Brochure Intro Top

To begin, this is my first Guide crafted. I plan to quickly hit all the points and get you rolling, fast.

I began VG last month and have been playing daily. In the beginning, I mainly played Lyra and Reim, but lost interest with both. I began playing Catherine, randomly, during a Battle Royale match. I liked her style of hassling opponents and gap closing for teammates. I'm not an expert by any means, but my track record with her can show that I've progressed well with her and learned to make her a contender. So hopefully you take this guide into consideration the next time you want to play Cathy. Thanks for reading!

Abilities Done Quick Top

First off.

Merciless Pursuit is your best friend. You will cherish it when you have it and miss it when it's gone. The great part is you can make it come back quick with . Now, you want to use this in crucial moments like stopping from using or initiating a battle with a team of heavy hitters.

Next Up.

Good when in the jungle. Constant DPS and protection from unsuspecting burst damage. The real use for this is when an enemy comes after you with high burst damage. You will deflect right back at them and they typically have very little health/defense. I'm looking at you .

Lastly.

This is how you can tell the good Catherine players from the bad ones. The use of Blast Tremor allows for the user to silence the enemy or maybe take down a fleeing one. That's when you know you're a strong Cathy player. If you are in the thick of the battle, an enemy is running, and you're team is being walled by two other enemies. It is your job to now A) stop them from chipping at your health and B) take that deserter down from the comfort of the front line. Once you've popped this skill, a good thing to have handy is . Bring that skill right back and silence them. Hassling is fun with Cathy.

Rundown of Items Top

Items are the key to any hero

Much needed in the beginning. Follow your jungler and take the damage, but DO NOT kill the monsters. Let them do their thing, get health, build up money, get ready to work into your full build.

First full item you want to go for. Exposing enemies, laying down traps, and that cooldown are all pivotal to Cathy's strength. A well placed trap and stunning the enemy over the trap can be the key to victory. Stay patient, but don't forget, you are captain and must begin the battle.

Boots, especially one's that have cooldown, are how you will close gaps and start fights. It can help stun a running enemy or stop one like from using their .

Going for this item helps gain back that health when out of combat and makes fighting a little easier on your team. Pop this when you realize you're being out matched and your team will thank you. I like to build into this one at the same time I'm building boots. Try to buy and close to the same time.

By now you should sell your Ironguard Contract.

I thought about this one for awhile. I played around with using this one and . Now, listen, this build is really just a suggestion. You can mix and match as you please. I say Stormcrown because Kraken is the ultimate objective, typically. Get this guy, throw down some sight from enemy base, attack Kraken, and wipe the enemy off the map.

At this point, you are pretty tanky. Why not add more health and protect your team some more? Crucible will give you some extra time to bother the enemy as well as protect your teammates when they're being hassled. Just make sure to pop this item when the enemy is focusing them, and not you. If you combine this with some , then the enemy has to work much harder.

Alright, the last item. This is how you will become annoying. You're already tanky enough to probably take down Kraken, but now you will be able to pop abilities faster. So let's say you stun an enemy, but they escape. Hit that , , , and beat that enemy hero into submission.

Finale Top

Catherine is an utility captain, through and through. You can build her into CP/utility, but she really shines with full on utility/defense items. Make sure you are in the front line and stun/shield when you can. Listen to your teammates when they need you, but also be the shot caller and play smart. If you realize a teammate is going down and you still have another one off in jungle and four towers to go through, let the enemy take the tower. Do not sacrifice yourself too if it'll be you against three others. You are the rock that the team must stand behind, literally.

Be confident, but be smart when going into battle. Absolutely, do not initiate if your team is not on your screen. You can hold off the enemy, but for only a few moments because of your lack of damage. Take precautions when going for objectives. Allow your team to take down tower, but be very close in case your team gets targeted. Just know that you are a tank and must take the damage so that your teammates can literally demolish the other team.

Another word of advice. Sometimes being patient is all you need. Catherine can build up to be a strong, annoying hero. If it seems that you might lose because the enemy just got Kraken and your last two towers are the only thing in the way of DEFEAT, remember to focus on their ADC. Stun them, mark them for your teammates, silence them, pop your abilities, stun them again, and make them work to get away. SPOILER They will not get away.
