Threat Hero Notes
1
SAW Saw is pretty slow ...just like Phinn. EZ.
2
Phinn Phinn is a potato ...a big potato
3
Ardan The only thing you need to take care of by Ardan is that he should not catch you inside his ultimate.
3
Celeste Celeste is based on her skills, so is Skaarf, but still, Skaarf’s hitbox on his Spitfire is bigger and it also deals more damage than 1 Heliogenesis from Celeste.
3
Rona A good comp against Rona is Skaarf and Ardan. Ardan keeps Rona away from you, Skaarf kills without even getting damaged. If Rona is jumping towards you, lay down a goop to slow and to keep her away from you. If she is attacking you, fight with the goop under her feet for extra burn damage.
3
Vox Vox is a little threat against you. If you manage to stay out of his range, you will be able to poke him down easy if you land most of your Spitfires.
4
Joule All you have to do against Joule is to avoid her jump, which causes a stun. The easiest way to avoid her stun is using a Reflex Block right before she lands it on you. Stay on range while stacking your Broken Myth on her.
4
Ozo Ozo is not that hard to kill. Buy defense and make sure to keep your range.
4
Petal Petal is kinda useless if she has no minions available. So stay on range and try to kill her mininos.
4
Reim Reim is a huge counter to melees - good for Skaarf. Although Reim can slow and stun you, with a good Support on your side u can easily take him down by poking him down before the real fight even begins.
5
Adagio Adagio counters Skaarf very well. Because of his heal your burn won’t harm the other teams that much.
5
Catherine Catherines threats are her silence and stun. If the silence hit you, you can't use your skills. If the stun hits you, you are a easy target and its hard to disengage. To avoid that, get out of her range. You can also try to block it, but its not that easy.
5
Fortress Skaarf can stack on Fortress but Fortress and his teammates can rush to Skaarf and kill him by using his ultimates, wich causes a huge amount of dmg and also decreases your movement speed.
5
Glaive Glaive is a melee, means he needs to stay close to you. With a Support like Ardan who can keep Glaive away from you it's easy for Skaarf to take him down. Try to buy a reflex block ASAP to avoid the Afterburn of Glaive.
5
Skaarf In a mirror match, the winner is the one who knows exactly how, and when to dodge Spitfire. All u have to know is the CD of Skaarfs Spitfire on every level. You also have to predict where Skaarf is trying to go to land a perfect Spitfire, a Goop and some auto attacks. A Reflex Block can avoid the passive of his Spitfire.
6
Kestrel Kestrel can do a good amount of burst damage. Stay behind your support or Jungler so they can body block for you, so it won’t hit you. The best support against Kestrel is Catherine. Catherine uses her B to deflect Kestrels damage on nearby enemies.
6
Krul Krul can be a big threat against Skaaf. You need to be aware of his passive and ultimate. Stay behind your Support to avoid getting stunned. It’s important to have good reactions when he runs from the bush towards you. If he does, use your boots to get away.
7
Ringo Ringo is pretty mobile which allows him to dodge Skaarf’s Spitfire easily. He is also a threat in early-mid game, but if your support manages to Atlas Ringo immediately once the teamfight begins, there is no way Ringo can kill you.
7
Skye Skye is a threat against Skaarf. Its because of her mobility. Once she manages to come close-by and lock her passive on you, it will be hard to land a Spitfire. Thats why you should not let her come near you. But when it happens and she manages to land a her passive on you. Wait for her forward barrage and hit her with your Spitfire.
8
Koshka Koshka is a strong hero against Skaarf. Her movement speed and CD reduction per hit allows her to do a good amount of burst damage to you. Not only is it hard to run away from her, but also not that easy to block her stun, but it's not impossible to block it. Practice with a friend to get the timing right.
9
Blackfeather Blackfeather is a threat to Skaarf. Not only because he has a good gap close, he will also do pretty much damage on you. Be aware in mid game.
10
Taka Taka is dangerous ...so dangerous. If you are not paying attention he will kill you immediatly. To avoid him dodging your Spitfire. Wait until he used his ultimate and his A. Most of the Taka players do the A immediatly after the ult. After he did his A wait until his feet hit the ground. Thats your chance to hit your Spitfire

Introduction Top

Hey guys,
My name is Orkan UpFyr Bolat and I'm a member of Rebirth of Empire.
This is a guide on how I play Skaarf.

Skaarf helped my team a lot in VGL, where we were very successful and I would like to share the build and strategies that worked best for us.

