Introduction Top

This is a guide I made just for fun. You can choose whether you want to take it seriously or not :)

First off, watch this to get a general idea of what Taka does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I58q1oyvu7g

Now, let's learn how to get good with Taka. Taka is a very mobile assassin, able to sneak in and out of battle while having the ability to dodge debuffs and damage. His A ability allows him to avoid damage and debuffs, his B ability allows him to turn invisible to opponents and heal while invisible, his C ability makes him deal damage to an enemy and bleed them.

In the ability upgrade path above, you should notice that at the level 5, no ability is upgraded. This is because you can do something called skill skipping, to forgo a point in an ability at level 5 to spend it on a better ability at level 6. In this case, you sacrifice a point in Kaku so you get 2 skill points at level 6, allowing you to upgrade both Kaiten and X-Retsu.

Abilities and Analysis Top

House Kamuha
Slot: Heroic Perk
Every 5 seconds, Taka's next basic attack is replaced with a Mortal Strike. Mortal Strikes deal 40 (+25% weapon ratio) bonus damage and grant Taka a burst of move speed. Whenever Taka Mortal Strikes or uses an ability, he gains a stack of Ki, which speeds up his Mortal Strike timer by 0.9 secs and grants 25% cooldown speed. (5 Ki stacks max.)

This perk is what makes Taka very mobile. As long as he can keep attacking an enemy, he will keep getting that move speed bonus and makes it easy to chase while stutterstepping. The WP ratio on the perk makes a WP build very viable since it will make him deal insane DPS. However, when building CP, the main purpose of the perk is to keep up with enemies.
Important: Always try to have your perk up at all times. That way, you can receive the full benefits of the 5 Ki stacks, enabling you to deal more damage and have your abilities on a lower cooldown.

Kaiten
Slot: A
Taka flips over his target, cutting it with his switchblade. Taka is invulnerable to damage & debuffs while in mid-air.

This ability is Taka's best ability. It makes him avoid any damage and debuffs. This is so helpful in so many situations where enemy try to crowd control you and you just dodge it. In a sense, it is like Reflex Block. The damage from this ability is also reasonably high, especially if building CP.

Kaku
Slot: B
Taka throws a smoke bomb at his feet, vanishing from enemy sight and gaining move speed. This illusion ends early if he strikes a target or he takes direct damage. Turrets and Flare Guns can still see Taka. This ability heals Taka while he is invisible.

This is the ability that makes Taka a pain in the ***. When he uses this, he turns invisible and can only be revealed by damaging him with a skillshot/ability/autoattack. He can also be revealed with the use of a Flare, if he is within the radius of the Flare. Make sure that you try to avoid getting flared as a Taka, it is the bane of your existence. In addition, it also heals Taka, so you can use it to keep your health up when you are out of combat. This ability can also be used to refresh the House Kamuha timer. When you have Ki Stacks, it should be shown as a small hand symbol on the screen. when the timer is almost depleted, you can use Kaku to keep your stacks up if you think you will need your Ki stacks for an approaching fight.

X-Retsu
Slot: C
Taka bursts through his target, carving an X with his switchblades for lethal damage. The target suffers a mortal wound, reducing its healing by 50% and taking damage per second over the next 3 seconds. The wound's duration is refreshed whenever Taka mortal strikes this target. Grants bonus Ki stacks upon use based on number of ability points in X-Retsu.

This is an ultimate that greatly hurts heroes relying on healing or lifesteal, such as Lyra, Krul, Adagio. It reduces the healing that they get, and it also gives you Ki stacks. This is why it should be used at the start of the fight to get your Ki stacks up and to reduce overall survivability of that hero X-Retsu is used on. This synergies very well with your perk as you can constantly reduce the healing that target receives and bleed the target to death by auto attacking the target with Mortal Strikes.

Item Build Path (WP) Top

What I normally build as my 2 WP items on WP Taka are Serpent Mask and Breaking Point. Now let's take a look at what each item provides.

Serpent Mask
The only lifesteal item in the game thus far. Useful if you find that you need to sustain more in fights if you already do enough damage.

Breaking Point
Stacks up more damage the more you deal. Combine this with Serpent Mask and you can sustain with more damage and attack speed.

Sorrowblade
Pure damage item. When in doubt, build this XD

Tension Bow
Taka Taka Taka with Tension Bow is fun. burst damage is high, can delete squishy carries easy.

