Threat Hero Notes
1
  No Threat
2
Adagio Adagio is so easy for Krul, especially in Jungle. What potential this weak hero would have had in the first place is destroyed by Krul's nulifying of his buff and stickiness to shut down his cp.
2
Koshka Contrary to popular belief, Koshka is no threat to Krul. Krul's passive will stop Koshka escaping and his stacks will reduce her damage.
3
Alpha Alpha is easy in jungle, because Krul will beat any hero he sticks to, but still watch out for her late game.
3
Joule Joule never sees play, and if you can use your A to her Rocket Leap there is nothing she can do.
3
Phinn Phinn is too slow to be any form of threat. His stun can block you for a bit, but it is easily blocked / avoided.
4
Ardan Ardan provides strong utility for carries Krul may try to beat, but in terms of 1 v 1 all you need to watch out for is his Vangurd escape.
4
Ozo Ozo's dash can be annoying, but once he is next to you it's the same old story, a breaking point and slow will easily finish him.
4
Reim Reim can be a pain early, especially with Phinn, when you aren't tanky enough to win fights against him, but after that he is again so slow that even the root can't stop you.
4
Rona Rona is the same as Ozo, and most heroes to Krul: 'useless after the jump'.
5
Blackfeather Blackfeather can be threatening with his ability to relentlessly dive your carry, but Krul's slow and damage reduction wins in the end.
5
Catherine Similar to Lance, Catherine can be strong with he cc, but if you can block stuns first time when diving the enemy, she effectively dissapears. As a team you need to be very wary of her silence though.
5
Fortress Fortress is rarely used, but still watch out for the wolves.
5
Krul Krul vs Krul was best described by Vedius as a 'wet noodle fight', meaning it lasts forever and no one does any damage. Of course, this won't be a thing any more because of draft in all games.
5
Lyra Lyra doesn't do anything to Krul, except annoy him slightly by turning off his dash. Nothing special here.
5
Ringo Ringo lacks mobility so isn't too hard, but given the opportunity his kite damage is rediculous, so still be slightly cautious. He only really threatens you late game, where he can stack, but even then he is easy for Krul overall.
6
Celeste Celeste is like nothing if you can stick to her, but her poke can be deadly if unattended late game.
6
Glaive You can beat Glaive late game if you block his afterburn when diving his laner, but it is very hard to win jungle because of his early game damage and afterburn
6
SAW You would expect Saw to be slightly lower, but, despite not even needing shiversteel to stick to him, his attack speed is so fast that you may find yourself deleted before you can stack on him, espescially if he has Bonesaw.
6
Skaarf To Krul, there is no real difference between Skaarf and Celeste, so the points are the same.
7
Kestrel Early game Kestrel can be stuck to, but once she picks up a sorrowblade she can instant stealth, so you need fast reflexes and vision to beat her, otherwise she can do well against Krul.
7
Lance Lance is such a huge pain for Krul. With all of Krul's skills, slows, boots, and maybe a cheeky war treads from the support Krul can focus down a carry protected by Lance, but with all his CC boy it is difficult.
8
Petal Petal is one of the heroes I really hate, regarded as a potato by many she is actually extremely strong, her variety of slows, healing and kite is normally too much for Krul to handle.
8
Taka Taka can really dump on Krul, but not because of late game kite, but early agility. The match up leaves Krul helpless early, as Taka can kill the support but move so quickly that Krul will have a hard time even getting 3 stacks, and he can dodge the smite on top. Taka will be so good at avoiding Krul but stealing farm and slipping around the map, it is infuriating to deal with.
9
Skye Skye is the kiting queen, a notorious Krul counter. You can beat her early with rushed boots, but once she hits three items, it is already to late.
9
Vox If Skye is the kiting queen, the Vox is the king. He has a slow, a silence, a rediculously sustaining weapon build with Breaking Point, and a dash every 2 seconds. Kill him quickly or you won't kill him at all.
10
  No Threat

Introduction Top

Hey guys, this is MrKcool from mousesports and here is my guide for Krul. As you may have seen I played Krul a lot in Winter and Spring, and he is still one of my go to and faveourite heroes in jungle. I love him because of his tankiness and high skill cap, in the right hands he can make awesome plays even in the early game.

