Welcome to my guide on Rona. She's amazing, here's why! Top

Berserkers' Fury
Slot: Heroic Perk

Rona attacks faster than most heroes, but she deals 90% weapon power damage with each attack.

Rona's abilities use Bloodrage instead of energy, a unique resource that is generated from basic attacks, abilities and taking damage from enemies.
  • Critical strikes and basic attacks against targets afflicted by Mortal Wounds will generate additional Bloodrage.
  • This caps at 100 and decays when Rona has been out of combat for 5s.

She attacks 50% faster than most heroes but only deals 80% of her weapon power.
Overall this gives her a higher dps but this means that you need to get up close to maximize your damage. Have fun trying to do that in teamfights, even 3v3 fights against ranged heroes coupled with a decent support. So wait, should we not play Rona?? Not at all, she just shines early game. And because of that you want to make the most of the phase where you can happily run around the jungle and engage in early fights. More on this later.

Also - you can happily spam your abilities, every time you take or deal damage you gain bloodrage, your very own personal mana/energy. When this is full you also get a slight health barrier that scales with health (more health = more barrier).

Into the Fray
Slot: A

Rona leaps into battle, gaining Bloodrage for each enemy hero she collides with. After a short delay, the ground ruptures for 3s, dealing damage and slowing enemies who pass over it by 40%.
  • Rona is additionally granted fortified health for each enemy hero struck by the rupture.
  • Deals reduced damage to minions.

JUMP AROUND! But seriously...you jump to an area near you and create an AoE (Area of Effect) slow that also deals damage. Using this ability also gives you some bloodrage making this a lovely choice for initiating. Not only that but you get a % damage reduction depending on how many enemies you collide with. When overdriven this ability gives you 60% damage mitigation.

To put that into perspective, with a Metal Jacket, you gain 60% damage reduction for only weapon power. So this is insane for your sustain and will help you survive late game team fights where you let your lane carry take over as the main damage dealer. Be wary of your positioning. Jumping behind a ranged carry means that they can't stutter step away from your damage as easily as they're slowed. Also feel free to use this to get around the map, jumping over walls or just jumping because it's faster than moving normally is all good practice.

Foesplitter
Slot: B

A two-part axe attack that can catch up to - then brutalize - an unsuspecting target.
  • First activation: Rona lunges at her target, landing an empowered basic attack and granting her increased move speed and Bloodrage.
  • Second activation: Expend the bonus move speed and all of her Bloodrage to deal 1% bonus damage for each point consumed and apply Mortal Wounds to her target. She is then temporarily granted additional attack speed.
  • Each of Rona's basic attacks reduce Foesplitter's cooldown by 1s.

Now this is why I love Rona. Her B has 2 variants, the first version is a gap closer (giving you the freedom of not just jumping on top of the enemy carry) - THAT ALSO INCREASES YOUR BASE MOVE SPEED - you get to stick to them like the Amazon you are. This lets you happily stutter step right on top of them and means you don't need to get boots as early as with other junglers (stutter stepping is animation canceling, someone link me to the brilliant guide already written, i can't remember who wrote it though ;-;). The second variant deals a massive burst of damage, followed by an increase in her attack speed. Sadly, she now goes back to normal speed. This lends itself to being more of a finisher. It also uses all your bloodrage so please don't spam this. Use it like krul's smite - to kill enemies. If that fails wait till right until you lose the option to reactivate the B to make the most use out of the increase in movement speed.

Red Mist
Slot: C

Rona drains her Bloodrage and spins in a whirlwind, dealing weapon damage to nearby enemies. While spinning, Rona moves slower and gains fortified health each second.
  • Rona is immune to any movement impairing effects during this ability.
  • Can be cancelled at any time by reactivating it or using another ability.
  • Requires at least 50 Bloodrage to activate.
  • Deals reduced damage to minions.

Spin to win. You just spin and move freely and deal weapon damage. Your lifesteal is sliced in half but you do get a boost to your defenses so I end up using it to stay alive a while longer or to hit all three enemies right after i jump on them while my carry goes to town on them. If all goes well you will never/rarely use this.

How To Play Top

The Strat:

Ok now i'm excited. You'll need an Adagio, one crazy enough to own the jungle with you...or die trying.

Farming:

Everyone wants gold. We're no exception as that gives us infusions. And infusions win you the game with rona, in particular Weapon Infusion. Pick up the foeslpitter first. Spam it to farm and start at the back. Also grab a Weapon Blade. Your Adagio should pick up Agent of Wrath.

Do one rotation. If the enemy team is being aggressive, defend - don't pursue yet. You'll have the lvl 2 so you can happily jump, gain damage reduction, use Foesplitter and take half their health in an instant. Do not pursue as they back off. Do another rotation of your jungle in the same manner but use Into the Fray to hit double camps or if your Adagio is nice hit all 3 back camps once he leashes them into a group. Now he should also be level 2 Have him pick up Gift of Fire and Sprint Boots at the jungle shop.

THE FUN BEGINS:

Buy a Weapon Infusion and ping your co-jungler that you're about to do something crazy. They may be needed if you mess up. If you can grab Scout Trap, plant them for vision as you back out of the enemy jungle or to go off beneath the unsuspecting enemy if they somehow manage to have a chance against you. Run right into the enemy jungle and pick a fight. Pick up as much of their farm as you can. Have no fear. That infusion makes you insane. Let the Adagio buff you with Agent of Wrath, dash in with boots, heal himself (so they're slowed) and attack the jungle carry with the Adagio spamming you with heals and damage buffs as needed. If the enemy has an early stun ( Catherine's Merciless Pursuit for instance) pick up an early Reflex Block and then boots. Stay infused and keep rotating around the entire jungle. Gank the lane as necessary. You own the game right now, show that. This will never go wrong with some practice. Unless you 2v3 on the 1st rotation of the enemy jungle so if their laner disappears from lane yours better have killed him or be right behind you to set your team up for an early ace.

DANGER

If this play fails, you won't come back. Make it work.

From then on your Adagio builds standard support and you rush Sorrowblade. The next item is Shiversteel as that, coupled with the movement speed buff from Foesplitter means no one can run from you. Also you get damage mitigation off Into the Fray and Red Mist anyways and as you're hyper fed why bother with tanking up. [Aftershock is nice also as that synergies with your ability spam strategy and ensures your jump is up when you need to exit a sticky situation.

Remember to push objectives when possible. Happily take the minion mines early and play extremely aggressively. By the time you fall off your late game laner (I recommend Celeste, Skaarf or Vox, all built CP) will be so fed they'll be laughing. Also the enemy will be so far behind it won't matter. This is because the junglers weren't able to farm and the laner missed a ton of last hits trying to defend a lost jungle.

NOTE: Top

The skill path displayed is one that provides the least risky late game. Once you get a feel for Rona and are confident in closing out the game quickly don't bother picking up Red Mist and rush the Foesplitter (prioritizing it) then max Into the Fray. Then grab Red Mist. This will give you more burst. With this skill path try building Aftershock earlier, it'll really make you bring the pain.

This is still rough so it will look pretty soon and more will be added. Credit for this goes to me, RebelAkuma and RebelKwin for being mad enough to risk ELO on the first few minutes of a game. His Adagio is bae 😍😍😍. Please go ahead and follow @vgrebellion on twitter and root for us in coming tournaments.