Item Build Path (CP) Top

What i normally build as my 2 CP items on CP Taka are Alternating Current and Broken Myth. Now let's take a look at what each item provides.

Aftershock
build this with Tension Bow and you get ... Proc Taka!!! Also used for burst damage or to take out tanks with insane health.

Alternating Current
Gives Taka more mobility with his perk. and some crystal power :)

Broken Myth
Get this if you can stay alive long enough in fights for this to be useful.

Shatterglass
Pure damage if you don't know what else to build XD

How to play Taka Top

Early Game (0:00-6:00)
Depends on your jungle clear speed. If you and your roamer can farm minions fast enough to go to shop, go shop 2 T1 defences, then go for an early invade. With those defences, you will be hard to kill but you can still do decent damage. Otherwise, farm up safely and avoid fights.

When you get your Stormcrown, you will find it very easy to farm minions. This increases your jungle clear speed and gives you more time to do other stuff, such as ganking lane and invading jungle or taking/sieging objectives. The health and damage from Stormcrown is also effective when fighting against heroes, as the true damage ignores any amor and shield they have bought. However, this needs to be further supplemented by WP or CP items, otherwise the damage is too meagre later in the game. You should be able to win fights at this stage of the game once you have gotten Stormcrown.

Mid Game (6:00-12:00)
The Gold Mine has spawned. This will be an objective that you should strive to get to further a gold lead or to come back from a gold deficit due to getting jungle invaded. At this point, you should have finished at least a few more T2 offence and defence items. This makes you more dangerous in teamfights. Target the biggest enemy threat using X-Retsu, then proceed to autoattack until that hero dies. Save your Kaiten. Whenever you see the enemy using a high damage or CC ability that will screw you up really bad, use your Kaiten to help you survive.

This is Taka's power spike. Make good use of it by invading jungle and capturing gold mines to secure a lead, then win with Kraken or just push down the enemy base.

Late game (12:00+)
At this point, you should have completed at least 1 T3 defence. This means you also have some utility for your team. If you have a Fountain of Renewal, make sure to stagger the use of yours and the roamer's Fountain of Renewal so that you can maximise the heal output. If you get Atlas Pauldron, target the most dangerous enemy with the highest attack speed with X-Retsu, then tap Atlas Pauldron. This makes your Atlas Pauldron difficult to block, possibly slowing the enemy enough so they are not a damage threat, allowing you to finish him off while keeping you team alive.

Roam Synergy Top

Ardan
Ardan can give Taka a move speed boost and health barrier with Vanguard, providing the squishy assassin what he needs to survive in a fight. His Gauntlet further traps the enemy team so their mobility is greatly hindered, allowing Taka to attack them while they cannot escape. Vanguard is one of the best support tools for Taka as it slows the enemy and boosts his already fast movement speed when hitting enemies, making him stick to enemies much more easily.

Lance
Lance and Taka are an aggressive early game comp. With this comp, you should invade jungle frequently and exploit the early game advantage, snowballing an early game lead to a victory. Lance's Impale is excellent at helping Taka chase, while his Gythian Wall can be used to peel enemies defensively away from his ranged carry. Gythian Wall is a very useful CC ability as it can potentially stun enemies out of their ultimates, or used offensively to push enemies closer to Taka.

Phinn
Phinn is notorious for his slow movement speed and immense CC. This works well with Taka, as they can both be such a nuisance in fights that it draws attention away from the lane carry. However, the slow movement speed is terrible to have with Taka, as he cannot keep up with Taka to protect him well enough. Phinn does synergize well with squishy immobile carries as he can bring the fight to them or peel for that carry. Taka and Phinn have the ability to isolate a lone enemy and take them out quick, so watch for opportunities to pick them off 1 by 1.

Catherine
Catherine has a reliable stun and silence. Merciless Pursuit is good for locking down an enemy so Taka can chase better or use X-Retsu while the enemy cannot use Reflex Block to block the mortal wound. The silence from Blast Tremor is highly effective in shutting down an enemy team because the roamer cannot use Fountain of Renewal to save teammates at a crucial moment. It also makes enemy movements more predictable as they cannot use abilities or boots to move at different speeds. This is a good time for Taka to burst enemies down.

Hopefully this guide has helped you learn more about Taka. And git gud in your Taka adventures.
