Intro Top

I noticed that I rarely have long fights using Glaive and drawn out battles are typically lost. Glaive's kit really has no support for long fights and is much better for surprising enemies with quick and high damage attacks. Every weapon build I've tried lacks the kind of massive destruction I wanted to see while using Glaive, as if I had to wheelchair this guy in order to make WP work on him.

Tension Bow quickly became one of my favorites when I tried it on Glaive. Unfortunately, WP Glaive is normally really weak before late game and either gets starved or has to run from most fights. The sheer fear factor from Tension Bow's first hit normally guarantees more free auto-attacks and makes Glaive an intimidating force beginning mid-game. I have not lost a single game rushing Tension Bow on Glaive yet.

On top of that, Glaive's kit is just perfect for Tension Bow. It goes very well with Afterburn since the stun is treated as a basic attack. Make sure to proc Tension Bow with Afterburn's stun hit or Twisted Stroke, since both benefit from the massive weapon damage. Early on, Glaive will practically melt enemies.

After rushing Tension Bow, I go on to get a lot of crit damage and crit chance. With Tyrant's Monocle, Glaive will do even more damage in massive swings. I then go for straight damage in Sorrowblade, but I think attack speed like Tornado Trigger or Bonesaw would work well too.

The key to this build is to shorten fight duration. I often get people to run after the first massive hit and ability burst and when I catch up with the A ability Tension Bow procs again and just delete them.

Tension Bow - the first T3 item and arguably the most important for this build. Tension Bow will proc (utilize special passive) on his Afterburn (A) and Twisted Stroke (B) abilities if timed correctly (timing is not important since TB is additive). Normally, you'll want to get this by the 7 min mark and secure early gank kills to press your advantage. Punish the enemy hard if they fail to drop their offense and pick up any armor.

Tyrant's Monocle - the high crit stats from this item are perfect for Glaive who already has natural crit% from Twisted Stroke's passive. Build this after Tension Bow and through Lucky Strike. I find that replacing this with Tornado Trigger in build order can also help, so feel free to experiment.

Sorrowblade - increases damage. With crit% from Tyrant's Monocle and Tornado Trigger, Sorrowblade's damage is nicely boosted. Keep this as Heavy Steel after a Blazing Salvo and upgrade to Sorrowblade after Tyrant's Monocle.
