About Build Path/Ability Order Top
Personally you level her how you like there is no best way you need to choose based of how you and your team is doing.
Build path
boots T1 then chronograph if in lane or dragon heart if roaming
roam - warhorn
lane - aftershock
after that boots T2 and then get aftershock/warhorn which ever one you haven't built yet
if you are behind get another tank item like crucible or lifesaving and then eye
after eye or tank item T3 boots (journey boots) and more tank or contraption if you plan on taking lots of objectives by yourself or with only one other team mate. build your last item as you need (situational item)
Why this build (summary/quick guide) Top
This version of Catherine will let you "carry" your team from the support role. You will have good damage with aftershock. You will out sustain with eye of harvest as it causes your b ability to heal you. You want to focus on making you team last longer than theres and making sure you engage not your back line. You will have a small burst counter by ulting and then engaging on the squishiest enemy. In the next sections I will go through the 2 types of supports and how to play the early game and how to team fight.
Suport Type: ROAM Top
This is the typical style. Go into the jungle and leash your jungler, let them last hit creeps etc. Solo gank if you want as you will need your passive stacks up to at least 35-50 late game. try to be friendly and supportive of your team and help take key objectives be holding off the enemy team. This is what is most expected by other players try starting out this way and get good at it before you try lane Catherine.
Support Type: LANE Top
This is an advanced strategy that is based off harassing out the enemy laner and staking your passive consistently. You must start A ability in this play style. You will still buy irongaurd contract. To begin with you will go into the lane brush on the side closer to the jungle. As soon as the first trade happens use you a ability to stun the other laner. This will most likely result in a kill. Then stay in lane by the brush and try to keep staking your passive with your a ability. If you get 3v2ed early run do not sit around and wait for your jungler you will give them a double kill.
Team Fights Top
To team fight with Catherine you should try to hit al three of them with your ult and then stun their carry. if your team gets engaged on peel for your most fed carry and then proceed to ult to disable burst mages and takes.
