Krul Krul needs to be near his enemies to do any real damage, which is countered by the fact that Ringo is very mobile. If you think he may be in a bush, do not facecheck. Be sure to keep your distance and do not take an obvious path when escaping as his ultimate [From Hell's Heart] may be fatal.
4
Joule Joule needs to be close to her enemies in order to be effective. Ringo's superior mobility will ensure that landing a [Rocket Leap] stun or an ultimate will be difficult. However, do take caution in avoiding being directly under her [Rocket Leap], as being stunned will usually spell doom for Ringo. Joule can be pretty tanky, but her damage to Ringo is limited until she closes the gap. She will usually be the second priority, if not first.
4
Adagio Adagio's notorious [Gift of Fire] heal+dps combo is not much of a threat to Ringo in the laning stage as you can usually keep a great distance from the opponent's creeps/minions. If on fire, be wary of his ultimate [Verse of Judgement] that will stun. Ringo has low defence and so can be taken out easily, making him either first or second top priority in teamfights.
5
Petal A good Petal will constantly harass Ringo in lane due to her greater range. Early on, her [Bramblethorn Seed]s can negate any damage dealt to her. Take caution when her ultimate [spontaneous Combustion] is up. Petal's may be great, but she is pretty soft in return. She should be a top priority in teamfights.
6
Ringo Very conditional, depends on build and skill of the other Ringo. Always try to have the lead in terms of gold. Being a main carry in most cases, an enemy Ringo should be the first or second priority.
6
SAW Saw is dangerous, but not quite if he misses his[Suppressing Fire] on Ringo. With full [Spin Up] stacks, do not engage Saw as his DPS will most likely be greater than Ringo earlier on. If he has his ultimate [Mad Cannon] activated, immediately turn around. Saw isn't too dangerous if Ringo keeps his distance. However, he should be a first or second top priority.
6
Skaarf Skaarf can very easily spam his [Spitfire] while harrassing. If hit by a fireball, do not retaliate and instead, run, as his Heroic Perk [Fan the Flames] will melt Ringo down if he hits you. His array of nukes are dangerous to Ringo, but he has no real escape mechanic, so Skaarf will be an easy target in ganks. In teamfights, Skaarf will usually be a second priority as the carry should be focused on first.
6
Celeste In terms of crystal power and harrass in lane, Celeste is quite close to Skaarf. Her first ability [Heliogenesis] can be a pain to deal with. Be sure to stay away from stars that are already on the ground. In teamfights, it is very likely that Celeste will dance around the fight, so try to get closer to her, as she is very soft. Celeste can deal consistently heavy crystal damage, so try to make her either a first or second priority in teamfights.
7
Ardan Ardan is similar to Catherine in the way that he is tanky, but is different in the way that burst is much more effective on him. Be careful of his ultimate, [Gauntlet], though. Like any other stun, it might spell doom for Ringo.
8
Glaive Naturally the tankiest hero in game. With his [Afterburn], he can very easily chase and stun Riingo. His high-damage nuke can melt Ringo down. Keep your distance and kite. Glaive should be the first or second priority in teamfights.
8
Taka Taka's specialty is to get in, kill, and get out fast. Ringo being a pretty soft hero may become a prime target. His invisibility allows him to sneak by undetected, and his nukes and crits will nuke Ringo down if you are not careful. Always try to keep your distance. Taka should be the top priority due to his ability to completely and quickly neutralize Ringo. Be sure to carry Scout-Traps and Flares often when facing a Taka.
9
Koshka With her ultimate [Yummy Catnip Frenzy], she can lock Ringo down. Though a melee hero, her naturally high speed will ensure that she can also pursue or escape with ease. Be wary of her early game, avoiding her at all costs. Koshka will usually be the first into the fight, so take her out first if you can.
10
Catherine Any Ringo's worst nightmare. Catherine's shield can completely negate most of Ringo's damage, including [Hellfire Brew]. A single [Merciless Pursuit] stun from her may take down most of Ringo's health. Take caution and try to stay at the back of teamfights. Make her a last priority in teamfights.

INTRO Top

Ringo
This is a more advanced guide aimed at those well versed with the basics of the hero and the game.

A Crystal-Ringo build is a great alternative to regular Weapon-Ringo builds. Give this a shot if you are seeking a strong substitute or if you want to experience true Crystal power.

On the 1st of July, this guide was one of the ones picked to be featured weekly. I would like to thank the staff of VGF that made this possible!

PROS AND CONS Top

The pros and cons of Crystal-Ringo build.

