Joule A good counter to a good Joule is Another good Joule. So long as you built defence against WP you should be good. Her CP isn't that much of a threat anymore as you can just walk out of her ULT

The Introduction Top

So you decided to join the Joule army eh?
Well lucky you.
How bout a brief history before we get started yeah?
A long time ago(well not too long ago)there lived a girl with her mech. They would dominate the fold with their ridiculous ult and decimate teams in a matter of seconds.
This led to many people raging and backtalking about her.
So one day, the supreme dev's decided to "nerf" the girl and her mech by extending the time required to dish out the same amount of damage.
Many fans were outraged that their favourite hero got nerfed. However, not all was lost as the girl and her mech still had a little trick up their sleeves. It was called "WP Joule".
Many had not heard of this build and thought that it was useless as it did not dish out the same amount of damage in the same period of time as the old Joule would. What they didn't know however is that this new build allowed player's to dish out insane critical damage and was basically a mini Big Red Button.

Now fast forward a couple of updates and many songs of praises, Joule is now very viable and her WP build can be seen roaming the fold, wrecking many uninitiated and ignorant players.

And so today, i decided to show you a path that allows you to capitalise on Joule's innate ability to wreck player's by combining the lethality of her old CP build and the insane critical damage from her WP build

The Breakdown Top

So you started playing as Joule, what do you get? What do you need to play her well?
First you'll need a good set of quick finger's/thumb's
Next you'll need to be able to trickshot/skillshot reliably
Lastly you'll need to know when and how to use her abilities
However, I should probably explain how to stutterstep as Joule first.
Joule's first attack is in the middle of her animation and takes awhile to hit the target. Her second attack however, comes at the beginning of her animation. Thus you're gonna want to skip the first animation by moving away or to the side of your target and then immediately lock back onto your target.
This allow's Joule to get in more attacks per minute and allows her to quickly deplete and enemy hero's health.
Also a quicknote: when a turret targets you and you are running away, remember to turn around and face the shot just before it hit's you. You'll take less damage and will be able to go back to the jungle to farm more.

The Early Game Top

For the early game you're going to want to follow the standard WP build as her overwhelming crystal power only comes into play late game.
Therefore, it is best to build towards the Sorrowblade and Tornado Trigger before getting the Tyrant's Monocle. This will increase your dps and will most likely allow you to take out enemies before they take you out.
As Tornado Trigger increases crit chance, damage and attack speed, it is essential in any WP and Hybrid Joule build as it capitalises on the crit chance that Thunderstrike has.
Thunderstrike also scales by 175% to WP damage and 100% damage. This will be very important later on as it will allow her to burst down even the tankiest of hero's quickly and efficiently.
NOTE: As always do not rush any WP items except for tension bow and since we aren't going to be using tension bow,it is best to slowly build the items as the gold for it comes.

The Mid Game Top

Now that you have both Sorrowblade and Tyrant's monocle i's time to build another Tyrant's monocle :P. The Tyrant's monocle is good for Joule as it increases the chance for a critical hit by 30% and the damage from the critical hit by another 30%.
This means that Joule now has 60% crit chance on top of the critical chance already built into the ability and a further 60% crit damage added to the sorrowblade's 150 Weapon powerand you've got a WP Joule ready to 1v3.
But is it enough? Of course not silly, we want her to give the highest damage output possible right? Which is why we'll be building towards a Frostburn to slow down enemies and add some damage to all her abilities, especially her Big Red Button which has 520% of juicy crystal scaling power.

The Late Game Top

So now it's late game and you have all the items that you need. Well naturally you'll want to use rocket leap's to initiate teamfights and with the WP and CP scaling on Thunderstrike surely you'll make mincemat out of your enemies right? WRONG. Joule does not initiate a teamfight, she hangs back much like a ranged hero and deals damage from the sidelines, too often have i seen Joule's with high dps go charging into the enemy team only to get focused and die instantly, doing absolutely nothing for the team and dealing 0 damage to the enemy team.
You want to know why? She has this thing called an open back where she will take more damage compared to her sides and front. Most of her abilities have a short delay before activation which is more than enough time for an experienced enemy team to take you out by stunning, silencing and slowing you down.
So to get maximum damage simply stay behind your support, poke with your TS, Rocket leap to an enemy at 1/4 health(You'll kill him don't worry, Rocket leap has crystal scaling too) and BRB the remaining team to get the quickest ACE in the history of ACEs.

Cons Top

You only have a single slot for defence which wont matter too much as Joule has natural armour on her front and sides. However, it might cause Joule to be extra easy to kill if a Taka can kaiten behind her, X-Retsu and auto attack, it will usually mean certain death. Therefore, Joule should stay behind her teammates, poke with her TS, Rocket leap to the enemy team as they are retreating and BRB their stunned faces(literally) for maximum overkill.
I realise i'm repeating myself but you really should not rush into teamfight's as Joule.
Also no boots, cuz Joule is a walking rocket launcher and it's all in with her. You go into a teamfight and get out with an ACE or you get out with a respawn timer

Tl;dr Top

Follow the build and you will win matches real good.
P.S despite what it looks like you can and probably should start building defence for your fourth item slot
Also leave your comment's below on whether this build was helpful. This was my first build and i appreciate any constructive criticism.
I'll also be adding minor updates to this build as each new update comes out if need be.
Props to Cocottely for your honest and great feedback
