When you see an enemy alone, use your third skill called X-Retsu. Instantly after this skill, use Kaiten before you attack with your basic attack. After using Kaiten, your tension bows basic attack will do increased damage causing you to finish him off. If there is danger close simply use kaku and escape.

The thing thats good about tension bow is that it binds with aftershock which means you are technically a hybrid build. The first three things you should get are Tension bow, aftershock, and boots.