PROS

  • Able to begin pumping out consistent damage after just one Tier-3 item, Alternating Current
  • Greater energy/mana pool, maximizing time away from fountain
  • Achilles Shot hits like a truck due to crystal stat focus
  • Hellfire Brew has much greater damage than regular Weapon build or Hybrid build
  • Damage hardly affected by Metal Jacket and other armor items

CONS

  • Early game impact lower than Weapon build
  • Early game, more difficult to last hit due to low weapon stat
  • Lower burst damage due to lack of Tension Bow
  • Higher difficulty in Minion/Gold Mine and Krakken steal
  • In very late game, Weapon-Ringo may out-damage Crystal-Ringo

EXAMPLES OF SUCCESS Top

My ingame name is Xynh. The following are examples of successful C-Ringos following this build.

For this first game, I was confident enough to not get a Reflex Block.

Both of these games are victory by surrender.

This next game was a very even one, up until the team wipe + Krakken, which lead to surrender.

EARLY GAME Top

Energy Battery
A single battery will be enough to sustain regular usage of Achilles Shot and Twirling Silver for a good while. Achilles Shot can be spammed indefnitely. Be liberal with its use to help in last-hitting and harrass, but be sure to prioritize last-hits.

Halcyon Potion
Potions for regen.

BUILD UP Top

With crystal, Ringo's Achilles Shot will hit hard. When maxed, it will usually be in the damage range of a single Tension Bow Ringo attack, or greater. In addition, C-Ringo's superior energy regen means that both Achilles Shot and Twirling Silver can be used in much greater frequency, being better than W-Ringo in terms of sustainability. This means that fountain visits are usually less frequent.

Sprint Boots
Before finishing your first Tier-3 item AC, do not forget boots. (That's you I'm talking about, AlceusWeiss) Use in pursuit if confident and in escape.

Reflex Block
Reflex block will make Ringo a little tougher as well as have a great active that can prevent death in 3/4 situations.

Alternating Current
AC is bread and butter of C-Ringo. With AC passive, 1/2 of your attacks will proc crystal damage. While Twirling Silver is active, Ringo's attacks will proc three instances of damage:

1- Regular attack damage
2- AC passive crystal proc damage, one in every two attacks
3- 2nd skill crystal damage

Note that usually before finishing at least AC + 2/3 Tier-2 crystal items, C-Ringo's damage is usually not up to par with a good weapon Ringo with Tension Bow.

CORE Top

Keep the momentum of C-Ringo's damage with Aftershock and subsequently, Shatterglass.

Aftershock
Aftershock proc will greatly accelerate rate of Gold Miner/Krakken capture; Spam Achilles Shot and Twirling Silver but be sure that Aftershock is off cooldown before using each skill. The 15% Aftershock proc will allow C-Ringo to tear down tanky heroes like Catherine, Ardan, Glaive, and so on. Lastly, crystal-based lifesteal on the proc will also slightly increase survivability.

Shatterglass
Shatterglass will greatly ramp-up C-Ringo's damage all around, ensuring that C-Ringo will be on the lead in terms of damage.

DEFENSIVE ITEM OPTIONS Top

When it comes to upgrading Reflex Block, two options are available, each with its own strengths.

Aegis provides less hp than Crucible, but also gives an increase to shield, which reduces the damage of crystal-based attacks. Moreover, Aegis' active has the added benefit of potentially blocking a stun on C-Ringo.

Crucible provides a lot more hp than Aegis, but does not provide any shield. However, its team-wide active can greatly reduce the impact of some ultimates on the entire team. Some of these large AOE ultimates include Skaarf's Dragon Breath, Adagio's Verse of Judgement, Catherine's Blast Tremor and so on.

6TH ITEM OPTIONS Top

After getting all cores, C-Ringo will have freedom to choose the sixth item.

Broken Myth
Competent players will usually realize C-Ringo's source of damage and build Aegis and other Shield items. Broken Myth allows C-Ringo to overcome these enemies. However, if against less competent players that do not build Shield items, the other options may be more beneficial.

>Update: New Broken Myth after has fantastic passive that increases crystal damage every second until three seconds max. C-Ringo as a ranged carry will have no problem building these stacks up in a fight. This item should be greater considered in all situations, and not just when enemies get shield items.

Eve of Harvest
Extra energy regeneration is gladly welcomed. Crystal-based lifesteal will ensure that C-Ringo is self-sufficient in not only energy, but health as well. Potential crystal damage will be limited as Eve provides subpar crystal damage when compared to the other options.

Shatterglass (Second)
Another Shatterglass will provide the possible greatest direct increase to C-Ringo's damage than Broken Myth or Eve, but does not prove any utility unlike the two.

CONCLUSION Top

C-Ringo can be an absolute monster if in the right hands. Thank you very much for reading my guide.

Do feel free to send me screenshots of your victories with C-Ringo.
Good luck on the Fold!