Abilities Top

Dead Man's Rush

This is really good skill all round for Krul, and fits nicely into his kit. It's a dash, barrier, damage and stack gaining skill all at once. You need to be mindfull of who you're playing against when you use your Dead Man's Rush, some heroes like Phinn have no escapability so you are free to use this whenever you need, but against aggressively repositioning heroes like Skye a mistimed Dead Man's Rush could be your downfall. Make sure to utilise it fully by saving this for when enemies use there escapes, so you can stick to them even if they reposition (e.g after the Skye
Suri Strikes).

Spectral Smite

This provides Krul with his immense tankiness and lifesteal and also shuts down enemy carries by reducing their damage. A lot of Krul players faulter because they are afraid in the early game, but the beauty of Spectral Smite is that even you get burst down at the start of the fight, you can survive and get kills by sticking to the enemy and gaining stacks to heal back up. This is my best tip with Krul, never be afraid! Sometimes you can even win trades when starting the fight on 1HP, if you use all your abilities correctly. Remember to save your Smite untill you are on high stacks, and if the enemy has low shielding a CP infusion might not go amiss due to the huge CP damage of the Smite.

From Hell's Heart

Krul's ult is a distance travelled based stun, and damage dealer, and although mainly utilised for the stun the damage and stack gaining can be very useful especially in the mid game. Made popular by L3oN, the 'Boomerang' is one of the most satisfying techniques and delivers a hugely long stun + bonus damage, so keep it in mind when you are initiating. Simply throw the Sword behind you, then charge in front of the enemy carrry and voila. As I said, the stun is the the main utility, and this is why we only place 2 points into the ult, and leave it untill last.

Gameplay Top

Early Game

  • Always start with a Swift Shooter, and I would chose the Spectrel Smite to match, since you can easier solo the Treant.
  • At the shop I reccomend picking up Light Shield or Light Amour depening on the jungler (unless you're NA, because we already know the enemies will be double weapon ;) ).
  • If you are against a weak early game hero that Krul can beat, you can even pick up 2 Swift Shooters to be aggressive, although this normally comes later.
  • Develop your items, if against double weapon rush Atlas Pauldron, if against double crystal rush Aegis, and if the comp is mixed then Shiversteel is normally a good shout.
  • Against heroes like Skye you may even want to rush Journey
boots if you are ahead, because this allows you to keep sticking and snowballing.

Mid Game

  • If you haven't already, make sure to pick a Reflex Block by now, and if you opted to rush a defense item then mid game is a good time to consider a Shiversteel.
  • Follow this with a weapon item, I dislike the Sorrowblade build because of its low defense and high gold ratio required to push it in early game, so i recommend Breaking Point.
  • After you're weapon item of choice, make sure everything you have built is at least tier 2, you will be really starting to do work now in fights.

Late Game

  • Krul can struggle late game against heroes like Skye, so now you have to be really careful because you can drop off even after winning early game if you don't snowball hard enough.
  • Late game Krul should complete one remaining defensive item (Crucible if against double damage comps, and whatever is left out of Aegis, Atlas Pauldronand Shiversteel when against mixed damage comps).
  • Your final offense item should be Bonesaw, or if the enemies seriously haven't got any armour, even late game, Tornado Trigger could be considered.
  • The playstyle is the same, stick to the easiest carry with no fear, and for Breaking Point stack on the support if you have time.

Positioning and Playstyle Top

I have touched on this a lot so far, but I will just go over it here. Krul is very tanky and has huge damage with his Spectral Smite in the mid game, so you will want to be playing very agressively and try to focus and stick to the enemy carries in order to protect your own. Agaisnt mobile comps howvever, like weapon Vox and crystal Skye the kite and damage is so immense that even Krul cannot survive, so the stratedgy is punished. The same effect will occur against double weapon comps, since they do huge single target damage. To deal with this you're team should try to have one hard engage on one of the carries, so quickly that they cannot utilise their kite. Against double crystal comps you shouldn't have to worry as much.