I want to mention that Skaarf is particularly well designed for poking, which makes you a serious threat for other teams. His skills are based on Crystal Power and deal a lot of damage. You will shine in mid and late game, but notice that you need to farm very well.

Abilities Top

SPITFIRE
Spitfire is a great ability to poke down your enemies and deals a large amount of damage before the actual fight starts - we call this pre-engage. I recommend to get Frostburn as its much easier to hit a slowed down enemy. A fully stacked Broken Myth will also help to greatly increase your dmg.
GOOP
Goop can be used to slow down enemies. There are several options for Goop once it's placed. It will slow down enemies who walk through it. Heroes that are already burning will cause your Goop to inflame itseld, or you do it using Spitfire. An inflamed Goop deals a little amount of AOE damage and causes burn.
DRAGON BREATH
Dragon Breath is a very strong AOE ability. Combined with Broken Myth it will do great damage in a large area in front of you. Also it gives a great speed boost, making it a great ability to chase down the other team.

Builds and Strategy Top

Starting Items
Beginn with a Swift Shooter and 2 Halcyon Potions. The Swift Shooter will allow you to clear the lane waves faster, which gives you an opportunity to roam and take last hits easy. Use halcyon potions wisely to recover energy.

Early Game
Be aware that you need to farm very well early on to shine in mid- and late-game. Get Frostburn to slow melee enemies when they're trying to attack you. This gives you the possibility to reposition yourself and to find a better spot for poking. Frostburn can also be used to make it much more easier to hit the enemies more often with your Spitfire. Sprint Boots are also important to disengage a fight once the focus is on you. Try to save them for just this and reengage the fight as soon as your opponent stats to focus someone else than you.

Mid Game
After you've got your early-game items I recommend to build Reflex Block first. It's one of the most important items in the game. It can be used in many different situations but the main purpose for Skaarf is to block incoming stuns and silences. Try to rush Broken Myth afterwards as it's the most useful item for Skaarf and your pokes will do much more damage. Wait util you have gained 5 stacks before you execute Dragon Breath. The ultimate will do a lot of damage, that's why you should try to hit every enemy in front of you.
I usually go with Travel Boots. They're very good and the speed comes in handy while kiting. Get yourself a Void Battery. When playing Skaarf you'll notice that you need to poke every time you can, so energy is crucial. Shield and armor are also important, but it depends on what kind of hero you're up against. Armor is considered to counters Weapon powered builds and shield counters Crystal powered builds. Make sure to always have an eye on what the other team is building.

Late Game
You will finish all your glorious items and and feel like a unicorn jumping over a double rainbow while eating nutella. In other words: You're gonna be a damn monster and your dmg will be insane, wooo!
Your last item should be either an Eve of Harvest or Clockwork. I recommend to buy Eve of Harvest when the enemy team consists of many melee heroes. Eve will keep you alive and works very well with Goop as melee heroes are forced to stay in your goop to fight. A valid point for buying Clockwork is when the opponent team consists of range heroes, because most of them dont have a gap close. You are able to poke much better because of Skaarf's range and Clockwork will give you the ability to poke faster and to make every Spitfire annyoing. Once you got all your core items you can start to upgrade everything to T3. I suggest to upgrade Aegis/ Metal Jacket first and Journey Boots last.

Positioning and Playstyle Top

In early game i would recommend you to play safe. Dont try to fight, your skills have a high cooldown in the beginning. Try to farm as much as possible, gold is the basis for a good and strong Skaarf. After you have got your 2 core items, Frostburn and Broken Myth, you'll be strong enough to start teamfights. Try to stay behind your Support and the Jungler and to poke as good as you can. Poking is very important because your itmes stack with each hit.
When you got your 5th Stack on Broken Myth, select your ultimate, Dragon Breath and hit all opponents in front of you. Don't worry about the sixth and seventh stack, you'll get them while using your ultimate. Don't be scared, your ultimate will do a lot of damage and you are not alone. Use your Sprint Boots if the other team is running away from you and follow the Carry. In case the other team is dominating a teamfight try to create a big gap between you and them and place a goop underneath their feet. Focus only on one hero because it makes more sense to take out their main dmg dealer first.
Communicate with your team. Skaarf is very good with Ardan and Glaive; while you are in a fight, Ardan can use his ultimate and you can stay behind it and do your pokes. When an opponent is about to attack you, Glaive can kick them away and buy you some time.
