Ringo Not a big threat, but if he is on the other team, be sure to keep an eye on your HP. Since you are squishy, if you dip low and Ringo uses his ulti, you're finished.
8
Glaive Glaive is the third highest because of his knock/stun attack. If played with a better player, Glaive can and will push Koshka into a fatal position where she cannot escape.
9
Catherine NEVER attack when her shield is up, just hover around her. Her stun and silence effectively deny Koshka, this is why she is the 2nd highest threat.
10
Krul Krul is the top threat to Koshka. If played right, he will always win in 1v1 even if he has lower health. Only engage with a teammate or if his energy is low.

Disclaimer Top

This is a no non-sense build geared towards burst damage. For it to work to it's full potential, the items must be bought in order. Feel free to give me feedback about it!

Please note, these written parts pertain to the Crystal Burst build. I will create another section for Crystal Mauler.

Threat Analysis Top

The Threat Meter only has the top threats. The rest are explained in the following:

SAW: Never initiate when he is spooled up or else you will lose 90% of the time. If you catch him not spooled, or just starting to fire, initiate with PF > TD > basic > basic > YCF(PF). Idea is to close with him with PF and do huge alpha damage with TD. once he starts to spool up or run, use YCF. By then he should be dead, if not, TD to do another huge hit or PF if he is running. Do this, and you WILL win almost always in a 1v1.

Joule: Havent faced her much and I'm sure the players I've faced were not that good. Let her initiate on a teammate then try to burst damage her down from the flanks. If she turns to engage you, just run back and strafe from side to side so as to avoid her lightning strikes or her ulti. If she re-targets a teammate, re-initiate with PF or YCF and finish with TD.

Taka: I've won with this build in 80% of the 1v1s. In team battles, you should always focus fire with your team, but if you can burst taka down, do it. He has high DPS and movement so the sooner you clear him the safer your team will be. When I fight Taka, I NEVER intiate with YCF. I use PF then I try to predict when he will use cloak. It will usually be right after you PF and TD on him. Then I use YCF because he'll be freaked out by the huge burst damage he receives. If he does escape, try to use your boots and predict where he goes then PF to finish.

Petal: She's really easy to beat. She has low HP, you can burst her down and sprint away before her ulti fully finishes. However, if she does catch you, her ulti can and will wreck you. Try not to be stunned when she has her ultimate up.

Adagio: I have very limited experience facing him. All I know is, try not to face him with just some Journey Boots and a Scout Trap

Skill Explanation Top

I know I am going to hear it from a lot of people because I chose to max out PF instead of YCF. Hear me out. PF is your means of closing to a target and securing kills. Koshka is an ambush striker who is meant to secure kills. Play her like that. Now, let me clear up the air. I've noticed that I only use YCF to stun fleeing opponents or to stop enemies from channeling. I rarely ever use it to kill. So why upgrade it to the max when it wont increase stun? I use PF almost exclusively to secure kills. With Koshka, you should be able to PF twice before the opponent dies. PF to close, TD to damage, PF to finish. I feel that the early PF upgrades REALLY help in the early game when you're getting harassed by the enemy. Most of the time, they will brawl on your half of the map then chicken out because they're scared your team will come in to finish, the extra PF upgrade/s will allow you to finish them when they decide to run.

Key thing to remember, ALWAYS initiate with PF!!! unless you need to deny an ability with YCF.

This ability helps to land massive damage since it stacks based on enemies it hits. Be sure to keep TD stacked by hitting lane minions with it! For farming, this ability is a lot more useful than PF. However, you do not need it to be highly upgraded for it to be beneficial. The initial damage boost is fine for farming at start, you wont need to rush it to level 2 and 3.

This is the controversial ability. Everyone will stress that you MUST max out your ultimate! but imo, this ulti is a double edged blade. You may stun the target for 2.2 seconds, but keep in mind you are ALSO stunned(movement-wise) for 2.2 seconds. I find that many times I am killed for a poorly executed YCF finish. Either I time it wrong, an enemy appears out of nowhere, or my team doesn't engage, and I end up dying for a kill. and a 1-1 hero trade benefits no one, it only makes you fall behind. always try to stay alive. I would recommend using YCF to deny channeling or to hold an enemy so you or your team can catch him/her and finish them.

Opening Phase Top

Disclaimer, Buy the items in the order they are posted above for best results.
ALWAYS buy Energy Battery to start along with 2 Halcyon Potion.

Start by going into the jungle and farming as much as you can. I usually do one round in the jungle starting with the farthest creep since that is the most likely to be sniped by the other team. After I kill the four bunches of creep, I will buy Sprint Boots to help me farm quicker and to escape or snipe early weak enemies. As soon as I am able to, I will buy Void Battery. Continue farming until you have enough to buy Eve of Harvest.

