemies
Bonesaw, Atlas OR Sorrowblade, Atlas
If enemy team has no defense
Sorrowblade, tornado trigger

Use items at appropriate times
Don't get cocky and kill yourself trying to get a kill
