Breaking the meta with Roam Joule - Introduction Top

Do NOT underestimate Joule, as she is one of the most versatile and fun heroes in the game, able to deal tons of damage while controlling the game the way she wishes. The three key things to mastering this build and finding success is: aggression, adaption and precision. Remember, you are the ROAM/SUPPORT, so you must have the skills to first hit minions and provide vision etc. You will be using a mixture of defence, utility and offence.

Aggression: With this build, you are to lead your team in early game invades and ganks, to secure kills, objectives and farm, and to accumulate as much advantage as possible. Going into the late game without advantage will make winning harder as a standard support like Ardan and Cath will be more effective late game. An aggresive and overwhelming start will give you and your team the momentum and confidence you all need to win the game.

Adaption: Depending on team composition and game state, you need to be able to analyse the game and react accordingly. Look at the stronger carry (laner or jungler) on your team and build the OPPOSITE type of items to make counter building harder for your opponents. For example, if your allied Ringo is building WP, you should build CP. As of the meta now, building the CP version is more effective in most cases. Focusing on the enemy carry, the most squishiest target, is your first priority.

Precision: Every one of her abilties are skillshots so you're going to have a bad time if you don't aim well. Landing her A, Rocket Leap, is absolutely crucial. This is why contraption and vision is good, as it shows where the enemy is, and you can leap more accurately and more often.

All of the above take a lot of practice so don't feel discouraged if you don't do so well the first few times you play this.

Gameplay Top

CP Roam Joule is so effective against the meta right now. With popularity of high damage, squishy carries like Ringo and Skaarf, Roam Joule will have no trouble securing and eliminating these key targets. Another reason why this is so good for counter-picking in draft.

Early Game:
Rocket Leap, rocket leap, rocket leap. Hitting or missing this skillshot will decide the game. Early game, even without a single offensive item, it will deal 1/4 to 1/3 of your enemies' health in one jump. In 2v2 invades, a successful rocket leap almost always guarantees a victory provided your team mate helps you finish them off. You will crush their spirits and take their farm if you somehow manage to jump on to two enemies in the shop bush while they're browsing the shop. Due to how fast you and your jungler can clear jungle creeps, you can frequently gank lane. Again, landing rocket leap is crucial here. Stormguard banner is also very powerful early game. Try to accumulate as much advantage as you can (you consume a lot of gold).

Late game:
More rocket leaping! Using your ultimate well and counter building is very important as well. Building the right defence is vital and focusing the squishy carry is crucial in order to win. Usually, a well executed A (rocket leap) and C (Big Red Button) combo means a win in a team fight.
When you successfully leap on and blast your enemies, they will instinctively move away and focus you. Which goes to plan, as now your carries can easily finish the enemies off without being targeted too much. You can turn a lost game to a won one by simply executing this combo and acing the enemy team.
Rocket Leap and Big Red Button can scatter the enemies so that they lose their formation and are isolated from each other. Do not worry if you lose a team fight, since you can rocket leap over a wall and escape, then try to ace the team once your allies are alive again. Try to fight anywhere but the open spaces in the lanes and the middle of the jungle where aiming your skillshots and Big Red Button is harder. If you can catch the enemy in your or their jungle, it will make hitting them all much easier.

WP Roam Joule
Essentially the same as CP Joule, except you use thunderstrike to peel the enemy carry and quickly mow down objectives and camps. Even though, you do not provide the team fight prescence CP Roam Joule has but you take down objectives and turrets so quickly due to the combined strengths of Stormguard banner and your weapon power.

Note: YOU WANT THE ENEMY TEAM TO COUNTER-BUILD AGAINST YOU SO THAT THEY HAVE NO DEFENCE AGAINST YOUR CARRY. IF THEY DECIDE TO IGNORE YOUR POWER, THEN THEY'LL WISH THEY DIDN'T!

Step 3: Quickly line Big Red Button to take out chunks of health from the carry as well as other enemies.
Step 4: Start finishing off with thunderstrike while activating item actives like crucible, atlas or fountain.
Step 5: WIN.