I do not recommend Frostburn like many other build guides in that the item is strictly a carry from early to mid-game. There is no gain in the late to end-game. Your goal for this build is to level up and farm as much as you can. You should be the first to level 12. However, this build allows you to go for early sniping once you get Eve of Harvest and some of Clockwork. But do not focus on hunting just yet until you have all three items in the...

Sniping Phase Top

By now you should be pushing level 5-6. At least 1-2 levels about everyone else. Now in addition to just farming, look and watch the mini-map. Check to see if your team is engaged and scroll to see whats up. If the enemy is weak, go to the spot and initiate a kill then get out quickly. This build is for burst damage only, you will not need any defense since eventually your crystal will be strong enough to heal you and alpha-kill the enemy. If you have not used the Halcyon Potion yet, use them. Don't let them sit and take up inventory.

I notice that Koshka is useless as a crystal build unless Yummy Catnip Frenzy is up. I must stress the importance of Clockwork, the 50% cooldown bonus is HUGE! and you'll notice that you can initiate and kill more often. In my opinion, that item is the most important to Koshka since her whole build is based on minimizing cooldown.

All throughout this "Sniping Phase" be sure to save for Aftershock! It further increases cooldown of abilities AND boosts the crystal lifesteal of Eve of Harvest. Now you may engage even when your health is not full, just be sure not to be the initiator or else you will be focused down easier. After you get Aftershock buy Travel Boots. The out of battle bonus to movement speed helps to initiate. You could even buy these boots before aftershock if your team is doing really well. I know I said all items should be purchased in order, but this is the one exception! xD

The End Game Top

You're now ready to go for straight burst damage to secure those kills. Go for Shatterglass. It'll greatly increase your alpha damage and life gain. Pretty straightforward, right? The object of this End Game is to look at the minimap and look for those snipes! always look and see whats going on when you see an enemy icon near a friendly icon because that means they are probably engaging eachother and you should A) Go and save your teammate, or B) Steal the kill! Don't judge me. There is no such thing as kill stealing in my book, only that the enemy died. (unless its the farm minions. then I claim all of them for me. Hands off!)

Before you buy the second glass, buy Journey Boots!! You may have just bought Travel Boots but the cooldown on the sprint is really helpful for melee players to escape (and potentially initiate if enemy is distracted with fighting Kraken or other tough minions) I know I am guilty of that occasionally, but by now, your team should be releasing the Kraken. When the Kraken is loose, I focus on farming in the jungle instead of trying to save the Kraken. I notice that it's more useful to get the money for the last Shatterglass instead of sniping that last tower. Once you have your last item/s, it's over for the other team. You should be the first to max out your items, and that advantage should be enough to snipe anyone who is dumb enough to leave their base alone.

Highlights Top

  • Initiating Sequence: Pouncy Fun > Twirly Death > Yummy Catnip Frenzy > Pouncy Fun > Twirly Death
  • Final Inventory: Eve of Harvest Journey Boots Clockwork Aftershock Shatterglass Shatterglass
  • This is a easy build to master, just do not try to brawl with it. Feel free to hit and run. The real goal of this build is to dish damage very quickly before you can take any. In a team brawl, you should PF into the middle, TD, then YCF on the weakest enemy for a kill. Remember you do get bonuses for TD on multiple enemies. Take advantage of it!
  • Try not to get focused, if you're outnumbered, run. If you're in the End Game phase, you could easily take on more than one opponent, just be sure to focus on one without switching targets often.
  • Early Sprint Boots give you an advantage on opponents who try to steal your jungle minions, just hide in the grass and initiate with PF when the enemy is slightly weaker, with boots, they won't be able to outrun you if they're losing, but if you start to lose, just run. You should be able to outpace them easily. Not many players go for early boots.
  • Start the game by killing the farthest minions on your side so as to prevent the enemy from stealing it. On the way back to that area after killing the other minions, be sure to pick up the Sprint Boots!
  • Don't buy Frostburn! It will only take up an inventory slot in the end with no real benefit!
  • more to come...

Tips Top

Here's a list of little tips n tricks I learned along the way:
  • When the game starts, rush to your side's farthest minion spawn (the one with a small and a big guy) and kill them first. After you kill it, poke into the bush near the shop on your opponents side. if the minions are still there, chances are, the enemy jungle player is attacking his closest minions. so... steal those minion kills! you shouldn't be harassed (run if you see anyone though, you are very weak at opening)
  • After you do your first round of minion kills and are heading to the middle shop to buy Sprint Boots, buy the item and hang in the bush for a second or two. Watch if the enemy hero is buying something. if he does, ATTACK!!! chances are, his shop screen is open and he cant see what's happening. or worst case; his response is delayed by a bit. In both outcomes, you've got the advantage AND you have boots to chase him! cool! Remember to not chase too far! hopefully you have PF by then and can secure that early kill.
  • Halcyon Potion restores energy! use it when both your energy and health are low. If you get into a fight with the enemy hero and escape, my recommendation is to farm the close minions to your base and spam your abilities as much as you can THEN use your potion. that way you can utilize the potion fully.
