Fortress Can be dangerous, but cant help his allies to run away.
4
Joule A skilled Rona player uses joules heroic perk to his advantage and trys to stick to joules back!
4
Koshka Koshka has high mobility, but with a shiver she cant get away.
4
Ringo Can be killed fast but dont let him kite you!
5
Adagio Can be dangerous but also has no real escape moves to get away from Rona.
5
Kestrel With his high movement speed due to his B, Rona can dodge arrows and Kestrel has no chance if she doesnt burst Rona down.

  No Threat
7
Blackfeather Strong Hero, 1vs1 depends on skill of the Rona and Blackfeather players.
7
Glaive Same as Blackfeather.
7
Skaarf Hard to stick to skaarf if he uses his abilities and frostburn correctly.
7
Vox Similar to Skaarf its hard to stick to Vox because of his A and he does massive damage if not deleted fast enough.
8
Ardan Can save allies. Shiversteel is a must have with an enemy Ardan!
8
Skye Can always be on distance of rona and is hard to lockdown because of her B jump combined with Frostburn slows.
9
Krul Fighting a Krul with melee heroes is always a pain, so try to burst him or just keep him away of youre laner.
9
Petal Petal has a high kite-potential with her extremely long range and therefor you need many gapclosers and lockdown like a shiver to get her down.
9
Reim Same as Krul. Reim is strong against melee heroes and its hard to take him down.

Introduction Top

Welcome to another guide! Today I will talk about Rona, she was one of my favorite heroes since the beginning and she returned this meta. Thats why I want to show you how strong Rona can be! First I will start with her abilities, how they work and how to use them right. I will also explain her gameplay right away, so you know how to play her the whole game over. At the end I will explain why I chose and stick to this Rona build.

Basics Top

Rona is played as a frontliner, which means that u are tanky, but also a massive damage dealer if build correctly. This Rona build is espacially for quick burst and chasing, which works best with Fortress or an Ardan. Rona's Kit allows her to attack 40% faster (which is like a Blazing Salvo.) in exchange for 20% of her damage with each attack. In my opinion one of the best kits in Vainglory, because i love to stutterstep-chase my enemies.

Into The Fray Top

Rona's A ability allows her to jump to a targeted position in a small range and slows every enemy who walks over the ruptured ground. In addition, Rona gains 20 (!!!!) Bloodrage for every hero she collides with. The best way to use this ability is to jump behind targets and block their way or in front of an ally to help him escape.

In big teamfights though, it is better to use this ability directly on the enemy heroes to gain maximum Bloodrage as well as a small amount of fortified health and stick the enemies to their position.
For example this helps your Celeste or Skaarf to hit their skills as well as keeping the enemies away from your lane carry.

There is always a perfect position for this ability in every game scenario, so try to master it, because its a strong teamfight mechanic!

Foesplitter Top

In this build, this ability is your main source of damage. Thats why I also recommend upgrading this ability whenever you can. It is a small gap closer combined with a movement speed bonus and nice execute damage. What do you want more?

With your second activation it also inflicts a mortal wound, which reduces all healing effects by 50% and the damage scales with your current Bloodrage. Just to make this ability even more stronger, the cooldown is reduced by 1 second every time Rona attacks with an Auto-attack. The best way to use this is leaping to your target with the first activation, building some bloodrage, use it again and stutterstep your way up to reduce the cooldown so you can use it again and again.

Shiversteel is definitely a great way to accomplish this, but it reduces your damage output a lot, so I only recommend building it when you really need the slow to lockdown your targets. It would be great if you can arrange an early Shiversteel on your roamer, so you can fully focus on dealing damage!

Red Mist Top

Rona's Ultimate is one of the things I rarely use with this build. It deals massive ammount of damage, but in exchange it reduces your mobility a lot. If you can stick to your target I definitely recommend using it, but else, try to stick to your targets with Foesplitter and stutterstepping. A good way to use Red Mist is to finish of targets, because it deals a lot of damage with every hit (225-350-475) and if you immediately use it, the movement reduction does not prevent the hit on the target.

In big teamfights, I also not recommend using it because with Foesplitter, it is way easier to kill one enemy quickly. BUT if the whole team targets you, you can stand in all of them and use Red Mist to gain infinite bloodrage and fortified health as well as a nice damage output to the whole enemy team.

CRIT is your friend! Top

Due to Rona's awesome perk erserkers' Fury to gain attack speed, crit is just awesome on her! To explain this, I quickly explain the crit mechanic to you: Critical damage deals double the ammount of your normal basic damage, but only has a percentage to hit. The damage multiplier can also be upgraded with all tier 3 crit items like Tyrant's Monocle or Tornado Trigger.

So for example it deals 150% instead of 100% critical damage to your target. So, Rona's perk gives her 40% more attack speed, but reduces the base damage to 80% instead of a full 100% like every other hero deals. Critical damage always deals double or as explained multiplied damage of your basic damage to your target. That means if Rona builds a Sorrowblade, she only deals 80% of that damage that Sorrowblade provides, but critical damage only doubles the damage she normally deals, so there is no loss of damage due to her perk.

It may be a little complicated, but it makes sense if you understand it. I tried out a lot of item combinations on Rona so far, but this build with crit instead of pure damage worked out the best for me!

Heroes with Rona Top

Movement boosts and slows are very effective with Rona, that's why choosing heros and building items with those abilities is significant for a good comp. As I mentioned before my Rona works best with a Fortress or an Ardan in jungle. Also an early Shiversteel on your roamer can cause a lot of trouble for your enemies.
Warhorn is also very useful and supportive for  Rona.

For the lane we need a heavy crystal power hero like Skaarf or Celeste. Abilities like Goop or Core Collapse can be combined very well with Rona. Your laner should also consider to build Frostburn to have the extra slow on every crystal damage he deals.

Here are some comps which really work great with Rona:

Rona & Ardan / Fortress; Skaarf

Rona & Ardan / Fortress; Celeste

Rona & Ardan / Fortress; Vox

Rona & Ardan / Fortress; Skye

Rona & Ardan / Fortress; Adagio Buff Comp!

Rona & Catherine; Celeste
